Hello! I am new here. I was hoping to find some programming examples using step7 simatic manager written with charts and function block diagrams. Do you have anything like this. Also TIA portal is so much easier and more powerful in my opinion.

New sub here! GREAT explanations! I learned with both at University but I never did understand why we used both or either. I was adding it to my CV and needed to categorise applications and realised I did not know the differences technically but I knew it intuitively.

Since you are at this topic with different programs and versions right now: Could you make a video about the siemens version jungle and all the different simatic/ simotion/ sinamics programs from siemens? like whats the differenc between step 7 5.7 und step 7 professional 2021, step 7 v17 basic vs. professional, wincc Basic/Comfort/Advanced/Professional, safety basic/ advanced, sinamics startdrive basic vs. advanced vs old simotion scout (like, can i program simotion controllers with sinamics startdrive in tia?), sinamics dcc, simotion scout standalone vs. tia etc. pp. I have been working with siemens for years now, yet I still dont understand what this is all about. My current strategy is to download the basic stuff like step 7, wincc and startdrive and when some project wont open on my PC I ask a collegue what I should install. But thats not a very satisfying solution to me

Hi guys. My contractor started my project in tia portal with 700 ios. now we have to expand the project to 2000 ios. The contractor tells me that they have to rewrite program in PCS7 from scratch coz tia portal has 2000 ios limitation... sounds strange

When is TIA going to stop crashing on me?

Some of the basic stortcuts in simatic manager are either implemented differently (go to next/previous address usage) or non-existent (function network list) that could be simply implemented. Plus the cross reference is no where near as good in TIA. This is my own experience between v5.6 vs v15.1. Siemens needs to have development people who like to bring the strength of simatic manager to TIA.

So even tho you can, it isn't really a good thing to upgrade an old machine let's say s314 plc to Tia portal if all it does is execute a somewhat simple machine by itself.

I like this channel. It's interesting. I learnt something new.. performant. Sometimes I feel the English Language is still in Industry 3.0...I hope the Brexit is permanent.😁. SIMATIC Manager you have to leave your building and cross the street to get some tasks done.

I would say the key differences in practice are: TIA Portal doesn't allow you partial download (when you download, all changes need to be downloaded), in TIA Portal source and a block are the same thing and finally (and blessedly) the CFC died with old Step 7. TIA is more "idiot proof", it forgives you a lot of mistakes. Whichever one you get used to first will be your favorite. Please don't be a dumb fanboy, these are just development tools, if you use them enough, you will hate both of them

Hello, Step 7 looks more prehistoric :) I hate these address above variables. Tia look more like objective programming.

And a holy war started! 😂. Step7 have CFC support, what about Tia portal ? And 400H not the same 1500H :) You are comparing 2 different controllers that don't even stand next to each other, and here's one big and fat argument s7 fault tolerant connection support by 400H. S71500 It may be good for pumps, but not for continuous process control, such as turbines. I put + for the material, because I see that the author has done a great job, but did not delve into the nuances, but only superficially sanctified the topic

my experience with tia protal - it's a piece of shit. you need to save your project after change because this shit goes crash every time.
