It's a beautiful part of the world to live! I grew up in a tiny village called Whittingham. You would have seen the top of the church steeple over to the east from thrunton crags. If you think it's steep by McCartney's then, try doing it in 3 foot of snow! Haha it's good to see other people enjoying my "back garden" 😉 and I hope it draws others to the area. Thank you for being respectful and keeping it tidy! Take care mate!
Sorry Mark, I deleted your latest comment about a net (Annette) in the Berlingo then realised afterwards, the humour behind it. I'm really slow today lol..
Fantastic video. I'm catching up on your back back catalogue. What beautiful wild county up there in Northumberland, so suited to wild camping and you really capture the beauty of the Cheviots. A most enjoyable video. Quality production. Great!
The four crags walk is my favourite thing to do. Just a shame the yomp has me breathing out my arsehole every time😂😂😂😂 You’ve shown me bits of Thrunton I’ve never seen after walking it a bunch. Camping there is an amazing idea. Amazing work.
That was a super video. You always seem to make em interesting. Loved the way you've captured the skies and Wow! The time lapse. Looking forward to your next one. Atb. Sue
Thanks for your kind words, I was lucky that weekend with the weather, its was changing from sun/showers to better weather and the cloud patterns were very diverse and interesting, ideal for timelapse.
Cheers John, pleased you enjoyed it, Thrunton Wood is a nice place to visit but better in the autumn once the flies die back they were everywhere, not just midges but shit flies, blue bottles and all sorts lol
This is very good Sir, and funny too. Having watched a few of your videos now ..... at your college of knowledge ..... I am becoming slowly schooled, and thus am now almost 100% aware that "Ya knoo it meks sense .... like". Kind regards.
Was happy to see that you had a new video matey, and what a cracking one it is too. Absolutely beautiful location you had there, a dream come true! Well made and pleasure to watch! ATB and be safe! :-)
Cracking video Damian👍 I went up the other day and came across the exact same spot and the views where fantastic.Your a inspiration and I'll be definitely getting out and about in future.Keep up the good work👍
I have never tried wild camping, but your videos have inspired me, I have bought all my kit. And ready to go. I live in Kent, so I will find some woods, but I can't wait to come up and explore your area. Thank you for the videos
Lance Balzaretti I would try somewhere close to home and during the summer, less chance for something going wrong and make sure you tell someone where you've gone and when your likely to be coming home, stay safe, Damian
I REALLY enjoyed this video. For some reason, it's been my favorite thus far, and I've probably watched most of you walks/wild camps 2 or 3 times now. I'm very much looking forward to my first wild camp this coming fall. With temps here in south Louisiana at 100F right now, and heat indexes around 115F, it's just not probable to wild camp during the summer. Although, while scouting a few places last week, I did see 2 separate wild camp set ups in one of my local wildlife refuges. So this fall, on my first wild camp, I'll be sure to bring some mash along in honor of you! :)
After watching your vids I've wanted see this elusive cave and today after the 4th attempt I found it!!! 😀. Got to it via castle hill this time. Wowsers what a climb back up! 😰
brilliant that you got allot of footage of what you got up to during the night, your mash & meatballs looked yummy Damian, enjoying going through your vids m8, Atb,Derek
Ive watched many many camping and bushcrafting videos but I must say this was so enjoyable !! Beautiful scenery and your sincere dialogue left me longing to get out n a trip myself. Thank you so much for posting this video. Greetings from S.W. USA
Great video - Thrunton Woods is a very interesting place to hike - generally not many people up there - I've taken a few breaks right where you had your bivy.
Superb video once again! Wedderburns and Mcartneys are reached easier from the paths below. Castle Hill is a nice spot in the woods for a wild camp if the midges arn't too bad. Thanks for the upload!
Great video. I've sat up on that crag many-a-time in the past. I was once watching nesting Peregrines when a Osprey flew over! Best birding expeience I've had in England. I remember seeing Roe deer everywhere, I also remember the flies! I think the 'Blob' was grouse droppings? I will have to get back up there sometime. Cheers, Steve.
C Veg Thanks for the info, up in the crags is a lot better for the midges and stunning views too, I think the bird I saw was a peregrine also but I'm not very good at identifying birds of prey, thanks for your comment
Really enjoy your videos and your grand scenery. Camping out is always a fun experience and I hope to do some more yet. I was a youngster in the land of the Sasquatch many years ago but never met one; have been accused of being one a couple times...lol.. good luck looking for Yeti; who knows!
Mr D just been to Thrunton Woods.....and wow what a little gem.....loved the walked along Callaley Crags hidden in the wood.....sadly did not make it to the caves.....walked past them nor did we make it up coe crags save that for the next time....ps that castle in the woods looks interesting castle hill ruins on it.....intrigued!
