I got a bum used one even tho I paid for new on Amazon one the tensioners didn’t click the right side tensioner got stuck. Not a good fit on the Jetta trunk. I will be returning it.
Excellent video Sam! I'm thinking of buying it but I would load two MTB, one of them almost 15 kg (max per bike as read in the specs)... Do you think the rack is sturdy enough? Is there room enough for two MTBs? Thanks!
Thanks for the video! I have a bmw as well and I’m pretty worried about the spoiler since is fully made of plastic, aren’t the top hangings making force on it? Specially in case of highway bumps with couple of ( heavier ) bikes at 120km/h I’m afraid it could tear it off :/
@@SamHoChannelthe reinforcement straps are docked to the internal car/door frame but still running around the plastic spoiler. I verified carefully mine and all the edges are plastic then the all spoiler is ( I assume ) glued to the rear door frame. Means there is still weight on the plastic spoiler, but probably ( I am not a physician ) the involved forces are somehow better distributed so to not damage it. I am testing other ( much more cheaper ) bike hangings and noticing the spoiler slightly flexes when loading bikes, maybe i can try dock the upper hangings internally. Thanks for the clarification!
Hi!, I have a question, how about your lights, they are almost fuly blocked? i just bought the Thule outway platform for that reason. just to find out that a Ford Fiesta's taillights are pretty high up so it still gets blocked. Thule say's it's compatibe tho. Don't you get tickets for blocked lights?
One followup question, do you know if placing it higher on the glass is oke or not? Can't find it anywhere and Thule doesn't describe it as a no go, like placing it on the bodywork explicitly is forbidden.
It's just a little strap that goes on the insides of both hinges. They have little plastic blocks on them witch dangle loose when you close the tailgate. You pull them tight so the little plastic blocks lock on the inside plastics or whatever is in your car. Then you connect it to the bike carrier and that's it. Be mindful to loose those straps from te bike carrier before you open the trunk.
