put a new one on every 65k miles, they are a part that wears internally, along with this sensor replace the o2 sensors every 85 k mi too, along with oil changes and new air clearner elements ,you will run and run and get programmed fuel economy, mine just changed,i practice what i preach, retired ase tech of 47 years, yes parts wear out,its the way of it,no time for breakdowns
A faulty TPS caused my ssangyong with merc engine not want to go into 4th gear or not stay in 4th gear. Error message suggested TPS fault. Replaced TPS solved problem. Easy.
Hi. I've got a 2003 Montero Limited 3.8L. Twice so far (1,000 miles apart) mine has gone into a condition where it will not accelerate. It idles and starts fine, but will not go over 40mph on level road, and takes a long time to get to that speed (severel minutes). It will be fine one moment and then begin this malfunction in the middle of driving it, in town or on interstate. I do have a TPS sensor code (P2135) but also cam and crankshaft sensors codes. The timing system is fine and it doesn't jerk or do anything strange except refuse to accelerate. I can turn it off and after 20 minutes it will operate fine again. Is the the TPS sensor getting hot and then it fails?
In this case, try to get back to basic, change all fuel filter and clean air filter, clean airflows sensor, if the TPS signal always mulfunction beter change the TPS,,and if your car is automatic transmission chage the fluid and change the fluid filter and clean the strainer and fill with design AT fluid on your Transmision.😊
Thank you for the video, pls my Honda Accord 07 is consuming too much fuel lately and at times goes high and low on it's own. Some mechanic are saying no catalyst that's why. What should I do?
Removing catalyst is not a caused of large fuel consumption, what can i suggest for now is, try to used DTC scanner, to check the injector flow, the map sensor, and other sensor related to the engine performance or to the fuel system,, My Suggestion,: change air cleaner, clean throtle body, clean air intake and exhaust manifold ( so that the engine can breath) intake manifold gasket replace, Clean the VTI strainer, flush the exhaust pipe from the engine, choose light tires, my suggestion make your car low fuel consumption and engine operates in normal condition,.
What if the tps sensor is not moving normal can we clean using electronic cleaner or anything? My car stock in 2 weeks. if i start d engine the engine stop
Hello can u help. I got bmw e46 320d automatic transmition: when accelerating or when holding steady gas for example driving with 80kmh rpms jump up or bounce down. When restarting the transmition parameters i get 300-400km of normal driving with no problems and then the same starts occurring. Please help
I think first you need a diagnostic scanner to check for any abnormal system, but if you want to try any basic, try to clean your throtlebody, fuelfilter change check also fuel strainer and aircleaner this are the basic which need to clean if it thesame better used a DTC SCANNER
@@andammixed tried changing the fuelfilter and air filter also pluging in on scanners car shows no codes, on dashboard no check engine or transmition problem light. Every mechanic is suggesting to change the torque converter bcz they say its damaged ( car also makes grinding noise for 2-3 secounds when cold acceleration 40kmh) and transmition oil and filter change. Im just amazed how can the reseting the transmition perimetars stop the problem for 300-400km if it is mechanical problem…
My 1993 F 150 started idling way to high ( no tach but probably 1400RPM ). I unplugged the TPS and the idle went to normal. I drove it around the block with it unhooked and it actually drove ok with it disconnected (?!). I take it that I need to replace the TPS but it seems crazy that it idles and accelerates pretty decent with it not hooked up.
Try to do basic PMS sir clean all air filters, the intake manifold, check the gasket if damages and hoses or any vacuum leak,, this are one cause of high idle or unstable idle
Please check for air leak, throtle body, intake manifold and check all hose's, damage hose or suction air leak can cause unstable rpm during engine operation
When I drop the accelerator, the engine is hanging a few seconds before rpm is dropping. TPS problem? Other than that the engine is running fine.No warning lights.
@@andammixed I have a plug & display OBD2 on the car dashboard. At 750rpm MAF at 4.7g/second, throttle valve body 17.2% open, MAP at 7.35psi. After cleaning the throttle valve body throttle valve body at 14.9% open. No change in MAF and MAP. Car is 1.8 litre. At 750rpm this 1.8litre has a calculated air intake flow of 1.8 x 750/2/60x relative air density = 5.7g/second. But the intake valves for most engines only are closed at about 50 to 60 crankshaft degrees after BDC so this air flow readings of 4.7g/second is my reference of a good air flow by MAF for this engine at 750rpm. So for any old car it is good to have an OBD2 kept on dashboard. Record obd2 display using handphone and review it later. Many other parameters can be recorded like SFTL, LTFL, O2 sensor, rpm, speed, iat, etc etc. These values or reading are interrelated.
