Sang this at a bar for karaoke night. Man if you ever find yourself in a country town bar on a Friday evening I’d say give it a shot because everyone sang along and loved it! It was exhilarating.
Religion aside, can we all at least agree that Stephen Schwartz is one hell of a composer, and Brian Stokes Mitchell is an incredible singer? Two thumbs up to both of them and every single performer on stage, because this was an absolute masterpiece of a performance!
@@KateMondor because its a song for a film about a biblical story. Its written so in the opening of the movie. The entire MOVIE is about religion. Its got EVERYTHING to do with this.
@@KateMondorYou're the only one who brought up anything about Jews here, none of us were hating on Jewish people! In fact, I have deep respect, love and compassion for ALL anti-Zionist, Jewish allies joining alongside us to protest Palestine's 75+ year GENOCIDE! I love all my Jewish brothers and sisters uniting with pro-Palestinian advocates to call out the many war-crimes and atrocities committed by Israel's apartheid-state & Zionist-terrorists! ❤ FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸
The purpose of the Exodus was 2 fold 1. To receive the Torah at Mt. Sinai 2. To enter the Land of Canaan soon to be Israel, the Land promised to the Patriarchs and Matriarchs of the slaves for the purpose of keeping the Torah there especially the agricultural commandments given at Sinai. One has to be vacuous to not be informed of something so basic that after Sinai, the promise of the Land of Israel, is repeated over and over again on every page of Scripture from Exodus to Deuteronomy. @@abeltesfaye_
@@abeltesfaye_ the word genocide has lost all meaning, a big part of genocide is the INTENT if Israel wanted to actually commit genocide they have enough firepower to destroy Gaza 20 times over, but they haven't done that also the population of Gaza has only gone UP for the last 15 years, so Israel really SUCKS at this genocide thing
2:41 “… Dance with me!” - couldn’t help it guys, sorry😅 But seriously wow. You know a good singer when they sound basically 99% identical to the studio recording. This was magnificent
Me and my cousin (both Muslim) love the movie and this song. We were going through a tough time in our 20s and this song made us cry. It's a good song dudes.
I am Christian and still it’s not easy to look my life through heaven’s eye. I keep on asking Lord. But I am praying everyday so that I could trust in him.
how does he sound better even than the movie - this song has such a profound effect on me - as an agnostic it always reminds to be grateful … whatever religion or not you have
I'm an atheist and I fully agree ❤ Even though I'm not religious, I love this movie and the beautiful songs in it, particularly this one sang by Brian!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
From a secular world view you guys think it’s about religion but it’s more than religion religion is man made it’s about Jesus Jesus isn’t a religion he’s God and also came down as a man and humbled himself and showed us how we should act think and behave. He never sinned he followed the father perfectly without sin.
"When all you've got is nothing, there's alot to go around" That line speaks such volumes. Many people love The Plauges and/or Deliver Us but this song is my favorite song in the whole film, heck - one of my favorite showtunes ever. It reminds us that if we ever feel like our life has no worth, it truly does on the grand scheme of things. I am not a Christian or Jew, but this will always be one of my favorite movies. Such a beautiful story.
BSM is one of the best singers there is, and nothing beats his version of this song. The song may have some low tones in it, but it has a G4, too, which is pretty high, and not all singers can switch easily from extreme lows to extreme heights. Brian is one of them.
A single thread in a tapestry Though its color brightly shines Can never see its purpose In the pattern of the grand design And the stone that sits on the very top Of the mountains mighty face Does it think it's more important Than the stones that form the base? So how can you see what your life is worth Or where your value lies? You can never see through the eyes of man You must look at your life Look at your life through heaven's eyes Lai-le-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai La-lai-lai-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai-lai Lai-le-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai La-lai-lai-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai-lai Lai-le-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai La-lai-lai-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai-lai A lake of gold in the desert sand Is less than a cool fresh spring And to one lost sheep, a shepherd boy Is greater than the richest king If a man loses everything he owns Has he truly lost his worth? Or is it the beginning Of a new and brighter birth? So how do you measure the worth of a man In wealth or strength or size? In how much he gained or how much he gave? The answer will come The answer will come to him who tries To look at his life through heaven's eyes And that's why we share all we have with you Though there's little to be found When all you've got is nothing There's a lot to go around No life can escape being blown about By the winds of change and chance And though you never know all the steps You must learn to join the dance You must learn to join the dance Lai-le-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai La-lai-lai-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai-lai Lai-le-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai La-lai-lai-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai-lai Lai-le-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai La-lai-lai-lai-lai-lee-lai-lai Lai-lai-lai-lai-lai-lai So how do you judge what a man is worth By what he builds or buys? You can never see with your eyes on earth Look through heaven's eyes Look at your life Look at your life Look at your life through heaven's eyes
This is such a great performance. Came looking for it again. PIty it looks like the HQ version is gone from the Tabernacle Choir channel. I swear it was there several years ago and had a ton of views. Probalby some copyright thing.
It's sad that these will never be bee movies that we see like this again because Hollywood has gone down a road that they can never come back down from but luckily there's studios like Angel studios that are able to pick up the pieces from where they left them
Brother I'm with you God has called me to be a drama director and a music writer for his kingdom and I'm working on a drama script called the adventure's of moses it's going to be biblically accurate.
Wonderful voice, but here it's just too dominant. No passion, no conviction... Did the singer even know what he was singing and what mood it should convey?
The movie was also in 1998 his voice will likely change slightly. And he’s probably sung it many times. No one can sing the same thing the same exact way.
I get your view from the audio but performance wise, considering the context of the program and venue, he was absolutely perfect here; quite captivating on his own merit and vocal ability.
