I attempted another Thrift Store Makeover -this time with a creepy music box, one of those jewelry storage furniture things. This is a fun thrift store diy - sort of a furniture makeover. For this diy thrift flip I tried a repurposing thrift and painted some furniture in my "modern spooky" style. There’s not many good options for thrift store finds in my area but this one caught my eye. This video did give me some experience on how to paint furniture and how to makeover furniture. I hope you got some thrift flip ideas and second hand furniture flip ideas from this video!

Oooh! Keep your eyes out around Sniffledorf's favourite spots! He's probably about to lose those tiny teefs and get his big boy teef. If he's needing something to chew on, a company called Meowijuana sells catnip (silvervine, actually, but in the family of the nip) sticks. They legit look like little twigs. He'd probably love them. Just don't go outside and pick up sticks from the ground. If there's bird poop on them, he could get hystoplasmosis (very deadly, very expensive disease to treat).

He's definitely teething, we've found multiple tiny teeth around the place lately! I definitely need to get something for him to chew on, I'll have to look into those meowijuana sticks. Thank you so much for recommending it! 💜

@@GraveyardLoon Have you saved his baby teef?? And when you find his whiskers, you must keep them! Kitty whiskers are sacred! I have a literal jar full of teeth and whiskers. But, I have 7 kittos in my home, so it's not hard to find sacred kitty parts lying around. 😂🤣

If you are lucky, you'll be able to see Sniffledorf double fanged. His adult canines will grow in, and push the baby ones out, but for a day or 2 he'll have both and look extra EBIL!

Try sponging on paint when using a stencil. You can use a plain sponge, makeup sponge, sponge brush, etc. It's not perfect, but I find it helps. And if you have an Ace Hardware in your area, they usually cut glass to size. :) Or maybe a Michael's that does framing. Or any framing shop, really. XD Keep on crafting!

I was just thinking a sponge stippling brush and some spray temp stencil adhesive would be good to pick up for the next project.

There are actually brushes designed specifically for stenciling though I haven't seen any in a brick and mortar store in awhile.

Yep! And use a "pouncing" motion, don't paint with strokes.

when you paint the spiders with stencils, you need to clean them or wipe up the excess paint. This way the spiders will come out neat and tidy. 😊

I like the finished cabinet, the colours work really well When I've done stencils like that in the past, I've used a really light spray of removable spray mount to stick them in place so the paint can't bleed.it is a bit if a faff though.

Love this! As for the stencil spiders, I believe you got the bleed through because you were brushing on the paint. For stenciling you want to stipulate it in an up and down motion to avoid pushing any of the paint under the stencil. They have fancy stenciling brushes, but an older brush that is a little frayed can work just fine 😊

Nice makeover! I encourage you to get a simple glass cutter, you can cut most frame glass quite easily. You will be able to get that finished look for future projects and save money too! Keep creating and sharing your art journey, I know that we are enjoying watching your videos, thanks!

Spider chic... I like it 😍 For future reference it's a jewelry box that happens to play music. And brushstrokes aren't the way to go with a stencil, try gently dabbing paint on with a sponge brush and cleaning the stencil in between each use for a crisper look. 🙂

Photo frame glass would have likely fit in the windows without needing to cut it. ETA: stipple, don't panit with regular brush strokes for stencils. It keeps it from seeping underneath the edges of a stencil. Stippling brushes or a foam brush works well for that.

Hello there! To stencil you need to use a semi dry brush and pounce it. There are special brushes for stenciling. The bristles are flat on the end so you can pounce the brush straight up and down. It also helps to tape the stencil down so it doesn’t move around. I stenciled my kitchen floor with autumn leaves. I made the stencils from real leaves. I found this method to work the best so you don’t get paint oozing underneath the stencil. You can layer the paint to get deeper color. Let each coat dry first, doesn’t take long as you are putting paint down with a semi dry brush. Hope this helps with any future stenciling.

When stenciling actually try using a sponge to dab the paint. Painting with a brush causes a lift of the stencil but the straight up and down motion of the sponge helps prevent that.

I love it!!!! Stencils are tricky! I usually clean mine between each use. And sometimes a stamper or polka dot sponge works better than a brush?? But it came out amazing!!!!!!

Its really awesome to see this kind of style unique and fun, a tip when using stencils try a sponge brush and dab the paint on also if your worried about wrecking your work use varnish to make layers that way if u mess up you can wipe the paint off without having to start over or do alot of touch ups.

Best way to use stencils, with stencil brushes or sponges ( dollar tree makeup ones work well). Also cleaning your stencil on the back before moving to do another. Paint builds up and creates problems.

I really love this it is so cute. With a stencil pounce up and down, or swirl. You could just cut a piece of sponge and use that instead of buying a stencil brush. Also when hammering on something that is painted put a towel in between to not ruin your finish.

Using a paintbrush with a stencil can lift or shift parts of the stencil and smudge paint underneath. Sponging the paint on generally does a better job of not making a mess. It looks great though! I love Sniffledorf!

Next time I suggest you use the sanding stick from your “Not another Crap Kit” box to get into the places that Sanding Block can’t reach. When you use a stencil it’s better to use a sponge or thick brush & dab the paint on. Using brush strokes is why you got outside the lines. I like the piece & I hope my suggestions help❤️

I really like this makeover! All the little touches perfect it. For the stencils,if you reused a spider and it still had leftover paint on the underside,that may have been why they smudged,or maybe just having too much paint on your brush. I would suggest a sponge to dab it on for stencils,but stencils are tricky. I also always love seeing Sniffledorf!

I LOVE IT! I think in my experience, stencils work better with an almost dry brush and stippling technique.

I love Sniffledorf so much! Also if you need tiny stencils again you might want to look into nail vinyls - I know they have small spiders and they might work a bit better since they kind of stick to the paint and then you can just peel them up. Just an idea if you ever need something similar again.
