I hate how everyone who criticizes this ride even slightly is called "racist". It's just an excuse for how awful it is. Disney knows this was a dumb move and watching them try so hard to defend it is incredibly sad.
White saviorism is racist. I rode Splash at Disneyland and watched the movie on which the characters were based with my kids. We didn’t see any racism. I’m not black, but I’m not really white either. I follow radical black politics and the last thing they care about is a damn Disney ride. This is virtue signaling that failed.
I’m not going to lie, but I would never go on this Disney ride unless if it was still Splash Mountain; the animatronics of this ride looks really creepy in person, I’d have nightmares of those for a week or a month.
Disney 'imagineers' are lazy and unimaginative. It seems like they rely on a couple better robots and a few carnival tricks ... and a whole lot of fluorescent paint to 'refresh' rides. If you look at Hollywood these days, retro is in ... 80's and 90's. Same with apparel companies ... Nike & Reebok are pushing 80's and 90 retro. People WANT retro ... they don't want refurbs like this. Tiana is the lowest grossing Disney film ever. Leave the park alone ... as they crush more merch and food stands everywhere, it feels much like a carnival or state fair and less than a kingdom. I do miss the Eisner days.
They made it boring on purpose, too. That’s the worst part. More interested in acting like they are super sensitive to not offending anyone. They still managed to make light of salt mines where many a slave lived, worked and died. Disney is terrible.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure needs to be updated with more props When Splash Mountain closed and was rethemed to Tiana's Bayou Adventure I was originally excited but when I watched the official Disney World POV video and while I did like the queue line museum and liked the Animatronics and the music. However, I was very underwhelmed and disappointed as it felt too much like Belle's Magical World. So here's how I would fix the ride. 1. Fix the existing storyline to add conflict with minor villains including Buford, the 2 Fenner Brothers telling us guest they're going to close Tiana's Palace unless they meet payment. 2. For Halloween season rename it to Dr. Facilier's Magic Show and make it follow the events of the movie and make it a fun scary ride including "Friends on the other side" 3. Add more characters statues and high quality cardboard 2D human character citizens cutouts we see in the opening of Princess and the Frog at the beginning of the ride. 4. Also add the songs "When we're human", "Ma Belle Evangeline", "Friends on the Other Side" for Halloween season. 5. Add the stylized 2D Tiana's Palace characters featured in "Almost There" song. 6. Add more critters in Tiana's Garden like a skunk, gopher, otter, rabbit or bats in a cave. 7. For the dark sections add more alligators or critter animal statues like deer, 3 possums hanging from tree branch shown in the film. Add the song "Ma Belle Evangeline" 8. Have Louis play a trumpet and play the song called "When we're Human" and have the animals sing along. 9. In the transformation section with enlarged mushrooms with the frogs, add lady butterflies and pink flamingos dancing. 10. Finally at the drop off play the last verse of "Almost There" or for Halloween season play "Friends on the Other side" as we see Dr. Facilier get sucked in the portal. 11. At the bottom drop show us the iconic tombstone of Dr. Facilier and have the graveyard section as seen from the film. 12. Show Tiana and Naveen as frogs from the film for Dr. Facilier's Magic Show during Halloween season. It's not too late for Disney World to fix the ride to make it feel more fun to ride and change it for Halloween season where Dr. Facilier is the star of the show unless they're stubborn about improving it. If this ride doesn't get improved and I go on the Disneyland ride once and it's that underwhelming and boring like in the POV video. I'll ignore it the next time I go to Disneyland a second time, I'd rather ride on the worst ride Spinning Teacups or go on Autopia or It's A Small World than go on Tiana's Boring Adventure ride. Otherwise I'll wait for a better second retheming of "Pocahontas Around the Riverbend" ride instead. And Tiana's Bayou Adventure will likely get moved elsewhere on a gentle dark ride.
Not likely going to happen. It's already too late. And adding PATF stuff was never going to work anyway as predicted. Give it up. The only update for the failure is to put back the original. They did before in some rides like the Enchanted Tiki Room by putting the original back and undoing the "Under New Management" theme. They can do it again when possible new leadership takes over and kicks out Iger. It's the only way and its as simple as that. Now get use to it.
They are afraid of voodoo now so ain’t gonna happen. Apparently the lead on this crappy ride wanted there to be no tension because we are babies that can’t handle it or something.
Similar to what’s coming out of Disney’ studios, the creativity bar is just set really low. There is likely only one thing that will bring change… a consistently falling stock price. And that only happens when consumers start to disappear. It’s beginning to happen with the movies and Disney+, and maybe a bit with the parks. But until the bottom line is seriously impacted Disney’s current status won’t likely change. My family LOVES Disney, but we are sad that its current status seems so short of its past grandeur.
@@asudevil316”Bigotry and nostalgia”. Stop coping. Splash mogged TBA. If TBA was truly better, everyone would know it. You wouldn’t have to rely on the “muh bigotry” argument.
@@asudevil316I’m sorry, bigotry?? We’ve clearly reached new heights in the oppression olympics if people are getting offended by a theme park ride about a bunny getting chased by a fox and a bear 😭😭
I disagree with the animatronics, the high tech ones don't really do much but move their arms and hips and talk, Splash and Navi had their bots purpose built for their part of the story, all in dynamic poses. Any Tiana animatronic can be swapped and barely ANYTHING would change. The low quality bots don't do much either but sway along or do anything to the story.
