I like the "studio" set up. I own the 10 year anniversary, European Edition, and picked up the New York copy for $5 on clearance. I got New York to leave in the car and break out for a quick game. Thanks for a good comparison of three games.

I bought TtR London, it's a nice filler. I would never play a bigger TtR, no way I spend about one hour with that game. Great review, your channel is awesome. Greetings from Argentina

Have you tried TTR: Berlin? Looks like the crunchiest of the small-box games (including San Fran) due to having two different types of trains to consider.

I have TTr London also. We’ve been having a blast so far. Less than 10 minutes for a 2p game. Love the district mechanic and it does give you an alternative. Would you say Amsterdam mechanism is like Pensilvania? Great video!

Great to hear! Amsterdam is "close" to that one. You don't have multiple sets of cards, just one and it's just covering the same symbol on the various tracks. It will feel familiar like a "mini-Pensylvania" but it's no substitute - i quite like that map.

Luke, thanks for your review! Time to update it, as for small box TTR, there is now San Francisco, Berlin, and soon to be released Paris. So, now how will they stack up? Must be successful since more have been released. I was hesitant about getting a small box (city) version, but just played my first game of Berlin tonight. I chose Berlin, because it does remind of Rails and Sails, with the decision making requirement of choosing between street cars and subway to complete a route. (Yes, I’m a fan or Rails and Sails.) Berlin streamlines the concept of two modes of transportation but shares one set of transportation cards. I anticipate using Berlin as intro. For non-gamers to TTR environment, filler game and travel. Hard to say often it may return to the table.

I think by now when you have seen one small box version you've seen them all, there's no reason to own them all.

I ended up buying Amsterdam, since I liked the aesthetics better and those bonus cards seemed to add some spice to the very basic gameplay. I really like it, the only negative for us is that most of the location names are unpronounceable, lol.

other than for pure collection purposes, does one need to own them all? would they provide a distinctive enough experience?

Personally, no. It's great when they are all at a cafe, but unless you're a fanatic I wouldn't own all 3. I don't own NewYork and if I didn't have to review Amsterdam I probably wouldn't own it either. I purposely kept London.

I couldn’t bring myself to buy Amsterdam after the first two. They were just too dull. The only time I enjoyed playing them was with the nieces and nephews to introduce them to the gaming hobby.
