My boyfriend and I watch you guys every time after we watch a movie (We have Regal pass so we watch A LOT of movies heh) and the first thing we say when we get home is "Can't wait to see what Fish and Jelly have to say about this one!" Thanks for all of your reviews!! 😀
Ok, so I noticed that George Clooney and Julia Robert’s seem to only choose films where they go to lavish location. It reminds me of how Adam Sandler and his crew go on vacations for movies. Idk…I was hoping they would be next level viscous to each other and end up as friends at the end of the movie. Thanks for another fun review! Oh and I watch your reviews on my tv and then come on the RU-vid app just so I can comment. That’s how much I love your reviews 😊 Cheers!
When I saw the trailer, I cringed. I remember George Clooney swearing off rom-coms. I admit that I love a rom-com every now and again, but this just looks so basic as you guys said.
Its exactly what I thought. Like Black Adam it feels like this was meant to be released 5 years ago. And with two big stars like Clooney and Roberts, I knew it would either be really touching, or just very mediocre with two stars to sell tickets. Nice review.
Love the Milton reference. I’m not a fan of rom coms and would HATE this one. Thanks for the warning. This review is more entertaining than the movie, I’m sure.
Seeing the trailer alone made me sad for the film industry. Exactly the type of movie I can't stand. Thanks for your always interesting take on it. I feel sorry for you that you end up watching so many stupid movies 😂 just my opinion btw
Did they need to make this movie to keep their SAG membership and insurance? Is that a thing still? I can't believe someone decided to bring these two A list veterans back just for a shitpile of a movie. Producers must've been high 😂 Thanks for the wonderful review, Joseph, Nick!
Nick..you are sooo right about the Insulated world of privilege from Nancy Myers but her home interiors are always so *beautiful* Over the years I love her set designer who does the home interiors for her movies. I bought the stream of "It's Complicated" years back so that I could keep looking at THAT kitchen and pastry restaurant, lol. The little cottage in the Holiday, so cozy....I know..shameful
Agree with your review, well critiqued.. I thought it was awful and cringy. The only one that I liked in it was Lucas Bravo ( Julia's BF)- though I hated that his character was written so badly and was wasted talent just like Billie Lorde. Someone once told me if the lead actors are to be paid BIG, then the script suffers... The script really suffered..thanks for this!
This film opened months ago in South Africa, weird to see it only coming to you guys now. Also found it very basic when I saw it in the theaters here. More a streaming movie than a theater-going experience.
Well looks like this two can 'get-together' to sabotage daughter's wedding! Saying 'something' about 'superficial relationship' - comedy part. Yes, the romance part is for them too. Hahaha! Joseph was like, "there's no conversation between the parents and the child" - correct about the basic plot.
It is like JR and GC are to big to actually buy as any character the preview was just trite and the story is way to blah, why would they make this movie. Maybe a different cast but still blah story. Your review solidifies what I saw from the preview.
When the Wren girl said "A little help here" while in the ocean, I thought "so you ain't supposed to just swim to the boat just like Lily? what help are you talking about?" and almost everything seems biased. as soon as they found themselves stuck in the ocean, suddenly they're now like professional swimmers...and every line from Wren is so predictable and annoying like am i supposed to find her funny? stfu. You can build good movies even with plots like this but this movie is just badly produced, it feels like this is so unrealistic like what, you see how they grow seaweed and now you think you miss the whole point of living the way you did? girl you just spent 4 years in school not 15 years of suffering that you feel like you have to get out of that pattern to be happy. It thought you nothing? it is not meaningful to you in anyhow?
I'm hollering at the "Anytime Anyplace" line. This film was a snore 😴 The sucking of the poison 🤢. They just walked off 🤣 from the parents 🏝️. Did they eat the pig no seasoning I would've starved 🤣 Every scene that was meant to be funny just clipped away so ⏩ quickly. The tacky best friend ugh I hate when they make the main seem like a saint but they're friends something has to be in common. No real sexual tension/romance. I know they jumped off the boat but what about the luggage 🧳 🤣 It was all a mess 😅🚢 I couldn't even watch the bloopers 🤷🏿♀️
The whole plot is unrealistic…an American who is supposed to work at a top law firm won’t randomly start getting married and live in Bali forever within a month? Also the divorced couple for years raised their daughter for years but never got back together but it only happened in Bali? Lol
You know what, this movie was fun. Didn’t blow me away with dialogue and the storytelling was off. Should have been released in the summer and not October. But it was cute.
Saw this movie last night with a capacity audience. I equate it to a beer with 2% alcohol: somewhat satisfying and easy to digest but by no means great. Just go into this movie knowing exactly what you are ordering/seeing. Not a great film at all - but damn - such a pleasant watch with its faults easily forgiven. By the way, I love your reviews. You guys see ALL the theatrical releases which is so cool. 15 to 20 minutes per film is perfect. Will you be reviewing IFC's Pretty Problems? Curious to see what you think of that.
Just one serious question. I admire the way you lovingly tolerate Joseph speaking over you. I have serious memory deficits and find myself doing that regularly. Joseph, ho we do you handle that in relationships? Do you ever explain it? I find myself apologizing a lot
It's just a lame movie it seems. Thank you Joseph and Nick for giving us the scoop. This movie sounds painful. Yikes. Hahaha thankfully you guys kept your sense of humor for this drek. Just seems like a movie of white people problems hahaha
Looks like a Nancy Myers’s movie or a Hallmark movie. This looked bad from the trailer and I never really cared for George Clooney and Julia Robert’s as actors.
I can appreciate Julia Roberts throwing herself into the role, but the character is such a "karen." I mean there's literally nothing wrong with her life and they just bicker all day long. . . . I feel like I have to give this film a "one" just because it treats the Balinese culture so ugh dismissively, happy natives, one-dimensional
Hirsute huckster that is brilliant on so many levels I love you guys they get to go back to wherever the hell they came from you have me spitting out my water every time I listen to you too loving it :-)
