Omg Star Skater Barbie! When you held her up, I immediately recognized that colorful textured fabric from my childhood🥺 Her spinning torso gimmick was so silly, I loved her so much as a kid who figure skated!
In case you're still wondering, Danish court is from Denmark. The country atop of Germany. I know you said it in the video but I was typing already XD The "a bunch of countries next to Germany" are most likely The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg (I'm from Belgium). The issue with "Holland" is that its often used as a substitute for The Netherlands even though Holland is just a region in the country. But yes, they do speak Dutch there 😉 I don't blame you for not recognising the countries from these dolls. They're old outfits from Medieval times up until I'd say the beginning of the 1900s at latest. Ive been born and raised in Belgium for 22 years now and I wouldn't have known the majority of where these dolls are supposed to be from. I do think that countries in Europe is a very different thing to states from the US though, but I don't feel like going into that argument.
Ah! You should have hmu! I would have told you the decent places in Dallas to go thrifting (although oddly there aren’t many). I’ve literally been trying to compile a comprehensive list for the past couple of months.
@@gonz3870 Absolutely! So I would say antique malls in Dallas specifically aren’t very good for dolls. The only 2 I’ve personally found success at are the Plano Antique Mall and East Fork Mall. As far as Thrift stores I’m still trying to hit them all but Texas Thrift Garland can be really good, Thrift City in Richardson can be hit or miss.
@@peaceloveplasticthank you so much!!! :D i’ll have to check those out!! if it’s not on your list i recommend Cottonwood market antique mall too :)) it’s mostly antiques but there’s one small toy booth there that’s a hit or miss too lol
I found some really cool older Barbie Dolls at Value Village recently. My recent finds are the Fantasy Hair Barbie, Barbie Fashionista 63: Platinum Pop, and the Cutie Reveal Cozy Tee Teddy Bear Doll.
there was another barbie pets line called kennel care, it came with separate little sets of dogs and cats. i had them all as kid as well at the spaghetti cats from i love pets and they’re so dear to me. you should look into the kennel care tuxedo cats they are precious!!
It’s amazing that the dolls of the world princesses are still available relatively affordable. We have two since many years but I will get more, as they’re easily available for good prices. They’re beautiful for sure!
I had an excellent doll weekend, actually! I Found 3 Barbs at a toy show: The Princess of the French Court, Hollywood Hair Barbie (unfortunately with a cracked boot) and Gibson Girl Barbie. Then my local toy store happened to be running a sale on Monster high so I got Scaradice Draculaura too.
Not much of a thrift find but on Mercari, I was able to score an old American Girl of Today for under $30 with that really cute green sweater outfit that is usually $30 itself. So happy you found some cool finds! Also missing AG content 😭
I have only found a handful of decent stuff thriting. My thrifting shops are either over priced or have dolls in bad shape. The only antique mall in my city doesn't have much toys. My most recent find was a doll that i didn’t noticed had a broken neck peg. So i had to spend $15 to give her a Made to Move body. My first time swapping bodies such a pain in the neck. I like how she looks now she looks more animated in her new body.
Oh no!! You definitely have to find the right spots. Some people just WAY overprice things and don’t seem to understand that nobody will buy them 😭 I’m so sorry about the broken neck peg! I’ve had dishonest sellers have the doll bagged and taped so there’s no way I could have known before buying :(
OMG spaghetti cats totally makes me think of tapeworms not spaghetti! Yes, kitties will throw up tapeworms and they look just like spaghetti (seen it way too many times working in vet clinics), although they are usually alive so the retractable part is kinda working too! Don’t think I need any breakfast this morning.
The Barbie outfit with the blue pattern skirt and the white blouse is Nia Western Fun's from 1989 and the t-shirt with the blue vest is Barbie Shopping Fun's, from 1995 or 96.
Oh no you passed on a Simba toys Ariel! Haha she’s my favorite Ariel doll cause of her beautiful face. I don’t know anything about Godzilla but a few months ago I saw a Mothra squishmallow in a crane game and I love him so much(didn’t win it though 😅), but it was cool to see how excited you were about all the Godzilla stuff at that mall. And Wow! Those princesses of the world Barbie’s were sooo pretty! I like the Ancient Greece one especially ^_^ and I have that holland one, I had no idea who she was I just loved her hair haha
I work at a licensed graphic tee company, and for a while we had Precious Moments. It never did super well for us (outside this one pride design we got away with) so I'm curious if Brett has any more precious moments tees; the chance that its ours is high if so. I honestly think the art is supremely cute and I enjoyed working with them even though I'm not super fond that they're non-secular
it's so bizarre that you went to all of the antique stores that i go to. 😯 Even though I haven't had luck with the Flowermound antique store, I LOVE THE MY LITTLE PONY SECTION. and yes a lot of stuff is overpriced 😭
Ahhh how fun!! I have driven through Dallas so many times but I’ve never stopped anywhere to toy hunt - seems there’s a lot more going on and I found two pretty good spots :3
Elephant ear and funnel cake are two somehwat different things in my world - also I've never seen elephant ear in california, only once in washington state like a decade ago
the one care bear was the baby hugs from 2002 & the two sitting were from one of the collector's series where they were all sitting & they all look a bit different from the "normal" ones. & the other bear was from the 20th anniversary line!
