Love you man, you are a genius. Been in Florida 11 years, and still haven't landed that "whoppa ", lol, thank you so so much for the info. Just pulled up the tide chart, and about to get my rods ready and head out. Only 15 minute drive. Will be second time today at the beach this year! Been a rough year for me. Your video was the first in Google that popped up when I googled asking a specific question of "what time during the tide is best time to catch fish". YOU, my friend are a Godsend and a blessing. You sound like a kind soul, with a great heart. Bless you man. This means the world to me. Life is too short, and heck, you are only a stone throw away. Would LOVE to fish with you some day! Many blessings 🙌 🙏 ✨️. Peace!( p.s. it's 2:59 am, atm)
Thanks for your Channel I watched which tide is best and how to read the beach in the morning and went fishing on a low tide on dusk and had a great time catching a 40cm Pinkie, 45cm Salmon and a Southern Rock COD It really made my day
I always found the dead bottom of the tide is when the sand crabs and stingrays seem to turn up but that might just be me ! Thanks for the video Roger !
Thanks Roger, am absolutely loving ur channel. Very handy useful tips. Been doing alot more fishing since the corona virus, and watching ur vids in the downtime is the new norm. Cheers mate
Thank you for the effort you put in to sharing your knowledge. Your videos are now my go to when wanting to learn something new or consolidate some old habits with a greater understanding.
I'm here in Melbourne Florida. I'm just killing time until a rain cloud passes over, then I'm going fishing, at low tide. I think this video wants me to buy a plane ticket to fish for Mullaway (?) a fish I've never heard of.
Very informative and easy to understand, can't wait for my next fishing trip. Thank you for tips and experience's, looking forward to your next videos cheers 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for your advice, now I understand fully your explanation where to fish during hightide or lowtide. It's really better to scout the beach during lowtide.
Hi Rodger, im new to your channel im from Fleetwood in England, I found your presentation very informative and easy to understand the way you guys fish from the beach is pretty much the same as we do in the UK only difference being the fish species we are after are different probably due to the climate difference anyway thanks for sharing your knowledge im after checking out your other videos such as the way you catch worms from the beach over here we either use a pump or dig them out of the sand i wish ours were as long as the worms you are catching, anyway by for now. Take care and stay safe my friend. Les Ogden.
I can't stop watching your videos . As a beach fisherman from the West coast of US I am fasenated with other areas of the world. I am curios about the fish you call Salmon as I have fished for them here but don't recognise yours. How did they become the name Salmon in your neck of the woods ?
Hi Gene, We call them Australian Salmon here but they are a different fish to the Salmon that you get in the U.S They were named by early European settlers because of their superficial resemblance to your Salmon.
Hey Roger Love the channel!!! Could you help me as I am new to beach fishing... Do swells play a role in beach fishing e.g if the swell is too high or low and the sea is too rough would that make it a waste of time trying? And what would the ideal conditions to go down and give it a go? I'm hoping to catch salmon since it's winter now but not fussed if I catch whatever comes out :) Was hoping you can help. Thanks for all the great info!!!
Hi Christos, Yes the size of the swell plays a role in beach fishing. Above about 2m is really getting too big, there is too much movement of water and if you add strong wind to it, then forget about it. Ideally I like around 1m of swell. When it is flat, there are no features, no whitewater. In flat conditions it is best to cast really close to shore.
Thanks for the info Roger. Nothing new but confirmed my suspicions. I was taught when I first started fishing that the tide change was the best time to fish as the water movement changed direction and started removing sand exposing food for the smaller fish much like what you said about the whiting. Also at tide change it's easier to hold bottom with less water movement again as you discussed with your 12 stages of the tide (an interesting chart sort of figured out something similar through time but again you've factulized it). This all worked when I fished the south coast of WA, now I've moved to Perth and fishing different waters I've found wind direction the most important thing as the beaches can get very weedy if the wind is coming from anywhere westerly. But for tide times I've started using a solunar chart which is more around the rise and set times of the moon. It is not the be all end all but worth looking at. What your thoughts on the Solunar chart
I was wondering if you would do some rock fishing videos. I am new to rock and beach fishing and have found some great spots near my home, but am losing more gear than catching fish.
Hi Fedor, I have done more rock fishing than beach fishing, it is a big passion. Over the coming months I am starting videos on rock fishing, regards Roger. What area do you live?
@@RogerOsborneFishing Melbourne at the moment but we go along the east coast of Vic and NSW. Some days we find good spots others just nothing or lose a lot of gear on shelving. Pretty new to beach and rocks.
After this video I made my way to the beach and yelled out to the water: "You hear me Fish! Roger stated you are to be feeding here at all times! Do we have an understanding! Let this be your First formal warning to all you cheeky fish!" I will bag out next time for certain 😅
Hi Roger another great video I drive from Camden to Woolongong beaches to fish with little success could you recommend any specific locations around Wollongong for me ?
My question is more about the Tides and not about fishing. There is a beach nearby my house that I go to for photoshoots and to fly my drone. Most times I am there its low tide and I can walk out along the beach but there are times when I go to that beach and its clearly high tide with the water all the way in to the shore line and no way to walk out on the beach. In terms of Low Tide at the beach when the Tide chart says Low tide will be at say 9:00am. Is that the time it will be at its lowest meaning I would be able to walk out onto the beach, or should I wait 1-2 hours past the Low Tide time so in my example, would I go to the beach around 10-11am instead? I am just trying to get a better understanding. Thanks so much!
Hi Matt, there are plenty of good options on the Northern Beaches. All of the beaches fish well. Curl Curl and Dee Why to Long Reef are excellent. Where you fish is really based on the conditions at the time when you want to go fishing. Watch my videos on How To Read a Beach, cheers Roger.
Hey Roger, I have gotten into beach fishing recently with astounding results over the past 2 weeks. Last Friday I caught my first salmon and also a 30 centimetre bream in the same spot. However what I thought was a deep gutter appears to be made up with a truckload of seaweed. I have noticed that there is a gap in weed right on shore. Should this be the place I persist and target. Or do I try different parts of the beach with less weed. Also I have been hooking lots of sea weed but also hooking big fish. I am torn between staying at this spot and putting up with the weed or moving somewhere else. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks jonah Ps: I am pretty sure I lost a good sized mulloway with massive headshakes and I got the bait back which confirmed it wasn't a shark.
Hi Jonah, Thanks for your comment and questions. Regarding the Seaweed, a little bit of weed is ok but if you keep hooking it you should move to a weed free part of the beach. The weed moves around the beach with the tide and currents. Sounds like you're having some good fun !! Cheers Roger
Hi Diljale, I'm not sure about beaches in Norway. There are advantages to fishing both low and high tide. What species of fish do you catch from the beach in Norway?
Darren Morgan This is for the east coast ( west coast the wind directions are reversed ) Westerly winds that are prolonged knock the swell down and this leads to a beach with little wave action , clear water and tends to fill in the gutters . Easterly winds have the opposite effect up to the point where the swell gets too big to fish the beach .
Hey Roger what about dodge tides? I got a 0.4m at 8:00 in the morning and a 1m high tide at 5:00 in the afternoon. It's it worth having a go or am I wasting my time?
