Thunderhawk. Filmed off ride by Andrew (Anton) Marshall at Dorney Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania during the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain USA Tour 1993.
The Coaster was awesome with the old station. It had so much air. It's a shame Cedar Fair ruined it by moving the station back and installing so many trim brakes. Thanks for the memories!
Is that why it looks so different?? I see it used to have a tunnel as it went down and it seems to come right out of the station and around the corner instead of going straight first then turning. It makes sense now. I hate the trim on the second air time hill and the worst is how it slams on the brake run after cresting the last hill. Why would they move the station back and totally flaw the design like that?
When the ride was converted to pinch brakes (as were many other old woodies, not just ones at Cedar Fair), that made it so the ride couldn't have brakes on a curve. Therefore, they had to move the station onto straight track.
I rode this coaster when I was still with my late husband [who died in 2016] It was one of the few coasters I could handle. Dorney was less than two hours from where I lived in York.
