forgot to include Feral Druid + Subtlety Rogue in S tier, definitely one of the best comps out there…and Frost Mage + Shadow Priest which is comparable to playing with Disc or Rogue in terms of performance - B tier
I agree with almost everything, but assigning an S-tier ranking to feral+sub might be excessive due to its vulnerability against feral+healer. For instance, when feral+sub encounters feral+disc, the sub side's feral becomes practically helpless against Hibernate, Cyclone, Psychic Scream, Bash, etc., while the feral+disc easily takes down the sub. In my view, in matchups like this, if the top-tier teams from both sides meet, the sub side needs to execute at least two or more fine plays to be considered on par. (e.g. using Shadow Cloak at good timing to dodge Psychic Scream or finding disc's feral.) Actually, this vulnerability is a phenomenon commonly observed in feral + DPS versus feral + healer matchups overall.(Hibernate is a real issue.) As a feral player myself, I have experienced this gap firsthand by playing both compositions at the highest level. Apart from that, I find the tier rankings for other compositions to be quite reasonable. I'm looking forward to a tier list for 3v3 comps as well!
@@Dreamonology During the Cataclysm era, I experienced about 5,000 matches of 2v2 as a Feral Druid, consistently reaching rank 10 on my realm. My teammate, a Rogue, was a Gladiator player with legendary gear, while I had heroic Kiril and 3v3 2200rate weapon. Our races were Night Elf and Human, likely the best choice for our setup. The most formidable opponent we encountered was a rank 1 team consisting of a Disc + Feral. As I mentioned, our conclusion was that while Ferals were incapacitated by crowd control, Rogues were easily torn apart. This was also evident when I played as Feral with a Disc. What strategies could be employed for a Feral + Rogue to defeat a Feral Disc? Tell me.
Hello, make a tier list of the easiest and hardest spec in pvp, I think it will be useful information for those who decided to play pvp in a cataclysm without experience
ty for tier list. it helped me to choose new main for cata classic. could u make 3v3 tier list? and maybe few explanations about arena tactics u know good, as u did it with ret+unholy(probably i chose unholy as a new main so it's clear what i interested in😂)?
woot i been waiting for this, i sit in whitemane discord in the pvp channel all day asking questions lol, I never did cata during 2010 retail, and Pservers I mostly only played wotlk or panda land i did play molten/warmane cata for a bit before it died, but i sucked ass I know wotlk well, just not cata, been trying out every class on instant 80 mode on whitemane. Prob still stick to warlock for 3s since warlock been my main since 2004
@@MEYTRIX oh its content, it is either people asking questions normal stuff, or it's people pvping each other in the channel and arguing over arena losses, it's a good time lol.
I was 2860cr in wotlk playing SpM and im considering just maining rogue for 2s with the mage instead. Spriest is stronger in 3s from my memory. You should make a 3s tier list if you haven't yet.
NEVER have i ever seen warlock not top in S or A tier in any single video expcialy in cata when they shine with unlimited life steal in demo ... and nonstop giant burst with kaos bolt and the 10% buff they get for dots for affliction ? so confused why they not there ...
Idk if you’re being serious, NEVER have I ever seen a demo or destro warlock high in 2v2 ladder, chaos bolt does like 15k dmg (ppl have 120k hp at least) and wtf is “life steal” in demo? 😅
What are some solid pairings for frost mage? My friend wants to main frost mage for PvP in Cata and I want to pick something strong that I can play with them, while still doing great in RBGs if I'm pugging by myself.
what about double blood dk? cataclysm has to be the expansion in which they've been the strongest, any non healing non double spellcaster comp would likely also default to losing to this comp. Even past that I'd imagine a healer + dps pairing would severely struggle to take down one of the blood dk, especially with good coordination of the glyph'ed healing with runetap and lichborne deathcoil healing of one another. I'd imagine the single strongest race would be blood elf for the extra silences, would make it that much more manageable to kill spellcasters and healers, which are the only real threats to blood dks.
Good against melee cleaves, but they would struggle against anything ranged when they can’t get in melee range for their Death Strikes, dps+heal comps would struggle but the Blood DKs would also not be able to kill anyone - almost no CC outside of Strangulate and it DRs with one another so they can’t chain it, used to be a good comp back in the day when ppl couldn’t play properly, but isn’t as good anymore
2.1k xp as elemental shaman with shadow priest. ( not even full geared) i know is one of the hardest spec in the arena, BUT as soon as i turned red all the damn hell breaks loose.
you can check DRs with an addon like TellMeWhen, but there's not too many videos discussing Cata WoW, maybe a few Swifty videos where he just talks about the basic stuff that Cata introduced, there's gonna be a lot more Cata-related content coming out as the expansion launch comes closer this year
Hey MEYTRIX I Love your videos! Would you expand more on Unholy DK / Resto Shaman in 2's? My buddy is going Unholy for Cata Classic and I'm debating between Resto Shaman and Holy Paladin for our 2's comp.
