There are many things I love about social media but I just don't understand why people argue about which way to decorate is right. The only "correct" way to decorate is the one that makes your house feel like home. And your home is beautiful. I personally decorate my home with thrifted pieces, antiques, new items, diy items, and family heirlooms.
💯 Yes! Same over here and I think it's terrible to shame anyone for buying at chain stores. Maybe that's all they have time to source. Personally I'm with you (as I said) ai love a mixture 😊
I agree! My home is a combination of antiques, new items, thrifted items, hand-me-downs and things that I’ve created! There is no right or wrong way, to each his (or her!) own. ☺️
Tasha, you have helped me transform my home into a calm and inspirational space. I have always felt so intimidated by interior design but your soft demeanor and “it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get this right” attitude have helped me overcome this. I truly look forward to your videos every week. Thank you for making my life easier!
Thank you! This is one of the best comments I've ever had 🥰 I'm really glad to hear that and you are so right that it's not the end of the world! First of all, we have to take a moment to be grateful for what we have, then calmly, and always while having fun, try to curate it more and more 😊
Tasha ... I always look forward to your new videos!! Thank you so much for the inspiration ... I am of the mindset you shared about mixing old & new decor ideas together. If you are being "true" to your own aesthetic then you ultimately will love your home!! Thanks again for sharing!!!
It’s amazing the transformation of the flowers. Just bringing the color down a notch makes such a difference. You find the most interesting things thrifting and you style them so beautifully.
I love all of your finds and how you changed some of the features to better fit your home! I also love how you styled everything. The prices were great too!
I prefer a mix of vintage, trending, antiques, “Hobby Lobby” melded together in my home for a curated style. If everything is vintage it could come across as “dated” or “old”. Too trendy looks dated in a year or two. If all you have are antiques it can look stuffy, uncomfortable or unapproachable. All Hobby Lobby can be “cookie cutter”..,but I think if you mix them all together you can create YOUR home just like you like it. ☺️ You do a great job of it!
I love watching you thrift and diy, i like the idea of mixing vintage and nrw items to make a unique and personal home, you are very good at decorating, your home is lovely, Curry is so cute ,reminds me of one of my kitties ❤😊
Your cat is adorable! My cats manage to photo bomb many of my pictures and videos! Pets make a house…a home! Thank you for including him, I love it! 🐈🐈⬛🐈
Hi Tasha, I loved everything today ❣️ I also love how curious your kitty is with the items you buy, it seems to always give an approval 😊, smart and adorable kitty cat !!! One suggestion that I learned many years ago…….when cleaning glass in a picture frame, spray the cloth or paper towel instead of wetting the glass. This keeps any liquid from seeping under the frame edge that could possibly harm the the wood or picture. After hearing that suggestion, I realized that I hadn’t ever thought about that! Your ideas are so clever, I really enjoy your videos, thanks 😊❣️
Thank you! And yes I love that tip! It's one I've heard before, but like lots of good advice, I don't always follow it 😆 Kind of like cracking your eggs into a separate bowl when baking. I know I should but I don't, haha!
Oh my goodness Tasha! I could not stop giggling at your cat taking over the tray and then by the pitcher posing! I had a shizu that would make a bed out of anything laundry, bags, carpets! 😂😂😂😂 I loved all your projects cant choose a favorite. Thanks for sharing
I love all your work, thrift and DIY pieces. I agree with others, you have an easy watch / soothing style. Really chuffed to have found your channel 🇬🇧
I had no idea there was a Fil Stik. How perfect! The dipping of those stems was an excellent idea. I’m definitely going to keep that in mind. Everything you got looks beautiful in your home. Thank you for sharing.
People need to live & let live! Love your DIY’s & am so jealous of your thrift stores. Mine are normally filled with people’s unwanted trash 😢 You found some excellent things.
What ever makes you happy in your home! My home is a mix of thrifted, DIY and hand-me-downs with very few new. Funny thing about the viral items that get pushed, if I wanted to buy it, they are out of stock!
My daughter and I went thrifting yesterday, we didn't find anything. I was bummed, usually we find at least one thing! lol I love your channel!! Your home is beautiful and I love how you change the look of your items to make it fit your style and your home. I have lots and lots of thrifted items in our home too. ❤
Love your videos I don't get to go thifting not in the budget right now but I love when you take us along with you treasure hunting ❤ Those brass sconces you bought I have a pair almost identical Love those I have on each side of a mirror beside our front door ❤ Love all your finds That brown pitcher vase you bought that's the exact color I pair that color with my amber glass and with a touch of terra cotta here and there I use in my kitchen One of my favorite colors ❤ Thank you sweet friend Hope you have a Great safe fun week 💌
Oh Tasha what great finds and ideas. I have a bundle of the same florals in bright yellow(the online pic was more muted) and I soaked them in tea bags for a couple of hours and they turned a gorgeous muted mustard gold color. Your idea is a great hack too. Loved everything and I agree about the war of decor..honestly..who cares. If you like it then that is what matters. I have been wanting that hobby lobby picture and its still out of stock!
Oh! Tea is a great idea, especially for the yellow. I'm going to have to keep that in mind! I bet it would work for red too. Same principle of adding a brown layer. Thanks for that tip, and thanks for watching as always!
