Same, 60’s and 70’s in the California suburbs. We had one on the edge of our neighborhood, along with an Alpha-Beta Supermarket. My friends and I started out young riding our Schwinn Stingray bicycles up to Thrifty’s for a double scoop. As we got older, we were on our Schwinn Varsity, and Continental 10 speeds. My flavor always alternated between rocky road, and chocolate chip mint. (The wonder years, for sure). Blessings…
With a normal scoop you can fill the cone. This just seems to be stacking it all on top just like those normal scoops you're complaining about, the only difference being they allow you to take smaller scoops to pack the cone.
It looks as though the ice cream sits on top of the cone. So...the cone itself stays empty unless the ice cream starts melting? I don't know about anyone else, but I've always thought the bottom of the cone and the ice cream in it were the best parts (together).
Okay maybe it doesnt fill the ice cream inside of the cone, Who gives a hoot. Its the nostalgia i like. Brings back fond memories and it just looks better on a cone instead of all mushy. Its all about presentation. LOL.
@@clarindapowell3054 Thank you for watching! www.riteaid.com/shop/thrifty-stainless-steel-cylindrical-ice-cream-scoop-1ct Or Thrifty Old Time Ice Cream Scooper Rite Aid | Original Stainless Steel Scoop | Cylinder Ice Cream Scoop with Trigger | Commercial Grade Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop | Ice Cream Scooper with Trigger a.co/d/iErtn5z
and i could keep going... um no miss you only have a pint of ice cream not a gallon you can't continue, your ice cream journey ends until you go to the store again lol
Thanks for the review. You cracked me up with your sound effects and comments. You are a meanie (LOL) for using the best flavor in the world that I can't get in South Carolina. I have been bragging to the kids about the double malted crunch for a while and BAM.... you use it for an example and prove my point to the kids by saying is there anything better? I think NOT.....cool video thanks
You are so sweet! Thank you for your comment! You definitely need the glorious Chocolate Malted Krunch to help with the South Carolina humidity this summer. I'm so glad you called it "double" malted crunch. I haven't been able to find proof of this online, but I know for a fact that it used to start with the word "double". I hope you have a fantastic day and that some day when you are on the West Coast your kids will get to try Thrifty's ice cream :)
Yes, girl! Double Chocolate Malted Krunch for the win! Krunch is now with a "K" and not a "C"...I wonder if the original spelling was a K or a C...hmm.....
Heck yeah! I love me some Thrifty's Chocolate Malted Crunch!!! I've been enjoying it since I moved to California in 1979. Now I have to get that ice cream scoop along with my favorite ice cream. Thanks for reviewing!
I watched this after I ordered a scooper. I was worried. I bought it from the Rite Aid Website, but many of the Amazon reviews scared me. Thanks for this review, I'm very excited now!!!!! How is your scooper holding up?
Same. I haven’t got mine in yet mine cost 30 dollars and I saw the reviews and we shall see. It seems like it would work one time in the top but we shall see
Same design as Thrifty and maybe someone bought the rights? I’ve worked at Thrifty’s and I know their scoops. Solid stainless that digs through the hardest I’ve cream. I also have one of the new Thrifty’s scoop and although it works, it probably wouldn’t hold up to the hard stuff. It’s lightweight and just not made as well.
Yes, girl! I meant to give it to you for Christmas when I bought these, but I was waiting to make this video, lol. Back then they weren't available online, so it worked out :)
