A detailed video of how to make a large lid in one sitting, by using a propane torch. The clay I’m using is sold by Free Form Clay and Supply. The ceramic properties of this cone-10 clay allow it to be dried to a point, where it is completely stiff to the touch. It’s call “Bruce’s White”. It’s pugged by Laguna Clay Company, but sold through Free Form. It is a rough clay with grog and sand, but is still a good throwing clay. If you tried making this lid with porcelain or a smooth body clay like B-Mix, the rapid drying would crack the surface, especially when it’s thick. WSO by Laguna Clay is also a very rough clay and I’ve used it for several years, but it’s throwing properties aren’t quite as good.
