Since 1929, the Thüringerwaldbahn, a metre-gauge interurban tram, connects Bad Tabarz, Friedrichroda and Waltershausen with the city of Gotha. Within the city’s boundaries, the Waldbahn trams, also known as line 4, use the tracks of the municipal tram network. The rolling stock consists mostly of the Tatra KT4D type, most of them came here as second-hand cars from Erfurt. Starting in 2011, some Düwag GT8 trams with a low-floor midsection were bought from Mannheim.
In this video, we follow the route from Bad Tabarz through forests and wide meadows all the way to the Gotha railway station. The video was recorded in October, with the colorful nature providing a beautiful background.