Both rsham and hpal are very comparable and great compositions for 2v2 so you wouldn’t go wrong with either one of them, both super defensive, sham can go s bit more offensive with the purges while hpal will be safer against big burst comps like mm hunt+sub rogue
@@MEYTRIX Thanks for the reply! Awesome I was hoping your measure of it would be quite equal. I seriously love me some Resto Shaman but haven't seen much of it in 2's comps myself.
@@glk96_ I am not sure, some of them are many years old, I assume you saw this one already: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YusVsPFMq5Y.htmlsi=swk6tsl1ttOAHZXn
Hey, I'm curious what some good comps would be with a balance druid. I'm new to game and balance looks really cool, But I don't wanna completely be locked out of arena with friends due to not having any synergies
Nerfed from almost every angle, less CC, weaker sht, it isn’t that much more different in playstyle, just less potent across the board, WotLK SP is like the most OP thing ever compared to Cata SP 🥲
ret and enh are gonna get smashed by a good hunt/rog in 2s, enh is way too squishy, holy paladin is the biggest counter for rog/hunt, comp like feral+holy paladin will survive everything, but even UDK+holy paladin is very good, the paladin provides so many immunities and on-demand instant healing that it is the best pick against these burst setup comps
Disc priest main here bit concerned about cata, good to hear that we have a couple S tier comps in 2s with rogue and feral, wb 3s though? Can it compete with resto sham/hpal in 3s? Any S tier comps that want a priest instead of an hpal or resto sham?
you could play many comps with a disc priest, ret+UDK+disc in rly good especially on the earlier PvP seasons, ret+MM hunt+disc, rogue+mage+disc, but even other popular comps, it's just more about peeling for the priest and getting the extra dispels or mana burns for a more offensive healer gameplay, and a lot of skill required, less room for mistakes
@@MEYTRIX Thanks a bunch bro for the reply. I love the high skill/offensive style. Glad to hear I won't be just gimping myself if I play it at a high level. Looking forward to Cata! and the 3s tier list when u drop it!
yea ret is the best, but just like you say - things like sub rogue or feral can still work very well with BM hunter, but it's gonna be worse than if they played with MM
it would be below all the other options listed for both in this video so not really a point in playing that comp, it's not terrible but there's many better options for both classes
Hey Meytrix do you have 3s tier list i cant see one on your channel What do you think about disc priest / rogue / Hunter For 3s thats what me and my friends might play and curious what your opinon on it is
Hey Tom, not yet but working on it, disc rogue hunter is amazing, probably S tier in my book, anything with MM hunt and Sub rogue is OP af, disc is a more squishy, offensive healer but the rogue is able to peel for him and protect it really well
Yo Diogo, if frost - Engineering, otherwise Tailoring best when you time the proc with Gargoyle and then you can go any prof that gives you +80 strength
Hey meytrix, is Vanguards Cleave r1 viable in Cataclysm for 3s? I get mixed responses from people with a lot of Cata xp. Some say yes and some say no. Also is it r1 viable in 2s?
Hey Brian, it definitely is r1 viable in both brackets, especially on the Vicious season before casters and rogues get their legendaries, then it becomes harder, and you can play it in 3s with r sham for more defense or disc priest for more offense and dispels
What would you recommend for pvp/pve? Feral/Balance or Shadow Priest? I'm between druid and priest... I have seen that for Tier S 2vs2 Feral is god... and priest only disci...
yea, for PvP feral would be the overall winner by far, it is also good for PvE but in PvE you usually lack ranged dpses more, so being sp or boomkin would grant you easier spots in raid groups, sp is one of the better performing casters on Cata
@@Xonathan100 there will be so many rets fighting for the raid spots too, solid class for PvE especially for its’s support - hand of freedom, bubbles etc, not so much for its dps, and rly good in any kind of pvp too
I would say it can go either way depending especially on how the feral/disc play it - if they do everything right then they could win it all but it takes extreeemely good players and as a composition has much higher skill ceiling than the other two
@@addwhiteboy same with weapons, sometimes you might be able to drop a weapon that is equivalent to the pvp weapon earlier than you can get the CP, otherwise not much of a benefit
C tier if I was being nice, it could work with skilled players and get you above 2k rating, but considering how many S tier comps a rogue can run - a boomkin would have a hard time looking for one unless you play with a friend
I wouldn't give them A, SP+ret maybe C tier, since ret already has so many options that are far better to play with than SP, disc+PvE ret is pretty good, but it's long AF games
Solid, it could easily go above 2k, there’s comps you will struggle to beat but both ret and feral are super-strong and work with almost anything, I’ve seen ppl as high as some 2.5k rating in 2s with that comp
blood DK + sub rogue can work pretty well in 2s, but I don't think anyone serious would want to play with you in 3s - nobody will attack you since you are the most bulky of the team and you also don't do much damage or CC
yep, only if you have a good friend rogue that wants to play with you, but on lower ratings, conquest capping etc you could play with a ret paladin or a feral druid - those both can survive a lot too and do pretty well, it's just not gonna be very competitive higher
@@davidslaninka28i know im late but im a high rated BDK (1975 max, top 800-900) and think BDK rogue is the ONLY thing that can work for BDK in 2s. BDK doesnt work in 3s and is maybe a B/c tier with a rogue in 2s
Nope, not very good, maybe a frost mage but the strength of rogue or feral paired with hunter comes from their slows and how much they can peel for the hunter, but it could be enough for lower rated casual games
Hmmm I guess I wanted to put r sham in S and h pal in A and thought I forgot to put r sham in the list when browsing through it so I put it along h pal again 😅👀 thanks for correcting me!
