We drive through the Namib desert from Luderitz to Walvis Bay in Namibia on a trip than can only be done with a concession holder. Along the way we see relics and abandoned equipment from the diamond mining era, drive past the ghost towns of Holsatia, Charlottenvelder and Grillenberger, visit the wrecks of the Eduard Bohlen (1909) and the Shawnee (1976), camp in the middle of nowhere and almost get caught by the sea at the Langewand dunes, where there is no escape route. This part was way beyond our comfort zone! The trip also included lots and lots of dune driving with tyres deflated to 0.8bar. At first we did not believe the guides that such low pressures were necessary, but they were.
