I have the same basket on my forester. I had in my crosstrek before so its about 6 years old. I had issues with water getting inside and leaking out with rust residue on the roof. I took the rack apart, dried it up and sealed it with black silicone. Hopefully this resolves this issue. I just got a forester wilderness and am waiting on a sale on the thule crossbars to mount it on my current setup. Hope this helps someone with this same issue. We also have this same rack on my wifes forester and just recently noticed that rusty water issue is starting to show up on that one as well. Her car is white and i probably just noticed it sooner. Hers is about 3 years old i believe. So ill be taking that one off soon and sealing it up too. I cab say with probably over 200k miles and 6+ years this rack has held up well. Great powder coating. No rust anywhere on the rack its self. The only issue is the water weeping out the bolt holes and the screws getting a little rusty. The thule logo is almost gone in the side plates and the fairing logo is long gone at this point but like I said this is well over 200k miles and 6+ years of weather.
Hello. Glad to hear of the long-term positive feedback on the Canyon XT basket. For those in continuously wet climates such as the pacific-northwest, moisture from humidity may build up inside the tubing and not have a chance to evaporate and dry out. For those in these climates who park in a garage or remove the rack and store in a dry location when not in use will likely never experience this issue. Thanks!
Hello. If you have interest in the additional accessories offered by Yakima for the LoadWarrior then it would be the best choice as the Canyon XT has no accessories other than an extension and stretch net. Thanks
