Short range is correct, they are basically line of sight radios. I have two Midlands that we use around the house and around the property. I tested mine and they are very limited in range taking into consideration the landscape. Thank you for sharing. I would not count on one during an emergency.

Definitely short range, depending on terrain, etc. I was surprised at the range. At over five miles, we were definitely not line of sight. Whatever the communication means, I hope people test their radios prior to an emergency. Cheers Janice!

Headset? Fancy! The years between CB radio and cell phones Glen’s gpa bought a set of 4 for the farm. He always wanted to know what was happening and they had an amazing range, it was crazy.

I just watched your other video where you showed your equipment. I thought to myself, that you have the perfect terrain for GMRS, and you should have a couple of GMRS HTs for short range. I live where there's a lot of homes and trees, and I'm lucky if I can get 1.5 miles with my 5 watt TD-H3's

Being around homes and trees sure presents problems for VHF communication. My ham HT's seem to have a slightly further range. It might be the antenna that comes with it. These FRS HT's sure have a great range. I also just received a GMRS HT. I'm going to give it a workout and produce a review. Thanks for stopping by to watch and comment! Have a great week!

Great video… I have basically the same radios from Retevis. In East Tn with all the mountains you’re lucky if you can get 1/2 mile

We've got very good terrain around our homestead. We've tested it near the river and have still had good range over the hills. I feel this is a great radio to use for communicating with your family in case of an emergency. Thanks for stopping by to watch and comment. Cheers!