I have a theory about the extreme overpricing on random things in antique malls. I think that people will set up those ‘rare’ chase items in plain view with tiny little $200 tags so they draw you into the booth and you end up looking over their other stuff they (hopefully) price more fairly.
I always think it's that they are either wildly out of touch or they're thinking it will trick the customers into thinking the other stuff is comparatively much better priced? I think your theory makes a lot of sense!!
So glad you finally found Nakoma! I just finally found the giant version of that Pocahontas that I had as a kid, while thrifting! I love early Mattel Pocahontas❤
Great video, super fun, and the Godzilla finds are a mazing! ❤ Hi and Thank you Queen beans!!! My precious baby Jasmine was a ragdoll cat and I lost her 2 years ago, i need to have that "not a toy cat" now. ❤
I'm so sorry to hear about Jasmine, I hope you can find this one!! It's weird, searching "Our generation Jasmine cat" was not yielding that toy on eBay!
i had the korean court barbie as a kid! i remember being so excited seeing a korean barbie on shelves way back then but i don't have her anymore unfortunately
Brets precious moments jacket is so iconic. lol. I adored the bunny figure with the birthday cake. It was so funny when you were commenting on the batcave area saying it was stuff your dad would like and not really your thing....Cue Godzilla Room! lol. This was a fun video. Thank you.
THE HE-MAN BOX SET OMFG I NEED IT 😭 this entire mall would be a dream for me bc that horror area?!! So jealous The g1 ponies being so highly makes me so sad bc wow they have an amazing selection
Great video. Also a huge Godzilla fan. That spot was awesome. I collected DOTW and the various lines. The beautiful black doll is the Princess of South Africa. She's one I had several of thanks to KB Toys.
She’s a good one to stock up on- her face is AMAZING and she has so many amazing accessories!! I wasn’t expecting to find a Godzilla paradise at all so that was such a delight!!
I always love your doll hunts. Also I don't know how familiar you are with Popmart but they have a character called Dimoo. The most recent set was animal themed and there's an alligator one with a Toothbrush! It immediately made me think of you and your love for the enchantimals Alligator Dentist.
Such awesome finds! Especially the Pocahontas dolls! You could always use the extra Pocahontas for the fashions they made, and the fact she has her necklace is always a plus! Velvet does have a hair growing feature, but it is always possible that it was cut too. I've yet to get one with her og box and dress lol! I'm DYING for that Dusty set oml... Most antique malls here in Georgia are a bit overpriced too, especially in Marietta, but it's always nice to see! Ironically, the outfit sets/pieces for 60's barbie weren't too badly priced there xD I went to Toylanta just the other day and I happened to find that 50's/60's poodle doll nude and in serious need of a reroot, but they wanted $50 for her so I passed, but hopefully he may be there in May if you didn't go! Someone else there also had almost the entire wave of Sun Colors (missing Kocoum), but they ended up selling before I could get them, despite the fact I already own the set in box x.x Nakoma had a swim/beach doll as well, and I'm still missing her lol!
Hi 👋 new viewer from Philippines 🇵🇭 Wow 😮 you’ve get Sun Colors Pocahontas and her friend Nakoma! Nakoma just need a hair makeover in her signature hair updo
Obsessed with the marmit kaiju figures... They're not really my main thing but I've been dyiiiiing trying to find something made by the same company for AGES so i see a lot of those creatures when im scouring secondhand sites, I've seen the mothra twins being listed for about $200 or so
That Barbie shirt+vest looks familiar. I think it's from Shoppin Fun Barbie and Kelly. I hope you guys picked up Epic Yarn because that game's adorable and has a great soundtrack. I wish I could find Dallas in person. I'm not even into horses but I appreciate the amount of realism they put into that horse compared to the cartoony modern Barbie horses whose legs aren't even molded on the inside.