+The CheviotWildCamper Castle Hill in Callaly used to have an iron age castle on it from what I've read. The views from Thrunton Crag and Callaly Crag are nice, especially over towards the Cheviot Hills, I could sit there for hours enjoying the view. ATB, Damian
Best viewing spot ive been to for a while on that rock.......something about the rock merging into forrest great description into the abyss as you cant see bottom....maybe some ruins on that hill looked like a spooky location to me lol
Brilliant video of your camp at Thrunton , enjoyed the trip and I think those strange Thrunton vibes were messing in the night. I was very unsettled last time I camped there. It's just that kind of place with a eerie atmosphere. great footage very well put together. Thanks for sharing. Mick.
Thank You Mick, Thrunton is a special place and I enjoyed the video you made from there too, out of curiosity did you hear any unusual noises or wood knocks by any chance?.. it might seem like a silly question and I don't want to say too much on here but people are hearing noises in the woods up there, Atb, Damian.
Fell Wanderer Yeah when I was pitching my tent the first time I heard a noise like someone passing close by, (I was well away from the paths and well hidden) I went to investigate and saw nothing , but when I returned to my tent some tent pegs were gone. I unpitched and moved to another spot away from there. spooked lol.
blamhof I've chatted to people who have had similar experiences in and around the Thrunton area, strange noises at night, sticks and pine cones been thrown at the tent in the middle of the night, makes you wonder just whats going on
Another excellent video... you really do know how to do it right. Not many people on RU-vid could keep my attention for 45 minutes. I think you have found your calling.
Great Vid really enjoying your stuff... please keep em coming. I have watched others but think yours are the best.. I am aiming to do similar, but need to sort out my equipment.. Just I Phone vids to go on currently.. If your after the yeti come and try the Peak district.. Goyt valley forest, did a solo one nighter and was awakened by something strange.. Needed a new sleeping bag after that ;) All the best and thanks.
Steven been watching u since u started camping, an u have improved and then improved, did watch think the first whom calls himself no 1, camper, n likes a drink,, funny but think u poss number 1 now, as long as you enjoy urself an safety! but all know whom the real boss is! , ur wife, !!! for letting you go!!!, impressive fell wanderer, from Steven ,by k,jerr !!! thanks
Wow what a fantastic vid m8 great editing , I love northumberland so proud to be a Northumbrian , your vids are getting better and better keep them coming m8 atb Gordon
@@jasonmaddison6148 In theory they can ask you to leave if your camping but I don't think they have the power of arrest and would have to call the police. Wild camping is technically illegal anywhere without the land owners permission but its often tollerated in places such as national parks so long as you aren't causing a nuasance
Wow!what a fantastic video mate, a great watch.thanks.Shame about the people who spoil such nice locations but good on you for taking it away with you.Looking forward to your next vid and hope oneday mine can be of the same quality as yours (hopefully). Thanks and take care Q
great video and i will try to watch as many as your videos as i get time for,, and its great that you are always in a different place. some outdoor you tubers are worried about showing where they are doing there stealth camps so much that they just seem to be in the same boring places and they never or rarely show the awesome views of the countryside.
James edwards Thanks for your comment James, I try to be careful by not reavealing the exact locations of some places as there are too many idiots who will leave a mess and spoil it for the rest of us, there is a danger by popularising wild camping too much it will attract the wrong kind of people who don't care about the countryside and are only interested in a one night piss up in the woods.and aren't bothered because they know they wont be going back again in a hurry.
I'm sure your lass is a stunner based on that silhouette :) Beautifully shot video as always and thoroughly enjoyed watching the whole thing. Thanks as always for sharing bro ~Peace~
Wonderful scenery, history, weird sh1t, slug porn, cuisine ( don't forget folks: with a fly every one gets a leg ), good music and a nice relaxed commentary. This trip had everything. Keep on keeping on.
Great video Damian, you picked a good spot to camp. I think the cave would have been far to small to spend the night. The views looked great from your Bivi spot and like you said "a great place to wake up to" Atb Glenn.
Glenn Montgomery The cave is also a tourist spot so would have just woken up with someone peeking in as well as being too small, thanks for watching, Atb, Damian.
Another great video wedderburns hole is hard to find now as that tracks not that well used now it's another great location for watching the stars as there's very little light pollution I am itching to try a bivi something I am going to have a go you have to watch out at thrunton for adders it's a great place for them
A bivy under the stars is a great experience, autumn is best for the lack of midges and star gazing as the nights are darker but its also starting to get colder, I would have loved to find Wedderburn's hole but for safety reasons it wasn't to be ;-( thanks for watching..
