Make America Hate Again and Death Squad anthem are easily the weakest tracks on the album. I skip them entirely. the rest of the album is straight fire far as I'm concerned.
@@AggressiveTendencies I'm getting old, my back is 60 and I'm 41, and it's good to know that the genuine enthusiasm for extreme metal is still alive and kicking.
Nice review. You make a great point when it comes to the chugging and chord progression compared to the more riff centric songs but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing because it adds some diversity of sound to the overall feel of the album. I think sometimes people frown on power chords and chugs because of their lack of technicality but we have to remember that it's not always about being impressed, sometimes it's just about throwin down and feelin the bounce.
Brad could "hate" on my favorite album, "My Little Pony Goes To Hawaii," all day long if he brought this kind of nuance to it. Excellent reviewer with an impressive beard.
The first half of this album felt like listening to the same song over and over again, I was doing something else and actually forgot what I was listening to. I still feel like The Adversary was their peak
@@AggressiveTendencies Damn right they do! Wormwood is still #2 of my top 5 deathcore albums. Only album that tops it in my books is No Time To Bleed by SS.
@@AggressiveTendencies Unrelated, but I have to ask - have you heard the new song from The Great Old Ones, and if you have, would you care to share your thoughts on it?
@@ragnarokgamer6817 man the ending was heavy as hell. But I'm a big fan of black metal so this new blackened deathcore is pretty rad to me. But I'm just as excited for FFAA music video for mirrors gave me chills
Totally agree with your take on Thy Art! Some good parts but not as cohesive as earlier work. Also props to the Sanction shoutout! Just saw them live last night and they were sick!
I listened to the whole album at the gym the other day and I didn't replay it. I didn't care to hear it again. Haven't gone back to it. That's a bad sign, as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I'm missing something.
Hatriot released their new album this week as well with Cody Souza taking over vocals from his dad and sounding like Exodus next gen. Very cool album worth checking out if you love your thrash metal.
Great to have back, Brad!! Tour seemed crazy!! \m/ Awesome band!! Together with Whitechapel, Thy Art Is Murder is what every deathcore band aspires to sound like in 2019.
The last half of the album is killer. Songs 5-10 are rad with some brutal breakdowns. Can't believe I'm one of the few who think that. Subjectiveness I guess but was extremely happy with the later half.
My boy Brad back at with the killer reviews. I personally really like the album, but I hear your gripes and definitely understand where you're coming from. It may even give me a little perspective next time I listen. Anyway, keep up the good work, my man. Spot on description of Barnes, btw. 😂
@@AggressiveTendencies Well I gotta be honest, after a few more listens I found it to be kind of stale and lackluster, so I definitely see where you're coming from now lol. Thy art is still a great band though and I'll continue to appreciate what they do.
this sound isn't really my scene, but the drums on the sample you picked were fucking BANANAS. those toms, and then it goes into this like, collapsing blastbeat over those gross syncopated like anti-chords. I respect that.
Awesome review, I give it 3 and half skulls. Are you going to review Carnifex new album world war x when it drops? I sure hope you do it's one the most anticipated albums this year.
@@AggressiveTendencies cool will be looking forward to it. So far possessed new album Revelations of oblivion and Whitechapel's The Valley are my favorite albums this year so far.
Good point. Yes, it will be a harbinger of things to come, much like the latest Code Orange. The albums themselves won't hold up but will have important places in their respective discographies, nonetheless.
I loved the new thy art album 5/5 amazing vocals, drumming, riffs and breakdowns I think all there best songs are after the 4 singles which has been a change from there last albums, and personally I found a satisfying and interesting variation between the songs but to each and there own !
i dont know why, it might be because i listened to their last album more, i liked the last one more. it would be nice if they could bring even more variance into their style and use more instrumentals because there are cool parts in the songs i would like to hear better
I pretty much agree on all points. I loved Eternal Suffering and Death Perception shouldve definitely made the album. The chugs got way too repetitive.
Lyrics?! hahaha dude Death squad anthem literally talks about flase flags and staged terrorist attacks planned by the same government by using militar forces desguised, all for political repression of the population. Come on, they were just inches away to mention the New World Order, how is that a stepdown? Is reality.
Mauricio Nieto that’s only one song though, I feel as a whole the lyricism has decayed just a little bit. I mean we went from literal hell taking over to complaining that people are on their phones 🤷♂️
Btw mate the The Infinite Death EP was a different singer. Part of the reason the band got rid of him was because he was an actual misogynist. The EP itself though is some of the best metal I have ever heard.
I would give it 4 stars ( maybe 4,5 stars) I really like it - with Whitechapel they are the only two deathcore bands I listen to - I get it that it is deathcore and lot of people dont like it but they are catchy and brutal - it is very good music when you want to stop thinking about you - The song Human target was something that stayed in my mind forever and now the New Gods trying to do the same - I really enjoy it and really love the art and idea - I hope you guys at least give it a try even if it is not your cup of tea
Look I am a huge fan of Dear Desolation and Hate, those are the best they made imo, but this one just didnt do it for me :/ I was really excited too. Im happy for everyone that does like it though \m/
I enjoy most of Thy Arts material for what it is. It has always bothered me that CJ stays pretty monotone in his growls. Each album has it's own gem but I agree, deathcore is in a great place and I'm just not on board with this album.
I liked the first half of the album, but it starts to fade for me quickly once Welcome Oblivion is done. Also please, put Bradley's hands in restraints for his reviews, if I didn't know better I'd think he was Québécois. (who knows, maybe he is?)
Best album they’ve ever made by far every track on it is an insane banger🤘🏻 my personal opinion Make America Hate again is the only song I really didn’t like but songs like Human Target,Death Squad Anthem,New God’s,Voyeurs into Death and Welcome Oblivion some of the best songs👍🏻
I only recently started getting into extreme metal. I hated Deathcore for ages until recently from getting into Black Metal and Death Metal. I love Behemoth and i definitely hear the influence and Thy Art is up there with Whitechapel for me.
Aggressive Tendencies Definitely didn’t expect anyone to reply to my random opinion let alone the actual channel. Pretty tight. Thank you for reaching out. 🙏🏻🤘🏼
I wonder if the subject matter of these songs were a conscious decision made by the band as a whole or just something the lyricist holds close to its heart. As far as the music is concern it did feel a bit tiring during a workout (personal opinion). Overall, this album is no too different from Dear Desolation. I agree with this verdict.
This perfectly sums up my issues with Thy Art is Murder and why I never got into them, after their first album they try a lot of things to mix up their sound but don't fully commit to the changes.
Honestly the first half of the album (apart from New Gods) bored me a bit, while the last half kept me interested. Weird because the first half on DD I loved, while the rest I did not care for.
Holy War was really disappointing for me after the vocal diversity of Hate, and Dear Desolation wasn't exceptionally much better, but this was. Hate is still my favorite release, but this is definitely a second.
If you want Deatchore listen to the Sanction album Brad recommend it's just what you expect of a more Old School Deathcore band, and it's only 23 minutes so you can listen to it while making Dinner. And Brad you subestimate my dislike of Hardcorw saying that it's impossible to not like All out War (I didn't like it) And good review for a fairly disappointing album.
This makes me sad in a way bc I listened to their last album well over 50 times, it was heavy but well made. What would y’all say is the closest sibling to TAIM in terms of brutality?
