Stumbled upon this via a google search... presentation was good, and good on you for putting in the time, but I think it would benefit viewers more if you fully understood what you were doing here before trying to teach it. Especially on a topic like this where users can actually physically damage their systems if they go the wrong direction.

Undervolting works best when in battery saver mode. With Throttlestop kicked in my laptop(2019 P1 Gen 2 with 110 offset/turbo-boost off) feels like 30% more juice!

When Running TSBench I Get Errors But No Bluescreen, What To Do ?

Nice video, I had already undervolted but was looking for an explanation of some of the other general settings and this is a good quick overview. I am pretty lucky with the undervolt, after stress testing initially, and gaming for hours since, I am completely stable at -137.7. Although I did drop it to -134.8 since just because it makes little difference and keeps two levels between the unstable level and where I am to be even more certain.

on my computer DELL inspiron 15 7000 with nvidia geforce gtx 1650ti says locked out which means i cant change anything in the FIVR settings. how do i remedy that

I've been getting fps drops in minecraft a lot of the time (from 150 fps to 18 fps constantly) and I believed that it was because of cpu throttling, however, it didn't make much of a difference in game. I also tried changing all of the minecraft in game settings as well as nvidia control panel to highest performance. I also have the lenovo 730 yoga with the same specs. Are you aware of any other problems that might cause these fps drops? Thanks

Somehow, I got about -160.2mv on the core now before I was confused because I could set it to -1000 which wouldn't make sense as my cpu uses that much and it shows no change in the voltage usage. I realised by watching this that i should put my cpu cache higher than my core so i put it at about -185.5mv and it works fine now! Much lower temps and a bit better battery. tysm

great video. i have hp pavilion 15 with 1050ti corei7 laptop.-150mv was perfect for me (try it) and the "turning on" part i didn't know so tnx i thought green was on. one thing to add is install "core temp" you will see the difference in the temp. values. thanks bro!

You mention CPU Cache needs to be higher than CPU Core. So if i set my undervolt to something like -70mV does the cache needs to be at -71 or -69?

Whats up bro, I have an Asus Rog Strix Scar 2 (GL704GW model) and its new, but I found a lot of issues with it like coil whine, and this problem with the CPU (Intel I7-8750H) (I checked a lot of forums and it’s normal in this models) I tried the pc with some games, for example fortnite, I saw a lot of reviews and benchmarks about it and the average fps with all in ultra are in 120 fps+, but in my case the fps average is 60-70 and there are a lot of fps falls, so I was planning to undervolting it but I’m afraid (I don’t know a lot of software’s laptops and things like that’s so... that’s de problem) because you mentioned the blue screen of the dead and some crashes. Have trialled Throttlestop, capping MHz for all six cores down to 2600Mhz, seen temps drop to around 70c, and yet the laptop still goes into standby in VR, and sometimes I still see all 6 cores running at 3996 Mhz?

I undervolted my helios 300 and there was a pretty good temp decrease. But one of the games (horizon zero dawn) was playing choppy after the undervolting. I checked gta 5 and was working smoothly before and after undervolt. Is is because of the game or due to undervolting?

When I am playing total war warhammer 2 i reach 96 degrees so I stopped it immediatelly. The system doesnt allow me to undervolt it. Do you think I should return it? Do you know what is the problem? My results on the Lenovo Y740 & 9750H Stock - AC Sereral seconds of hitting Turbo wattage limit 90W - effective 40x multiplier Continues wattage hitting limit 70W - effective 34x-35x multiplier Stock - Battery Continues wattage hitting limit 42W - effective 26x multiplier Undervolted - AC - cache -135mv / cpu -400mv* Turbo & continues using only 66W - continues effective 40x multiplier! Battery Wattage 21W - effective 23x multiplier * This value is "somewhat applied". It gives slightly better in wattage (1.5Watt) when set to -400mv or -1000mv than having it matched with the cache of -135mv. No mather how low, the CPU won't crash, some other factor is preventing it for going to low. I also started out lowering only the CPU voltage, and that got me half way, so it's doing someting when it's not linked to the cache voltage, but it's mechanic is very unclear to me. I had a few issues getting Throttlestop starting at startup correctly. At one point, the undervolt didn't apply completly and was not visible on the taskbar, but still running in the background. But after following every instruction to the letter, it worked. Saving is huge on the undervolt The temporary Wattage limit of 90W is never used, and now contentiously hitting it's max. 6 core turbo of 40x wile only using 66W. Before it was only capable of 40x during a few seconds of 90W, while getting close to 95*c and thermal throttling while fans where speeding up. Not it's quiter, only hitting 80*c max. On battery with the same undervolt profile it's a bit slower, 23x instead of 26x, but only using 21W instead of 42W, so a 50% save on power usage compared to stock for only a slight performance decrease. I basically get 90W stock 40x boost performance for 66W undervolted continuously 40x. going lower with the cache that -135mv made the cpu give errors on TSbench and sometimes crashes on normal use. For now -135mv seems stable, and I think overall a good piece of silicon. Cine-bench R20 score - stock 2550, undervolted 3016 This is including the temporary boost, in longer benchmarks the difference would be even bigger.
