I use two folding (popup) laundry containers from amazon ($11 each). One line in each hamper. There is a pocket on the side that keeps the throw weight out of the hamper. I tie a second weight on the end of the line (bottom). I use notch acculine (1.75) the most. It doesn't have much "memory". Before I fold the hamper, I flip the throwline from the bottom onto the side wall, then fold. I can usually unfold, shoot or throw straight out of the hamper, pull the line back into the hamper, then fold it and stow it. There's plenty of options, it's just what has inexpensively worked for me. Hope this helps someone out. Thanks for the video Spencer!

I use an idea I got from treeboi4life video. Just flake your line into a 2 gallon bucket. Place a circle piece of cardboard with a slit on top. You can throw the line straight out of the bucket. Works great. Thanks for your vids!
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 2 года назад
I love the treeboi4life channel but must have missed that one ... the smooth sides of the bucket must make the line flow nicely. Will have to use that technique! thanks man
@hosocat1410
@hosocat1410 2 года назад
@@metaspencer the cardboard with the slit just keeps the end of the throw line from getting lost down in the bucket. You remove the cardboard before using. I flake my line into the bucket, place the cardboard on top of line and run end of line thru slit, then place my throw bags on top. I use a 2 gallon kilz primer plastic bucket. It's still working good for almost 3 years. Only problem is you can't let it roll over, or everything will spill out.

I have 4 cubes and a few spare spools of line wrapped around spare throwballs. I’m an expert at getting them stuck in the tree, and I’ve found it helps to have spares. 2 throwballs in each cube, by the way. I still get them stuck often, but whenever that happens I can just throw another one up, and then another, and then another…so there’s no point in starting the day off in frustration. Cool video, as usual 😎
@metaspencer

Good to hear I'm not the only one who gets them stuck ... I climbed a Catalpa the other day that was pretty decorated with throw lines by the time I got up there :)

I hate to admit it but my first throw line and bag was paracord and a small water bottle weighted down with either water or sand. Hey, it worked. Of course once I tried the real thing, the paracord was divided up amongst other projects and ideas where as the water/sand bottle went to the museum of fine recyclable ♻️ 🙃

I put the throw bag in the pocket in the cube after flaking the throwline - weight still attached to line - and I throw directly out of it. I am a total amateur. I also only have 1 throwline in the cube. The other end of the throw line I have tied to the bottom of the cube so it doesn't interfere with flaking in or feeding out when I throw. I have an extra roll of throwline for "just in case" but haven't needed it yet.

I’m a cube guy. The two pockets on each side inside are for throw bags on each end. I find it’s easiest to flake back in when done. You didn’t mention that for you other methods. I guess you add a tarp to avoid tangling in twigs. Also a good line is key. You should try 1.75 zing it. It’s really strong and smooth and rarely tangles. All the tops of my oak are finely down. Just gotta work on the stem with my 24” 2511t ;).
