They are still doing it for the hype or the feeling of feeling nothing, so they can never truly destroy it if it gets destroyed without their own consent
No actually anything and everything stays around unless you count black holes... And I mean yeah, don’t go all Anakin Skywalker on everything and murder a bunch of children, but attachment is natural and it doesn’t hurt to try even with the knowledge that it is pointless.
@@anonymousdude7982 Which is why the dude said to never get TOO attached to something/someone. He did not say getting attached to something/someone is bad, but getting too attached is. As for everything getting destroyed, that remains arbitrary and debatable.
One of the four noble truths about Buddhism (like with Tibetan Buddhism here) is that suffering comes from attachment, so the idea here is that these Monks are showing that no matter how much time and effort you put into something it'll eventually be destroyed one day. That's why you shouldn't get too attached to anything because nothing lasts forever.