58:00 I think that's like Sweden. The outfit is early 17th century. Edit: Holland makes so much more sense. They were really going off with the lace and paintings back then.
People were leaving weird comments about him and posting weird things about him on other websites and he’s not a RU-vidr so he didn’t “sign up” for it. You should see the way random people will tear you apart when they think you’ll never see for the most ridiculous reasons.
It’s either jealousy or they just think shitting on others will uplift them I guess? It sucks because this is something I absolutely love doing and I wish I could share it with him more but it’s completely understandable and rational and I respect his decision fully
I don’t want to sound like annoying lol but, the doll you said that was “princess of Kenya” is actually “princess of South Africa” I have her in box and love her!!
I am european and am currently living in North Holland, your moment of confusion was super funny! I took no offense to your lack of knowledge it is absolutely normal. Fun fact in Portugal we call (wrongly) the Netherlands Holanda, the official tittle is Países Baixos.
I always thought holland was its own full country? I imagine it historically must have been?? 😭I need to get to Europe and learn more because I am completely lacking knowledge of most of the continent
33:08 omg I saw that exact vest and shirt on a millie at a thrift store in japan! super cute and tempting but I passed cuz I didn't want the doll and the vest not going to the back annoys me
The holland and denmark discourse lowkey hurt helppp pftt way too funny tho .Holland is same as Netherlands, its jsut different name for it,A lot of european countries call it "Holland" or "The lowlands". The ponies ur friend got u are amazing,I literally want all of them so bad: Swirlypop and all candy and heart themed ones are the ones I want to collect the most in g3. I also want the winged ones so so badly(forgot the line name but ones starcatcher and other is the one your holding). Youre right tho, people try to jack g1 actully even g3 ponies prices up so much its ridicoulous! The godzilla booth was so cool! Great haul and bonus content was so much fun
11:12 Ronald McDonald and the legend of Grimace Island gave me horrific nightmares as a child. 😂 Also Danish is Denmark and Holland IS the netherlands 😂
hey brook this is going to sound super niche and specific lol but you once said in a video “if your family and friends don’t know you collect dolls, just ask them for the amount of money the doll(s) is and don’t tell them what it’s for.” i have watched ALL of your just chatting videos/all your videos in my history three times now and cannot find it again. do you by chance just happen to recall what video this is??
Hmm.. no! Are you sure that was me? I don’t feel like I tell people to ask for money unless it was about like a birthday/holiday present that they’re insisting upon providing? I don’t have any just chatting or advice videos set to private but my only other theory is that it may have been a live stream or something… I remove those if the chat is weird or if I just felt it was boring. It just seems like that advice is hyper specific which I don’t normally give and I find it uncouth to ask for money from people for things like this
@@xCanadensis positive it was you. it was definitely in the context of a birthday/holiday/special occasion gift thing. something amongst the lines of that. im going to comb through your channel one more time but whatever that video was - it was really informative lol.
@@xCanadensis think it might’ve just been an additional blurb or comment after a doll review or thrift haul. thanks anyways for responding! debating rewatching every single video until I find it lol
Lol, I just bought a doll in box and then found it at a thrift store! You hunt for it and then finally buy it online, and then you see it at the thrift store 😂.
Im here for everything you buy lol i love action figures, plush, any kind of figures i should say... and now dolls.. because they are figures deluxe forme.. because of FABRICS and HAIR ♡♡♡♡ i thrifted when i was young with my dad.. he thrifted until he passed away suddenly two months ago... it was and still is a shock for us because he was so in shape for his age.. even his doc said to him you will die at 107yo ... you are the most healthy patient i have.. if every patient were like you i wouldn't have a job... so... your thrift trip brings back so many good memories.. because he loved toys/figures/lego ect as much as me.. it makes me want to start again.. but where I live he doesn't have thrift stores.. he doesn't have almost nothing at all in fact.. lol.. thank you for bringing back wonderful memories and making me smile/cry and making me want to go thrifting again(?). i don't know if its a word.. lol
ik this video is from awhile ago but does anyone know any good antique malls that have dolls in the Houston area? I live in the Houston area and have to go all the dolls spots ik of but I would love to find more 😊
I never had doll luck anywhere when I lived in Houston 😭 there’s a LOT of vintage toy stores but they mostly focus on 80’s-90’s “boys” properties unfortunately… 10910 Katy Freeway used to be really nice and it’s fun to walk around even if you don’t find anything! And then there’s Trader’s Village!
I was trying this before I even finished the video lol I know those ones cause I recently came across them. I didn't end up getting them they were way over priced for me anyways.
