Rachel, great haul. Can’t wait to see what you do with the wood, and I hope it impresses your hubby! Lol. The hutch is gorgeous. I know you must be glad it’s done as it was a huge undertaking. But, you can be proud of it, because it turned out wonderful. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! I am pretty happy with how that hutch came together, and I'm relieved that it is finished and hopefully on to its forever home soon! :) Thanks so much for watching!
I knew the hutch was gonna be beautiful!!! Gorgeous for sure!!! Love those brass candle holders, I’m thinking they probably did have some sort of glass chimney? They are so cool!! Can’t wait to see what you do with the wood😂
Good haul Rachael. I loved all of what you got but my favourites are the candle holders, the brass ones that you got 2 of. They are so unusual, I’ve never seen anything like that before. The hutch looks stunning, you’ve done such a great job on it.
Thank you so much! And I found those brass candle holders online. Apparently they are a French thing. They are vintage brass Bouillotte style candle holders, and the only examples I could find online are super expensive, lol.
That lamp is called a Bouillotte lamp. It was named after a card game from France. People would pass it around the table so they could see their cards. The interior of the lampshade should be highly reflective. I found a similar one online to yours and it was $850 for one. However, I don’t know if yours is vintage newly made whatever. But it was pretty fascinating. Anyway, I thought you might want this information. Absolutely loved your show today and the hutch is gorgeous. Have a great day.
Thank you so much for the information! And I am pretty sure these are both vintage - I ended up finding one that someone was selling on Ebay that were exactly like mine but missing the top ring and they were asking somewhere around $300 for it! Thanks for watching!! :)
Hi! You found some great items! The Bohemian themed items is right up my alley! p.s. you can very easily repair the foot of the large candlestick with some air dry clay. :-)
Thank you! And I thought about using air dry clay - I just worry about getting it to match the rest of the old chippy finish so it doesn't stand out...but I'm considering it......:)
For about 10 dollars, you can buy All Purpose Putty and sculpt another foot onto the large candle holder. The difference the repair will make by repairing should give you a return on the price of the putty. Just a thought. Cheers
