Thundercat Performs "Them Changes" with Jon Batiste & Stay Human Live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert i remastered the audio a little since it was pretty quiet in the original
That’s the way to follow. Sharing art through generations one way or another is gold, is knowledge and culture. I have a dad like you, that’s a blessing 🙏🏻
Lol, for the show? have you seen this man's style overall? Just like Mono Neon he dresses like that, and he is awesome, check out his song " Thundercat - Tokyo" also Mono Neon is worth checking out if you like Bass, Colorful clothes and insane talent.
Skill wise definitely, he's got mad chops, especially cosidering the singing along with it. Only the sound he's using for his bass gives me a huge headache 😅
Jon was burning up the keyboard!!!!! Lots of of intricate funky runs, and his bass synth groove is impeccable. Lots of that Jay Dilla rub groove in this song. The bass, drums, percussion notes all rub up against each other and create a lope feel.
I'm a musician (amateur my whole life) and this is a musicians song. I think that's why you can so easily see the joy in the other musicians faces while they jam with Thundercat. This song is just so good on so many different levels. But yeah the pure joy to jamming out to this song is so clearly visible on everyones' face.
Much respect to Maddie Rice, the guitarist you can barely see on the back of the stage here. Her playing is so good that you don’t hear it; you feel it. Her tone and volume lays in the mix in just the right way to support Thundercat and the rest of the band.
Everything about this is fucking gangster. The chiaotzu outfit, that super underrated tuba and the ridiculous electric piano fills. You can tell the whole band was feeling that vibe. Jesus Christ what a live performance.
idk i feel like this performance speak a lot about how great thundercat is... the way jon batiste & stay human are just straight VIBING with his shit. i think it speaks a lot about your music when other skilled musicians love it.
At 4:04 Jon Batiste immediately turns around to let the drummer know his fill was absolute 🔥. Drummer knows what's up and gives him a head nod like, "yeah, how about that?"
That's got to be one of the nastiest base lines/harmonies I've ever heard. That groove felt like a sun-kissed black hole, warm and gentle with imperceptible depth. That percussion was crispier than twice-fried hasbrowns too. I almost stood up at my desk and started dancing.
1:52-2:01 that shit was so fucking cool when they all pause for just a second then play like perfectly on time i love this man. Live performance 10/10 and it seems like such a hard song to do live so even more props
Him using his normal singing voice makes it sound like he's doing karaoke of his own song That plus the slightly different instrumental really seals the effect.
no lie, this is a band favorite. i've never seen a live band who didn't lose their shit playing this song. it's the perfect skeleton to a master jam session
@@Selectcopyy i mean if you play guitar it's not that hard at all. i was a guitarist that got a 6 string bass tuned like a baritone guitar (B E A D Gb B)
I love the tribute to footsteps in the dark here.. no other backbeat could do justice to the most epic bassline ever composed in modern musical history. Go Thundercat!!
Shout-out Tuba guy he plays so well that he just fits right in, you almost don't notice him because he is that smooth and blending in with the 2 bass's
Nobody move, there's blood on the floor And I can't find my heart Where did it go? Did I leave it in the cold? So please give it back, 'cause it's not yours to take It must've fell when I lost my mind Deep in the cut, drowning in a pain Somebody help, 'cause I can't find my way Nobody move, nobody move Somebody tell me how I'm supposed to feel When I'm sitting here knowing this ain't real Why in the world would I give my heart to you? Just to watch you throw it in the trash I've been traveling so long, I don't think I can hold on Where were you when I needed you the most? Now I'm sitting here with a black hole in my chest A heartless, broken mess (Best solo ever) Nobody move, there's blood on the floor And I can't find my heart Where did it go? Did I leave it in the cold? So please give it back, 'cause it's not yours to take It must've fell when I lost my mind Deep in the cut, drowning in a pain Somebody help, 'cause I can't find my way Nobody move, nobody move
this performance is so electric! I LOVE seeing musicians just having the best time when they play together, look at all those smiles and bops. a fine group of musicians having an amazing time making beautiful magic together.
What a haunting groove that song has! Amazing performance! Incredible musicians! That man can dress however the F he wants given the way he has managed to position himself in mainstream media through the power of his talent and years of dedication. So hard to pull that off in a Pop world! Congrats Thundercat!
Yeah, I was waiting for his solo to blow everyone away His volume was also low considering that his crazy fills practically went unnoticed They ain’t let him go super saiyan
