I've been wearing those exact shoes for two weeks to school (HS sophomore) and let me tell you, they're great no matter what you're doing whether it be sprinting to school because you're late or sitting in class all day, or even going and doing just about whatever. They're extremely comfortable. I'm very happy with these boots and I will definitely be a customer for life.
Nice man! I can’t say I ever run to class in them but I often run from my car to my job (I’m always late) so I’d say that’s about the same, lol. Great to hear you like them!
I bought a pair of President in Natural in 16; 4 resoles later and now in 2023 the toe-bend is cracking and tearing and need to retire them. I'm going to buy another pair in a different color. Fantastic boots for their price.
The only boots that I ever owned for 20+ years were work boots and they were the only footwear that I ever paid over $70 dollars for but decided that I wanted something that really looked nice. I saw ads for Thursdays and watched a resole video and decided to try them out. I got a pair of captains in brandy and am well pleased. They didn't offer a wide option in that style/color so I took a chance and went with my sneaker size. They were tight in the toe box but with a couple short outings and shoe trees in between said outings they relaxed a bit and they suddenly fit like a good glove. They require a bit more care than throw away shoes but the results are worth the time and minimal effort. They are well worth the price and I ended up buying another pair, wingtip for dress wear, and am equally pleased in the short time that I have owned them.
I know exactly where you’re coming from. For years I had boots supplied by my police department and while off duty swore I’d never wear boots to anything. But once I got out and found TBC I’m in love with these boots.
I think the boot is a beautifully hand crafted piece of absolute art, they feel so comfortable that it's the one and only go to boot, one that is captivating to the eye and fits to perfection,I would and will buy another pair in the future after I've worn these Captain boots I've purchased with a great feeling of knowing they took their time making them just to fit me perfectly straight out of the box with minimal break in time. The first few steps are like WOW!!!! and then you smile at the craftsmanship that you now own.
I was actually just in the middle of asking you about the half size smaller thing when you started talking about this. I wear an 11 sneaker always (with a good thumbs worth of empty room at the toe) so I ordered a 10.5. However I buy my sneakers and summer canvas shoes (canvas crocs & Skechers) with a good thumbs worth of empty room to spare. I hope the 10.5s fit good. I’ve been hedging on these $200 boots for a year or two and finally did it today. I figure a $200 pair lasting 3-4 years is the same as buying a $60 pair every year 🤷🏽♂️. Thanks for the review man. Good stuff.
Good talk, I do HVAC work, and walk for exercise. Wedge sole boots work well on wet slick surfaces. Thursday makes a wedge sole. You convinced me. I am a minimalist, great topic. Yes! we have been brainwashed to purchase nonsense.
For the weather in your area, check out the various Thursday Boots with their StormKing soles. They are much better for wet surfaces and slick surfaces.
Really enjoyed the review! I actually have three pairs of boots from them: tabaco presidents, matte black captains and tabaco comanders. I found that the comanders work better on ice/snow than the presidents or captains due to the Vibram sole on them. The only issues I've had with any of them is the leather in between the rubber soles and the upper starts to get more worn because of the salt and snow. I fixed this by spraying them with waterproof spray and that helps greatly.
I purchased Thursday Captain Boots two months ago and have been exceptionally pleased with them. I first conditioned them with Black Rock leather treatment and Tarrago Shoe Cream in Brandy. They hold up well so far and are comfortable. I live in central New England..
Great review. Super cool you got a comment from TBC too. I have some Captain's and had to order my sneaker size too. I actually had to go up half a size for the Black Matte leather though. I'll have to check out some of your other content.
Nice review! Same situation with me, I'm a 10.5. Bought the 10 and way too tight. Replaced with 10.5 and perfect. Bought the wing tip style and get compliments all the time. Good company I think.
I just got into TBC boots. My first pair was a Captain in Classic Black. They were so comfy that I decided to get a pair of Arizona Adobe. The AA is so much more comfy than the classic blacks. The forefoot feels like it’s more padded than the Classics. I love their boots. I will eventually get all their boots with a toe cap.
That’s so interesting that one pair feels more comfortable than the other. But I’ve definitely experienced that before. TBC makes such excellent boots! Thanks for reaching out!
@@ModestlyMinimalso I have found out a few things. 1) the R&R line of boots have a cork & leather sole whereas the Classic styles have cork & poron. 2) the R&R lines have a more rounded toe box last than compared to the classics or smooth leather toe box. The rounded toe last started June 2022. 3) the wider sizes are built on the similar last with the toe being more almond shaped. 4) the Loggers, Vanguards, Cadets, and Majors all were built on the same lasts being more almond shaped compared to the R&R lines which are rounded. I also bought the cacao Loggers and they are super nice. The ball of my foot are a bit snug but I’m confident they will break in after a few wears but they’re currently sitting under the tree right now. I was able to try them on before my wife wrapped them because the first pair I got had some minor qc issues so I had to exchange them. The replacement pair are perfect in every way. I love Thursdays but I would like to get a pair of the Truman Java waxed flesh but I have to save up for them because it’s super expensive and because I work from home full-time I can’t justify buying a pair of $400+ air of boots.
