It breaks my heart to see old Rock Island rolling stock. My Grand Father and My dad worked for the Rock. Dad was an Engineer and he passed before the Rock died, so he did not have to see the end of a once proud rail line. My youngest sister worked as Brakeman till the end.
To Virtual Railfan I like to say big thank you to you guys. The last past six months I been going through a tough time. It’s through your videos at been helping me get threw this, by looking forward to watching them. So thank you. Happy New year to you all. 🍺
BOING on a red aspect was a nice treat @ 27:12; Always enjoy the rocket launch from three different camera angels and the Darwin updates are a blast. Thanks
0:14 the weird blue thing again 3:14 I think we saw these two in Oklahoma in the last grab bag 4:36 Austin Western Railroad SD60Ms. Looks like KCT's Kaw Valley Line isn't the only WAMX line getting SD60Ms 5:10 NS high hood geep putting out some exhaust 7:46 the tail ends of two trains with FREDs blinking 8:38 two very dirty UP SD70ACes and a nice and clean CEFX SW1500 as well as quite a few N&W covered hoppers 11:27 gate bonks a BMW 12:20 CEFX GP20D trailing. I keep confusing those for gensets when they're not. 13:48 blue car almost slams into the silver Hyundai 15:00 private car Blue Ridge Club on the Southwest Chief 15:22 idiot driver ends up off the crossing surface 18:50 BNSF, NS, and CSX power on one train 23:38 CP 8757 trailing 25:40 another weird blue load that doesn't look super heavy, but needs a heavy-duty flatcar 26:22 CSX 911 leading, plus some lovely action of the old B&O signals. I thought those would be gone when PTC was implemented here 28:00 two Rock Island hoppers
In my town they do practice runs to towns and to the prisons too. People are sick too again with all...doing more pickup or a accident. One morning it was so busy fast and loud....I couldn't tell if was a bad accident or doing town by town practicing. At the penitentiary I think the police helicopter comes from a bigger city and hovers over it. Thanks
A Great Grab Bag. Can't understand why car drivers have no responsibility when coming upon Railroad crossing gates. The gates are their for drivers safety and train tracks belongs to trains, not for hasty car drivers to go thru, and interfere with train passage.
Look, my eyes aren''t very good anymore so I don't drive at night. Forget driving around the arm, that guy had a 'wall' in front of him. And, he ran in to it. How can you miss a train car, even at night? Oh, well, actually he didn't. Probably a little early New Year's celebrating.
Fortunately, the city of Hamilton Ohio has chosen to move and restore the train station there. It is significant because Lincoln once gave a speech there. It would have been nice to restore the one at Deshler because it served two directions of trains. But I guess we can't save them all.
Not shown ... Amtrak 30 was lined up to use the track blocked in Elkhart. They had to back up two miles, cross over to track 2 and passed by before the stack train. How someone goes around a gate when there is a stopped train blocking the entire crossing? No explanation I know.
At 25:43 we appear to have a backup roll for a rolling mill. People on the VR HSC feed were calling it a motor or generator armature, but there does not appear to be a coupling on either end of that piece. And is it "B&Oing" for the CPL at 27:12?
Forty-plus years of engineering experience around motors, generators, and rolling mills does give me some insight into what their components look like.
Happy New Year VRF ...keep up your great work. How bout we start the new year w/an entire train at the forgotten HORSE SHOE CURVE. Maybe the camera is broke,IDK but its been a loooooooooooooooong time. Please for my grandson...we visited the HSC last summer & we enjoyed it very much. 😀😀😁
Unfortunately the lighting in Ashland made that guy look like a Simpson's character. Hey Fred. Oh hey Fred what ya doing? Same as you Fred, just hanging out blinking my red light on the end of this train. What kind of engine was the blue switcher in Elkhart?
The people that go through the crossing guard and cause damage and slowing down the trains is not gonna stop people who are in a hurry to get absolutely nowhere and risk the lives everyone and instead of referring to them as Darwin Candidates they need to referred to as Fatality Candidates I know that sounds morbid but it's the truth or at least that's what I heard a neighbor say once.
Ok I remember that train at 0:23 pass by my home here in argentine yard and couldn't figure out what that train was hauling then? Still would like to know.
@@T_Hoog Thanks, you seem very knowledgeable! Wish I knew more but I’m sure an amateur train watcher that I didn’t understand anything you said! Ha ha!
Is it my imagination about so many engines being moved around? Are they transferring them to other stations for distribution? I noticed this somewhat in Tuscson.
@@joepeach997 Oh, so it actually has nothing to do with something on the screen? I thought it was something like the CN Pacman. LOL. Thanks for clarifying.
