Thule AeroBlade & ProRide Install // BMW E90

Today on JD Cars we install the Thule AeroBlade and Thule ProRide on my BMW E90. I do not have the folding seat option on my car and don't want to take the wheels off the bike to put it in my trunk. Your aero bars are back to front the fat edge is the leading edge like a planes wing. These are already quite so shouldn't need a deflector

It’s understandable, my friend accidentally installed and backward on his Hyundai Veloster. Think of the aeroblades as airplane wings. You want the wind to come off of them on the slimmest part to prevent drag and wind noise.

Only noticed now after reading this comment. I was paying attention more on the mounting kit and their orientation as I know the bar position already...😊 It is indeed backwards.

Agreed! Thule is the best and the only brand of rack I'll run on my E91 and have run on my past E36s. You definitely get what you pay for!

Does this bike rack support heavier/older bicycles? I have an old Schwinn bike i'd love to take places with my car but it's so heavy and I'm not sure if it'd support the weight of it on the roof rack. Great video!

JD Cars you should man there is a brand called inno or get the thule one. Been reading it and it really looks good with fairing.

Yes - simply cut to size.

Did you remove the rubber strip in order to use the t-slot on the bar? Are you supposed to cut the strip where you want to place the bike rack and re-insert both ends of the strip around the t-track plate?

Yes, the latter. You'll need to cut the strips to length on either side of your bike rack

Thanks for the review -- what would actually help more is if you included how to dismount. For example, you come home from a trip and want to "park" the whole rack base + bike racks until next trip, keeping the car's roof completely bare. How do you do that without spending an hour dismantling the whole thing? BMW OEM roof rack base can be dismounted with single screw per mounting point (total 4); it would appear Thule would require significantly more effort.

If you want to pull the entire thing off at once you can remove the 4 mounting studs.

Thank you for responding -- can you be more clear? is it a one-bolt-per-stud activity, or more? Based on installation process, it would appear it may take 3 bolts per stud. 2 bolts that connect base/kit to rack stud; then another that connects base to the car. This is a purchase-blocker for me, then again I'm not seeing cars with Thule bases mounted on driving around :) so hopefully I'm missing something and this is easier than I understand.

You should get a fairings for the rack, it looks good with it and quiet downs the car quite a bit

Dude I don't understand. This thule setup for my car is 800$ Canadian, the BMW dealer is 300$ for factory. I don't see the reason to NOT go for dealer in situation lol
