I am a practicing hematologist/oncologist. This is the first time i have actually understood thromboelastography. Good job sir. i do not understand why the maximum clot strength would be a function of platelets. It would seem to be more related in my mind to factor XIII and fibrin cross linking
Because Maximal strenght of platelets depends on platelet agregation through GbIIb/IIIa receptor interaction ,abnormality in this receptor means that you would not had maximal Strenght of clot.
The R time will represent the “ initiation “ of the clot ,so as to say formation of the first fibrin strand. While as Clotting time ( ROTEM etc) represents the time taken to form a complete clot ......is this right ? Or are R time and CT analogous completely to each other?