I just ordered a pair of Thursday Captain black boots earlier this week. Looking forward to receiving them. I have wide feet, so I am hoping that they work out. Thank you for your video - I enjoyed it very much.
I got my normal size and they fill to big. So are you saying they got smaller size wise after brake in? I don't know if i should waste the time and money going down a size id that is correct.
Just ordered these last night, largely on your recommendation. I was also tossing up between mocha and tobacco, but I just recently received a pair of the Cadets in tobacco, and they feel decidedly more formal, so hopefully these ones become my day-to-day errands + everything else pair! Bit concerned about the traction - a lot of reviews say the grip is quite good in wet conditions, and as these are replacing two rather slippery pairs of Clark's I have, I'm hoping I don't have to fear for my life walking down stairs in the rain.
They are pretty slick, unfortunately, in the beginning. But once they wear in the slickness goes away, in my opinion. I have no issues with grip in the snow/rain. Let me know how they work for you!
Thanks for the honest review. I do wish that they offered their waxed cacao leather in the captains or presidents even if for a slightly higher cost. That quick awesome roughout patina looks so cool.
I like mine . They are ok . I was really disappointed in how fast the heels wore down . After about 4 months, I had to replace the heel pads . A extra cost I had to pay .
Great review man! I know you should size down from your normal sneaker size when purchasing but if you’re gonna wear thick socks should I maybe go half a size up which would be my sneaker size? Or go half a size down from sneaker size?
So with mine I wore the thickest socks I could find at REI for awhile. Currently I wear normal Bylt socks with them. They do free exchanges also. But I would say first off click the find my size and see what they recommend. Secondly I would say yea stick with your sneaker size if you plan to wear thick socks with them.
I have 2 pairs of the Captain’s. I typically wear an 11.5 in sneakers but went down to an 11 and they fit me perfectly. I wear them with thicker wool socks in the winter and they still fit comfortably. I wouldn’t size up. Stay at your sneaker size or size half a size down.
i was kinda lookin for the two ferns at first. I had to watch the vid two to three times to get me focused on the review and by "giving up" and just "accepting" that Zach G. was doing the review....great review it turned out. Thanks!
I want to order a pair brown captains, but I'm afraid of the sizing. I wear size 9 in Irish setter work boots and size 9 in sneakers. Do you think it would be wise to stick to my normal size? Thank you for the review
If you go to their website and click the sizing guide right above where you choose the size you want there will be a short quiz and I find it gives you the best recommendation for what size to order.
Nice square review. Thanks. Haven't bought yet because sizing an online boot makes me pause, especially since I wear a Wide. But they say they have Wide sizes and this review this helps. Do you know anyone who has the Wide version? Cheers.
When you say u don't see a difference in a 199.00 boot to more expensive , it helps everyone for you to call out the boots that you are talking about when mentioning more than 200 compared , other than that people can't take that comment serious .
So tell us what other boots you have that cost more than 200 ? Allen edmonds patton , higgings mill , boots are better in every way , and that's next on my list. My vanguard is nice
@@ModestlyMinimal thanks for your reply ,good to know..I feel it's about quality built and comfort on feet..I tried on the captain and higgins mill and the mill was better felt when just trying on .down the line the captain will be next after I buy the mill when next sale comes.
Ive heard so many negative reviews with these boots on sizing issues not only between pairs of boots but between L &R boots of ordered pair!....quality control has been abandoned...i.e...hecho in mexico!....best to pay for an american made boot!...i.e...you get what you pay for!
I need to get my recommendations to stop sending me Thursday Boot videos. Everybody and their brother seems to review these, mainly because of the price point. I guess if you want to look like all of the other hipsters who want boots but don’t want to pay $425-$700 the other hipsters are paying for Truman’s or PAC NW boots (that hardly get worn) then go for it. This boot thing will go away soon along with beards and tattoos and the current trendy short on the sides, long on top haircuts.
Well I’m glad that’s what you want. But I think some opinions are better off kept to yourself. I love my Thursday Boots and quite frankly I think it’s absolutely stupid to pay $500 for a name brand.
@@louiscyfer6944 I never claimed he said that he wanted to spend that much. I just agreed I think it’s stupid. Listen man if you don’t like my content you don’t have interact with it at all.
