Really awesome review mate. I am going to order this one. I have Garmin, Huawei and use to have polar but this Ticwatch ticks a lot of boxes😂 Smart and feature packed. Can HRV be recorded? I would like to think the app store should have something for altitude acclimation and HRV
Bought this watch 2 days ago and the sleep tracking has been TERRIBLE, i woke up at 5:30 and played with the watch for more than an hour but at 7:30am it decided to mark my wake-up time, never seen anything that bad, i used to have Mi bands and Huawei bands for many years now and they are excellent at sleep tracking. Also, the battery is not that great too, but i will have to keep an eye on that for some more days before coming to a final conclusion.
I’m pretty sure sleep tracking is far more of a gimmick than precise, although it should be able to determine laying down and getting up times pretty well. Lmk if you find the battery life gets better once the novelty of a new watch goes away. In the beginning I’m always playing with the watch and the battery life is horrendous.
I definitely watched this whole review and I'm impressed. You gave a very in-depth runner's review. Unfortunately, I'm a fat ass that only wants the smart watch part of the watch.😅⌚️👍
Excellent review, Matt! That's a very thorough view of this device, and it looks like a contender. The features and options are almost overwhelming which might be a good metric itself. If you have the mental wherewithal to absorb all of this, you could probably train harder.⌚
@@its_Matt_B_ That speaks well to your capacity to handle training. You're doing lots more than I am and I feel like I'm pretty close to my limit. I'm seeing good progress but my mental wherewithal is definitely limited and I feel it when I try to absorb this much new information. Still, that's what makes it an excellent review.
@@largeeddie I get it, Eddie! These watches (most of them released nowadays) have far more features than most of us will ever use. I skipped a lot of information on features of this watch just to keep it at a manageable length. Before I edited this video I had about 70 minutes of raw footage! (This is just to give you an idea of how much dead air and cuts I made).
@@its_Matt_B_ I can only imagine! Like so many things in our world, I guess we decide if it's worth the price for the features we expect to use and don't worry about the rest. For a reviewer, that could make for tough choices though.
@@largeeddie I don’t remember which watch it was, but years ago I remember the pull to get it because it had a skydiving activity mode! Now I realize all watches with a barometer could essentially serve the same purpose, but back then it seemed new and exciting. No, I havent been skydiving since I’ve had a watch that could tell me my altitude. 🤣
I had a whoop band, but am going to stop using it as my membership is up and am going to be getting this watch. I like the dual display. The only bummer is that I hope they update it so that it can connect to an external heart rate chest strap, but that's probably unlikely given that they never updated the tic watch pro 3
I’m with you! Allowing it to connect to external devices (HRM, footpod) will really improve its capability as a sports watch! The optical heart rate sensor isn’t bad at all, but if you’re used to a chest strap it’s obviously not going to be as precise.
It is not easy to compare sleep results this way. Short said - without deep compare, the stages REM, Deep, Awake on Mobvoi / Apple / Garmin differs - and seems quite lot. But Garmin and Apple seem to measure a little the same. Apple should be not bad in sleep stages accordin scientist review, which I watch regullary. Try to compare with fitbit as well.
Yeah, these comparisons are really just for entertainment value. I wouldn’t put any stock in the accuracy at any one of them, although you’re right about Apple supposedly having somewhat accurate results.
Can you turn off that horrible 1970s screen saver watch screen? It is hedious. If so, how long will the battery last? I will get this or the Amazfit T-Rex Pro Smart Watch as they are similiar budget. All advice appreciated. Thanks.
Good review and I am thinking of getting it. I currently have the Huawei Watch GT Runner in gray but living in the US, I can't get full access to the app if all the faces. Honestly I wouldn't be looking for a new watch if I had the black version ⌚
Thanks Matt for the review! I wanted to ask you if navigation works on this watch without a cell phone? I mean if you can navigate with Ticwatch pro 5 how is it with Garmin? can you download maps to the watch? Thank you
⌚Hey Matt. Actually can I ask about your coros 2 watch? I have the Apex which doesn't do a running fitness test but my running fitness app just doesn't change or hasn't changed since October which was my last HM race. It's stuck on 89.9 Yours? Doe's it move with each run?
Hey Alan! I wouldn't say it changes each time, but it does change! For a day or two during my build up to Boston I hit 90, but that didn't last long. I'm at 88.9 at the mo.
@@its_Matt_B_ I like the concept but no change since October is weird. Also that was a new PB for 10k & HM and the time before when it changed was early October PB Marathon.
Is there an option to use compass in essential mode? Please don't give me the answer without checking, because on the basis of that i am going to buy the watch Please also share the video of it if possible Thanks
Yes you can use the compass in essential mode. You can rotate the crown and I believe it is the last mode that shows you orientation in degrees. Cheers
And who doesn’t like power heavy features, I read a comment about the Garmin 965 recently, can’t remember the exact comment but it went along the lines of ‘garish Amoled screen’😂 Turn it down or dont buy it you ****
You're right! I bet we can't find a single person who doesn't like the power hungry features! Well, except for the person who made that comment! He's best sticking with his old Casio!
