Did you happen to make a video? I need to fix a box myself but I'm not sure how to go about doing it or the materials that I need, any chance you could briefly go over it😉

I thought the same of his video he didn't even go over the repair part of the video which going by what you've stated would have been useless anyway

Ok guys, stop piling on Garth. I will give u steps to paint a cargo box with spray cans. 2 things first: 1. If you box needs repair, search RU-vid for "MammothMend", where its done right. 2. Best to use pro spray paint compressor for most smooth finish. My notes will cover canned spry paint. Don't cheat on cleaning first or the sanding. You'll ruin the project if either is not done. Steps for spray painting molded plastic cargo box: 1) hose down box with a good pressure hose & let dry in low humidity for a few days. Patience is the key. Let it dry naturally. 2. In a well ventilated area, where there is no flame or smoking, use paint thinner and a clean, lint free garage rag to clean all surfaces. Use gloves and goggles! 3. Using Rusto Fusion 2x primer, covers plastic, and spray the box using good spray painting technique. Apply 3 coats. 1st coat is just a light one pass coat. Allow to dry 1 hr. Then apply 2nd coat heavier by going slower while sweeping the can. Again allow to dry 1 hour. Do same on 3rd coat. It will take about a week to 10 days to set to a good base. Do what you need to avoid moisture while Fusion 2x primer sets. AGAIN, patience guys! 4. Using Rusto spray can Fusion 2x Clear Coat, paint over all primed areas. 1 or 2 coats will be fine. Again allow to set for 7 days. I know, but before you complain about clear over primer... 5. Using 1000 grit sandpaper (yes 1000, nothing coarser!), sand all of clear seal. Yes, it looks nasty, that citrus fruit skin thing...breathe! 6. Using tack cloth, NOT a rag, wipe the cargo box to clean up all remnants from sanding. 7. Ok...so far so good. Remember, PATIENCE! 8. Using Rusto Fusion 2x paint, in your choice of color, follow same directions as when you applied the Rusto Fusion 2x primer. Allow to dry 1 hr. The first coat will still leave a nasty lumpy surface. Apply 2nd coat heavier by sweeping slowly as you apply colored paint. Allow to dry 24-48 hrs. Dust all surfaces with tack cloth (NO RAGS). APPLY 3RD (FINAL) coat using same slow application as 2nd coat. Allow to dry for 7-10 days. That means garage, tarp, NO carwash, no moisture!!!, After this time apply a compounding paste per manufacturer's directions. DONOT MOUNT ON VEHICLE FOR 10 DAYS! Note that only Rusto Fusion 2x will adhere well. I know its no longer inexpensive!!! Other brands of plastic primer, seal, and paint will lose its appeal over time due to UV, Mother Nature, scratches, & loss of adhesion. Mine is Apple Red🍎
