Right! I swear I had 3-4 separate occasions of being frustrated with myself for not being able to deduce someone's identity when they were unblurred, but then patting myself on the back like a minute later having caught a tiny detail that identifies someone. Such a good game

Something to reassure you that everyone finds and misses different things in this game - I think you're the first person I've seen use the locations in the chapters to find the corpses in the present. It's also not that common that people immediately notice that the sender of the book & watch was aboard the ship

I love that this game uses the clothing of characters and the languages they speak, even their dialects and accents, to establish not only their identity but also the specific historical moment it takes place in! Very neat. Also it is hard to see some mistakes, haha, but it makes it sweeter when you figure them out!

Of the Obra Dinn LPs I've looked into (I'd say "watched" but I tend to nope out quick of a lot of them) you're actually the best so far at understanding the game mechanics. Which might sound like I'm damning with faint praise, but a lot of the mechanic elements are pretty arbitrary and/or obtuse, and I've seen a lot of people struggle with them. e.g. the written location clues, understanding when and how you can interact with the book, the reverse linearity of sections, stuff like that. I wouldn't worry about how it's coming across. It's fine. As long as you're getting a fulfilling experience out of it, it's fun to watch.

Im very much enjoying this playthrough, you're great at interpreting the visuals of the different scenes! And it's not frustrating because I can tell you are having a great time and fully immersed, and you are missing things only because human brains do that sometimes That said, you did give permisiion to gently laugh at you, so - \*chapter is called "Murder"\* \*guy gets executed because he is accused of murdering a particular *named* person\* \*you go one scene back and see someone get murdered\* "How am I supposed to know who this guy is?" Edit: you do get it later, as I knew you would - the delayed realization is still funny lol

Tbh I think you're doing an excellent job trying to deduce the tragic events on the Obra Dinn. Your methods not at all being out of the ordinary if you'd ask me. I mean it's easily overwhelming, whether you're experienced in solving murder-mysteries or not. Anyway for now it has all been highly entertaining watching you put it together your own way, at your own pace. Whether you interpreted the memories correctly or misunderstood, it doesn't matter that much. That being said you intro was highly appreciated but unnecessary imo. People who can't stay patient without you explicitly asking them to be need to relax and learn to enjoy and respect that this isn't a competition for 'Best Detective' but simply a first, blind and unique player experience.

Its so interesting how you and so many other streamers I've watched approach this game. We're so trained by AAA detective games (LA noire, sherlock, etc) that all the answers you need are given to you on a platter as highlighted objects, wrtitten down clues and where the game will give you the right answer if you play long enough. This game takes a different approach, its not necessarily a better approach, but its different. The answers you need are not summarised in the book, you're expected to pay attention to the death vignettes and take your own notes, the clues in the scene are not summarised for you. This goes against the grain of game design trends so I think its very understandable that many people have to basically learn how to play this game.

You actually ended up bruteforcing the formossans before the game simply named Sia for you, please try to avoid this. I want to see you actually figure things out, or at least investigate, no matter how slow or incorrect it may be. It's perfectly fine making mistake in this game. The game doesn't even punish you for making the wrong assumptions other than by halting your progress, because you're always suppose to go back to it later. As someone who has always loved detective stories and by extension detective games, I think this might be the best one because it's also the least "handholdy" of these types of games. It rewards you for your observation and patience, and even encourages you to make educated guesses rather than provide you the whole information all the time and just making it missable.

The part I loved about playing this game was discovering a new way of uncovering identities. At first I was trying to identify people based solely on the dialogue (either names or positions), then I started trying to figure things out based on hats and who people were hanging out with in their spare time (like the Russians playing cards). And then I noticed some numbers in one of the memories and linked them to numbers I saw elsewhere. Yeah, it makes you feel dumb sometimes, but then it makes you feel super smart at other times when you make a huge deduction.

There is backseat gaming, and then there is this kind of behaviour that a few people show assuming it is okay to dictate how others should play their games, with little consideration to keep their tone or message within the boundaries of constructive criticism. In no version of reality that is considered healthy or correct. That you came here to a video that was posted two days ago to pour negativity, about another video that was posted today... Yeah, the first thirty minutes so far is just him trying to brute force guess everything without actually going back through memories to figure things out the right way. Infuriating. Mapo is better than this. UPDATE: First hour is him still just brute forcing a majority of the identities via guessing and not necessarily knowing WHY someone is who they are. No wonder he turned the comments off on part 3. He knew he'd get so much flak for this. FINAL UPDATE: I finished Part 3. Mapo fundamentally misunderstands or isn't aware of core mechanics, like using the transcript and seeing that the X refers to the person who died. Additionally, he keeps thinking that people are dying in memories where he is seeing them and not where they actually died. He brute forced guessed about 85% of the video and only the last ten to fifteen minutes did he actually solve some fates by using clues and not guessing. That was a ROUGH one and I expected more out of Mapo over him playing the game this way.

A little dismayed to see you figure out the identities of a couple of the Formosa people by playing the percentages and process of elimination. Yes, it is a valid way to operate, but playing the 50/50 game ("If I don't get confirmation it's THIS person, then it must be the other person") kind of robs you of legitimately figuring it out later through actual clues. In this particular case if you had just waited and went through some more "memories" it becomes quite clear which person is which. But hey, it IS a hard game, and I did a little of the brute force method myself with some of the harder people at the end. So.... I suppose, "let he who has not sinned throw the first stone" kind of applies.

@1:22::50 _Chioh Tan. Process of elimination_ Excuse me, but that's *absolutely not a Process of Elimination.* but is called *Random Trial & Error.* Process of Elimination is deleting options, one at a time, from a group of options, where the possibility of an option being correct is significantly lower than the other options. It goes this way: It can't be no.1 so we delete it, then can't be no.3 & we delete it, so *eliminating 1 &3 , we conclude (though not guaranteed) that it must be no. 2.*
