Wow, fascinating to watch the railroad tie replacement. My great-great grandmother used to work laying down railroad ties. That was back in the early 1900s, so they didn't have this kind of equipment to do the hard work.

The ponderous delicacy of the track-repairing equipment was simply fascinating--and the music was (as always!) perfect. The parade of MOW equipment was pretty cool too, and it's always nice to see the Rocky Mountaineer. Thanks for another great one!

MOW parades always take me back to Close Encouters of the Third Kind when all those ships came into the scene, pretty far out...the rollout of CSX 1875 led by another heritage is sick! Who'dve thunk fusion jazz would pair so well with tie replacement...I digress. Happy Days VRF.

This ex-UP engine kinda reminds me of the Missouri Pacific engines of the 1980s when MoPac was owned by UP, but not officially integrated into the UP system 5:57 two CSX GEVOs sandwiching one of their old research cars 6:26 wrecked ALC42 300 trailing on a NS intermodal. This thing was damaged almost a year ago, and is taking a slow trip to Amtrak storage 7:13 UP 1995 7:27 Canadian Pacific track evaluation train goes both directions after switching tracks 8:23 Rocky Mountaineer at the same location 14 minutes later 9:12 This is the 2nd time this camera has caught an SD60E running long-hood-forawrd. I'm amazed a wide cab unit has become power for a local job 9:23 NS 6963 is also an SD60E, but is leading a long-distance mixed freight 10:20 CN 8952 in Grand Trunk blue leading 10:25 wow, CSX heritage units 1869 (C&O) and 1875 (P&LE) on the same train! 13:14 wow, two P&W B39-8s with AEM7 917, which is heading to the Danbury Railroad museum! Glad to see a third AEM7 go to a railway museum! There's one at the Railroad museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, and another at the Illinois Railway Museum 14:16 West coast Express F59PHI trailing on a CSX train 14:58 UP 1988 leading solo 16:03 more CSX tie replacement, at 24:25 the Auto Train traverses the redone track the following afternoon

those heritage units sure do look amazing, plus they are all freshly painted and clean. So many locos look like they've been sprayed in acid, rolled in mud and set on fire.

This video of the repair work in Ashland was taken at around 2am. I was there from noon until 3pm that day and the work was still going on. Multiple in-town crossings were closed, creating an incredible traffic hassle!

Why don't they just hook all those m o w equipment together and make a single train it would probably save a little fuel

The bad thing about having all those classic vehicles in Chehalis, is that when the Cascadia Subduction zone tears loose, everything west of I-5 "will be toast." I pray that the owners of said classic vehicles live east of I-5.
