I knew when I bought the piece that I was scraping the paper off. I didn't like the fact that it didn't even fill the frame - not to mention I thought it was a bit bland. :)

Beautiful end result, but in hindsight could you have just applied a primer over the old paper before decoupaging?

And honestly, I might have considered just going over the paper if it had actually completely filled the frame, but with a gap all of the way around it and the paper being relatively thick, it potentially would have left a "lip" in my finished work, so I chose to remove it and not take any chances. :)

next time just paint that paper white and decoupage right over it . mist of you people make so much work for yourselves.

My luck is that the paper would have bubbled or wrinkled or bled. And there was also the fact that the original paper didn't extend all the way to the edges of the backing, which would have likely left a visible line in my paper. For the most part, I dont like to trust that what I'm going over will be a great base for whatever I am going over it with. I would personally rather put in the work to ensure that what I'm creating will last.
