This is a video about snatch. / van_blamm
The lightswitch-like throttle is one of the few complaints that I and other Speed Twin owners have about this bike. A cheap and clever solution from Ducati Spacers (www.ducatispacers.com) purports to eliminate throttle snatch in any motorcycle that uses this particular throttle unit. Installing mine took about ten minutes, after which I recorded my impressions of the newly-upgraded throttle.

When i bought mine last July the salesman told me it had a little snatch and i exclaimed SOLD! I was disappointed later, but i too installed this mod.

I recently ordered a spacer kit for my speed twin. Should be here in he next day or so. It's said to make a world of difference! Enjoying the content btw! 🤟🇬🇧

I have a Street Twin with the same clatchy throttle by wire...put the spacers in ...made a world of difference. No more play and just positive response. Just be careful of potholes.

Like you, I've installed the spacers, and I find the same. Its helped, but not totally eliminated the snatch. I find I just feather the clutch a bit in stop go situations. Just like I used to do on my old Dominator in the 60's ! All adds to the retro experience !

Thanks for the vid. I am still not convinced though. And I don’t want to modify my throttle housing with something that can break and clog things. I have noticed that Road mode is jerky but Sport mode is much better ! Sport mode and proper throttle gripping works for me :) problem solved!

Booster plug + throttle spacer. Is what I use on my 2019 speed twin if that doesn’t work, power commander and a tune would be perfect.

The spacers don't really do much. Just learning the throttle does more, and going into the ECU and playing with the ride by wire tables does a lot more, and a tune... I didn't bother with the spacers because I didn't find the 2022 Speed Twin all that snatchy to begin with

Make sure you get the ones from Ducati-Spacers there's some cheaper ones on sale that are really difficult to fit due to poor sizing, I had to file them a bit on mine and wished I had paid the extra few pounds, They say you get what you pay for, But hey they are in and working fine, it's a great mod and makes a big difference. PS mine is always in sport mode, hardly ever use rain or road. Great bike love mine

Hi Brother really need your guidance. I m looking to put The handlebar in my Triump speed twin. I have seen that the wire of clutch is little short I wanted your advice can I change the wire with the Triump scrambler 1200 because it has a bigger wire than the Triump speed twin. please advise.

I don't like the sport mode either and use mostly the rain mode, even with the throttle spacers. And I agree that the spacers are great and worth using, but don't change the general responsiveness of the throttle to a new level. It remains snatchy, because most of it comes from the engine characteristics. My next mod will be the Arton vintage gauge. They have a really cool classic and clean look.

Nice video - I especially like your camera angles (I had my Go Pro suctioned to my tank last week and I just couldn't relax imagining it flying off). As for this cheap mod, I'm pretty happy that my X-pipe minimized the snatchy behaviour- and I don't think I can pop this spacer in AND install the cruise control (Atlas Throttle Lock) gadget I've purchased. Are you familiar with this product - it's very slick my Speedie friend ....

Thanks! An x-pipe is almost certainly in my future; it's just a matter of deciding when I want to sit down and fiddle my way through the installation. I personally don't feel a need for cruise control, so I didn't have to worry about that when doing the spacer mod.

I’ve got a Tiger 800 and find road mode to be snatchy but the throttle is more responsive in sport mode so mainly use that unless it’s raining.

Since making this video I have made myself get accustomed to Sport mode. Now I pretty much only use that and Rain.

Hmmm, I'd check the Ducati Spacers website to see if they offer one for that model. Otherwise, maybe look and see if my throttle unit is the same as a T100

I have exactly the same problem with the tiger, and i am very frustrated with it, And this kit dont fit the tiger. Any suggestions?

Hmm, I have heard that a full exhaust upgrade, or at least a decat, will also help smooth out most throttles. Those are a little more expensive, of course, but they bring other benefits in addition...

I added these to my speed twin yesterday. I noticed that I have to sometimes manually close the throttle, meaning that if I just let go of the throttle it does not always completely return to closed. Instead, it may return to a position where the idle is about 2000 RPMs instead of 1000. Has anyone else had this issue? Will it break in?

Hmmm I haven't had that issue. I can only think of two things: you somehow overtightened the bar-end weights when reinstalling them, so they are pressing on the throttle tube and causing it to stay open due to friction (like how a throttle lock works); or the spacers you got were ever so slightly out of spec -- could be that a little extra material from a mold seam makes enough difference for the TPS to notice. A throttle that won't snap shut is unsafe. Even though 2000rpm isn't much, if it's sticking there then it may only take a slight shift for it to stick at 5000. If I were you I'd uninstall the spacers and figure this out before riding again. Thanks for watching, and I hope you get it sorted out. It really is a worthwhile mod.

When I go into a turn, I’m never completely off the gas so I don’t see how the spacers will make this smoother. The slack in the throttle is from off to on, which is bothersome in stop and go traffic but not in canyons. I think if we spend a $1000 on a Power Commander and a dyno tune, these problems would go away. I think it’s a fuel map problem. Of course, it’s terrible to spend this much money for a bike that needs that sort of manipulation just to run properly. Let me ask all of you a completely different question. Do you get a lot of heat coming out of the right side? I admit it’s around 100 degrees F here right now, but I’ve noticed this on lots of days in the 80s.

My pace is such that I'm braking into most curves, so I am frequently encountering the jerkiness. I expect it to smooth out even more when I eventually do a decat. And YES! I am planning to talk about the heat when I do an updated owner's review, but it is my #1 complaint about the Speed Twin. The amount of heat it gives off is truly unbelievable. Anytime the temperature outside is over 80F in the swamp where I live, it feels like I'm sitting over an open flame. I find that whichever side is in direct sunlight is hotter. I've heard that a decat may help with that too. I'm also hoping it will feel a little cooler running on mountain air when I ship out to Colorado next month.

I don't think it's intentional. Triumph just chose to source a part that's built with looser tolerances, no doubt to pinch pennies

Hmmm I'm not sure. The Ducati Spacers site lists a bunch of Bonnevilles but not the T120. I'm seeing on bikebandit that the Speed Twin and T120 throttles have different part numbers; Could be the T120 uses a different unit to accommodate the optional cruise control.

@@stephenricketts2067 . Fitted it today on my speed twin, and the seller at SQUAREDEALS (UK) LTD told me the spacer kit fits all Triumph "Fly by wire" applications. So should work for your T120.
