Thrift Shop Find - The Brilliant Bernina 1030 - Overview 

I have had this machine for 30 years, serviced twice, sews like a dream.

Thanks for this video! I have had my 1020 for nearly 30 years - it's identical to what you have here except for the basting stitch knob. It's a great machine and I have never considered replacing it - so well made and much more solid than a lot of what you see around now. The knee lift is a total game changer. This is a find for sure! My cat likes to sit at my machine too -LOL

My mom upgraded to a newer Bernina, and I panicked thinking she had traded in her 1030, but thankfully she had not. Now I might get to use it myself!

Hi thank you for an interesting video. I have never seen this model Bernina, but it seems a dream with all the clever features. I would buy that machine in a heartbeat. So wish we had thrift stores in the UK with quality products for sale. Look forward to the next video. Kind regards Anita

I have this one...and it is a great work horse....it is my quilt retreat machine. I also use it if there is lightning...as my newer Bernina 750 QE is computerized...and we have a lot of lightning in FL.

Great video. I bought a Bernina 1030 last year it came with a separate Bernina box of accessories including 14 presser feet all for $30. The seller said that the machine wasnt working, as at some stage a puff of smoke came from the machine and it stopped. Didnt bother me the feet alone were worth more and I thought it could just be a capacitor in the machine. Much to my dismay the sellers husband had taken a look at the circuit board and then either threw it away or lost it. Oh dear could have been an easy fix :( Anyway on the look out for an L-Print board and your video just makes me want to be able to get the machine working again! The machine is in excellent condition otherwise. I cheered myself up by buying a Bernina 1006, in brand new condition. The mother of the seller bought it for her in the hope she would get the sewing bug, but no, the seller only used it half a dozen times, mostly to mend a few things. Another good buy at $100.00 and it is now the machine I am using the most. My first machine, a Bernina NOVA is having a rest after 40 years of service. Will have to get it out to give it a run. Erin

I love mine

Three years later and watching this video because I am probably going to by a Bernina 1000 Plus in good state. But I wonder why this type is not to be found on the internet and youtube, it seems. Is it not a good type of Bernina's? Could it be that spare parts can't be found anymore?
