In this video, I demonstrate taking two balls of clay, each around 9 lbs, and center the first, then apply the second ball to the top of the centered and ribbed first one and continue to center. This is a great trick to center very large pieces of clay with a bit less energy than might otherwise be required. Especially if you have physical limitations of strength!
After the form is thrown in this video, I allowed it to dry slowly, over a few days to get evenly leatherhard so I could trim it.
I am using an 18" Plastibat (from Amaco) and Laguna B-Mix with grog cone 5. My very noisy wheel is an old Thomas Stuart wheel. It works fine... just a bit noisy!