It’s Tasha Wednesday! Alright, so it’s doesn’t have that same ring as Tasha Tuesday, I’ll still watch anyway! 😘 I think if you’re not loving the color of the tray, then Curry has really done you a favor by making his own chique transitional style decorative bed. What a sweet and charming spot he’s made for himself 💕 We have an 88lb dog whose bed could never fit in a hideaway spot like that. Tommy’s beds are out in the open. Thankfully, I can find on trend colors like variations of taupes and browns that match him and our floors 😜 How are you liking your new sofa now that you’ve had it a bit? People need to stay in their own lanes when it comes to decorating and pretty much anything else in life 😂 As ever, your videos and home are beautiful. I love the candle sconces in the guest bath. I get so much joy watching you curate your home each week. ❤
Thanks Terri! No, I guess doggies don't fit in quite as many spots 😅 Curry will sit inside anything he can. My daughter has one of those play mats that looks like a city with a roads running through it so she can push her cars... And whenever it's out, he'll come and sit right in the middle of the traffic circle 🤣 We still really like the sofa! I love how much stuff I can hide away in it. And I like the seat being a little on the firmer side so you don't sink down into it much.
Mixing it up is best but who cares what people think, you do you. A white candle is a good hole filler too. Here is another tip, Walmart florals have gotten better, from all the flowers you will find a handful that look high quality and mix them in with the more expensive stems...no one will know :D
I love your use of trays, to group things, to as you say, make them “intentional”. Do you think you would make a video just about this? I would appreciate your guidance.
I'm with you mixing is better - and ya know we often find 20-25 year old box store stuff or I have even found DT 15-20 years old that look pottery amazing - even pottery from Mexico with old DT labels! Looked like from the labels you hit Trosa this week... it's been a while for me - I gotta get up there again! Blessings!
Trying to figure out what to comment about-which thing did I love the most? Wowsie! Really love the framed art. Made me realize that I will want to not only look at the frames but also for quality matting for another level of savings. So shocked how the flowers turned out! Way more fall looking! You might just make a DIYer out of me yet! I do love that thrifting yields things from everywhere! And honestly, I can show you thrifted items in my home that are in current YT videos from box stores! Ha. So thrifted and mass produced! I love mixing it all up but for savings, I enjoy about 90 percent of my decor from thrifting. So impressed with the changes on that tray. Everything is lovely today! Maybe you heard me saying, “Tasha, can you really just dip those flowers in paint?” From Indiana! lol
Haha thanks as always! I think I did hear you, although maybe it was me saying it to myself 😅 I didn't know if it would work but I thought...what the heck. And yes you're so right about how a frame with a nice matting is that much better of a deal 🤩
Down here in the Charlotte area our prices are so much higher!!! The prices you pay now are what it was here over 20 yrs ago! But you find some great stuff!!!🤗
Loved this. Your home always looks spotless and you have a cat. If you can I would love to learn how you seem to have your home so free of cat hair. Do you have a routine you follow?
Very nice Tasha. Have you thought about replacing the felt pieces at the bottom of your brown pitcher so that it won't be so noticeable? Great video as always!!!
I definitely thought about sanding and staining the tray, but I am burnt out on sanding for a while after redoing my coffee table from the last video 😂
I like what I like so I don’t shop at any one particular place. Thrift stores are the best not only for the prices but because of the uniqueness of the items. You home should reflect your taste.
Yes I wiped the prices off if it's going to be visible and a lot of times I try and wipe it off of the bottom as well if possible. But of course you can't wipe it off of everything so... I don't particularly like when it's done that way but it's part of thrifting I guess 🤷🏼♀️
The ones I got are the 6" ones, but they are out of stock. However, they do have the 12" ones which might be more of what you're looking for! amzn.to/3TXcMkT
Hey Tasha, as always love all your finds. That pitcher is so cute and I'm a sucker for vintage frames, trays and vessels. I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with. I've thrifted quite a few frames for a gallery wall. A couple of them are wood with linen going around it as well. I was planning on taping it off and adding a antique wax. Is that what you'd do? Or is they're something better? I'm doing vintage gold frames, wood frames and black frames. Or that's the plan atleast! Love all you do!
Thanks! As to your question That's definitely something I might do. Are you adding the antiquing wax primarily to make all the wooden ones look the same, or because you want to alter the color? Or both?
Can I ask where you’d suggest shopping in RDC area for thrifted decor? We’ve only been here a few years and have tried some goodwill stores but they don’t have a lot of decor (I’m outside of Raleigh)
I like to use a rectangular under the bed style storage container so they can lay out flat no matter how long they are. I keep mine in the garage inside one but of course it's nice that it would fit under the bed for anyone without a garage space!
I live in Raleigh too!! What thrift stores would you recommend? I’ve been wanting to try but I get overwhelmed and I’ve tried a couple stores and have not found anything. Thanks!
Cool! 👋🏼 I love in Durham but we venture into Raleigh. I used to live there 😀 There are so many stores I really can't which are favorites. We do like the Goodwill on Glenwood Ave in North Raleigh. I also like Dorcas in Cary, though I don't get to go there often.
