@@DGGarage I've been looking into the irp shirt shifter for the 86 but a couple have said it's over priced for something that won't help me so idk it's on the list but no rush to buy it
Great video had a bad taste in my mouth about the MGW from my last C5Z and was looking for a good video comparing and this is it for sure … will be ordering the tick shifter today !
They've pretty much fixed the MGW. At least the flat stick model. It still has a cut out on one corner of the lower box to clear the ledge on the torque tube. It's sealed by foam insulation that goes on the torque tube during install.
I had some issues with my Tick shifter during the installation. #1- Comes with two washers that are meant to go between the shifter body and the 2 bolts going into the torque tube. Nowhere in the directions or in the installation video is this mentioned #2- the boot on the shifter had holes in it. Had to seal it with liquid wire glue. Also, when retorquing the bolts I noticed the boot won't stay on after installation. Had to clean the greatest from it and seal it down with some more liquid wire glue. #3 Instructions do not mention locktite. However locktite is a must to get the rod/rail bolt to stay in place . #4 For the money I will never understand reusing the 1 crappy bolt for the shift rod into the shift rail. Those bolts strip super easy and have a ton of where . #5 Its still notchy to many. Many people have reported that the anti-venom mod still may be needed to relieve some of the notchiness and stiffness. Especially on downshifts.
If you buy the tick monthly membership (8 dollars a month) the price drops all the way down to 501, I’d know because I just bought it lol. You also get free shipping and there’s no sales tax, so it’s 501 straight to your door no sales tax or shipping which I was very pleasantly surprised by. I’ll update this comment when my shifter arrives and likely make a dedicated video about it.
