Bought a copy and enjoy it. I would absolutely love to see a Chicago version using their elevated rail system instead of taxis. That would be fantastic!
This is my first ticket to ride. Didn't want to commit to 40 so bought this for 20 instead. It was a great buy for me. planning to buy a big ticket to ride soon. How different is TTR Europe from TTR USA other than the board. I think my GF will appricate the flavor of Europe more.
New York does has multiple train lines... Would have been interesting to either have both trains and taxis or just stick with trains. Having taxis only seems like a gimmick.
Regarding the iPad analogy, both my wife and her mom use iPad minis as they make good readers. They both replaced kindles with them and they love them for just the right size and weight to hold up while reading. They found the 10" iPads too heavy and the iPhones had too small a screen. Personally I use a 10" iPad for gaming, notes, and youtube. I also would just prefer the original ticket to ride over the smaller New York version.
I've been interested in this one since I heard about it. Seems like a good and fun game, will definitely need to pick it up in my FLGS. Is it me or does Zee look really tired? Probably too much games, haha
Think of Ticket to Ride New York as a introduction to the larger game. It is better to learn the game dynamics on the smaller scale before jumping straight to the larger one.
First Journey is a children game, a simplistic one, with pictures as cities for kids who can't read. A game where even you can't choose the cards which you are topdecking. This is a fast filler for those who can read.
Looks ok, but I see that this definitely tailored to different people, and I see the value of it for certain groups of people. This would definitely work with those with a "squirrel" mentality who can't focus/sit for longer than 25 minutes. Kind of wish that made it subway lines, but I guess it wouldn't be as appealing.
I think this could be a great game to play with a younger child with a limited attention span. Its also just the right size and takes the right length of time for travel on a cruise ship.
winnie666 - well yeah, it's hard when they are to young to read, but its doable. I taught my daughter to read while playing games. Its amazing how quick they pick stuff up. I was ready to scream into a pillow whenever she brought candyland and pretty pretty princess out to play
Thanks for this review. I just don't see the point in buying this game when I have both copies of the First Journey versions. I thought there would be a cool catch, but I guess they missed an opportunity.