It was only racist if you’re going to go out searching for any possible way to get offended (it wasn’t, this world we live in is just incredibly soft and backwards)
The ride was definitely not racist and they took everything out that made the original movie controversial. Heck. I've seen the movie and I'm half African American and the movie isn't as bad as people want you to believe. I actually enjoyed the movie and totally didn't tear up at the end like a loser.
@@Misscouchpotato- Song of the South for sure has its issues, but I'd say they're mostly the result of being "40s progressive": there were attempts to be more respectful in their depictions for the time, but that time was still the 40s when stereotypes were still heavily present. I don't blame people for taking offense to it because it is pretty hokey, but at the same time, people acting like it's the Disney equivalent of Birth of a Nation are definitely exaggerating a bit.
They went for short term optics at the expense of long term consumer trust, opting to rush a half-baked idea through development to pat themselves on the back.
Honestly, Tiana’s Bayou adventure sounded like a good concept, but it was poorly executed. There needs to be a better storyline, more animatronics, and more things to look at. They should’ve used Dr Facilier for the large drop. I know he’s dead, but he could’ve been a ghost.
Sure, the queue does look amazing but the mural and the signage of the car makes it look modern instead of the year it’s supposed to be in. I do agree that the animatronics are amazing and the storyline doesn’t quite make sense. However, most music I liked but the Special Spice song is ok for a place like Chuck E Cheese but not for a Mardi Gras celebration. I mean New Orleans Mardi Gras is all about colorful, great jazz like music, and it makes you want to get up and dance. This feels more like a rush to get it out the door so they can seem like it will be superior even though it’s not. Sure there are a lot of animatronics at the end but it doesn’t feel like a Mardi Gras celebration it feels like arriving at a dock being greeted by people you know or don’t on a cruise. I know I haven’t been on it yet but what I’m seeing through a lot of videos it’s definitely a downgrade almost kind of like Journey into Your Imagination or Tiki Room Under New Management or both.
Riding Tiana’s, it’s grown on me. It went from me hating it, to me being meh to it and noticing it as a fun little romp. But splash mountain is still FAAAAAAAR the superior ride.
You Just Can't Accepet That Splash Mountain Centered Around The Never Released On DVD Banned Animated & Live Action Walt Disney Pictures Movie Song Of The South Was Being Replaced With The Characters From Walt Disney Pictures - The Princess and the Frog [2009].
Say what you will about its source material, but Splash Mountain adapted Song of the South's animated sequences into a 10-ish minute thrill ride experience much better than TBA adapted Princess and the Frog.
I actually thought that was one of the best ,definitely longer than the expensive short log ride of the avatar that I had high expectations of that flopped.
If they don't have any room for animatronics get people who do the characters for the ride I think that would be nice I think that the prince should have been in Tiana's Bayou Adventure and I think you would be cool to see Dr facilier too
You wasted your breath with lies and delusions bud. According to the bad receptions, unpopularity, and bad malfunctions, it is not. Do your homework properly.
The only thing that happen before the announcement was that there was a petition for splash mountain to get rethemed to Princess and the frog shorty after the tragedy of George Floyd. And the petition got 21,306 signatures.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was astroturfed (i.e. put out by Disney to make it appear grassroots) so that they could then announce the retheme and pat themselves on the back.
I hope they do a little more at Disneyland now that they learned from WDW and how people reacted to the ride like they can add something quickly to it cause I want to go for my b-day ( November 20th) 😭🙏
They announced it before closing due to the backlash they were receiving for using a Song of the South theme. Song of the South is a controversial film from 1946 due to its portrayal of African American and plantation life. Disney decided to take the ride in a different direction. They had no plan though when they announced it, only a concept.
But they dug themselves in a hole because they clearly only wanted to sweep the old theme under the rug, rather than truly wanting to deliver a more compelling attraction.
It's always sad when a beloved ride gets a make-over, but it is part of staying relevant. My problem is how the "new ride" feels so unfinished, still kinda relies on screens, and seems to break down more than test track. If a ride is refurbished, it has to be 100x better than the original layout or people will be pissed.
TIANA'S BAYOU ADVENTURE IS VERY AWESOME, WHOEVER SAID TIANA'S BAYOU ADVENTURE IS WORST AND BORING AND THE RETHEMING SUCKS, YOU ALL SUCKS AND HAVE NO LOVE FOR TIANA'S BAYOU ADVENTURE.
I think you only dislike it because it replaced splash. It has everything an amazing ride has. Also even though Tiana’s does not look like frontier land, the ride actually makes more sense the splash did.
It replaced Splash _poorly_ . The ride is mid on its own, but the story (or lack thereof) they're trying to tell does not fit at all with a thrilling log flume.
@@A_A610 not really, I just went on it and they are very equal. There’s a lot better in splash and a lot of things better in Tiana’s. Also if your curious, there is a little dead space, but you go by very fast in real life. And splash Mountain had its fare share of dead space too. The electronics are even better in real life and look way bigger. Like that bear scene, the baby bear is like 4 foot. Writing is basically like haunted mansion holiday, everyone loves the ride and it’s very good but if it replace the haunted mansion, everyone would say they dislike it
The new ride is ok... it could of been better. I like Tiana. She's probably one of the best Disney princesses and she deserves better. I feel so bad for the old and new animatronics lol