Solid option but usually only second in most comps to the other healer classes, but it can still work fine with any good dps - DK, warrior, warlock, mage
it's decent, not amazingly impressive but also not sht tier 😄 in 2s it's best with ret paladin, or with a holy paladin or disc priest if you can get some real good PvE parts...and in 3s as Turbo cleave with arms warrior, with ret paladin, and add a healer like disc priest or holy paladin ideally
not terrible, the feral can peel pretty well for the priest, not as well as a sub rogue would, and also disc+feral is one of the best comps, so for both - feral and sp - you have better comp options, but it would still do pretty well together too if you can play it properly
Overall - mage has more options to play with, also has 2 viable specs itself, but if you like to play SP - it’s still good in certain comps and situations
@@MEYTRIX yes, titles and mounts were also available in this bracket. Normally the percentage title thing and the bracket restriction removal were implemented in MoP. And thats when the arena title "inflation" began. Before that it was rank based in the realm pool. Whereas #1 titles really meant #1, meaning there were a maximum of 8 characters (3v3 and 5v5) per 10 realms or so with a specific season glad title.
I don't think I'd ever see it any high on Cata, so probably below C tier, both - feral and mage have so much better comps to play, but it still wouldn't be the worst, it's playable
Hey Diego, Whitemane Maelstrom is the only one I recommend, you also have the Path of War feature that grants you instant lvl 85 for PvP, I made videos about it too
OP AF! one of the best comps you can play the entire expansion, and you can either play it with r sham if you wanna be more defensive or with disc if you wanna be more offensive and dispel enemies
Tthx for fast respond. Also what do you think how new server will affect maelstorm? ANd how many players is on maelstorm and in Pvp can i play with oposite faction?@@MEYTRIX
@@Bloodhorus you have full crossfaction, PvP is super-active all the time, it is one of the most active servers in regards to PvP overall, I think the Deathwing realm will take away some players from Maelstrom, but not too many, especially the more competitive ppl will definitely go over to Desthwing for the fast progression
How important is PvE for PvP on maelstorm. For exmpl. i will take WOTKL, in wotkl you need ALOT of Pve for PvP. Is it same here? Im playing resto shammy and holy paladin how they are good in 3s? I saw in this video they are best for 2s@@MEYTRIX
You could use that instead of H pal/r sham, but then Cycloning makes the target immune to damage which multidoting strategy is pretty important for affliction
it's not terrible, but your CCs DR too much, facing any hunter/mage/ferals will completely ruin your games too (and those classes are some of the most popular ones), and there's so many much better comp options for rogue than going double rogue
pretty much anything with ret is at least ok, but it has better options, you can get above 2k with it, but there's at least 5 better options for the ret to play with
they basically sat down in the office one day and told themselves: "how can we completely fuk with destro lock and shadow priest players?" and they created the Cataclysm expansion
Enh shaman in cataclysm hits like a wet noodle compared to all other melees. No way that it with a healer is put above war/hpal or warlock with rsham/hpal or fire/disc. The latter 2 especially, fire/disc has a good match up against any melee/healer and most double dps comps and warlocks hard counter feral/disc and jungle that are ubiquitous. Thug is not really hard to play. If anything more straightforward than jungle or rm, to compare it to other big opener comps. Dk with disc and resto druid also doesn't deserve A tier at all. Heals aren't big enough for something as squishy against non-magic as DK and peels are way too few for healers as offensive as priest and druid. You should add mage/shadow priest, way more common than shadow/rogue on cata. Feral/mage is another good one, though underplayed. I played balance a lot, I'd definitely take mage or even warlock over ret. Fat chickens really need somebody with slows and big cc toolkit to have a lot of opportunities to use their own, since while they have a lot, none of it is really on demand. Big offheals to let the eclipse grow and spread dots everywhere for procs can be tempting but for that you might as well play with a healer.
You could switch tiers with some comps and nothing would happen but I have seen enhance higher more times than arms, but enh+ret is better than enh+healer I’d say, thug jungle RM - all harder comps, I am not comparing them between eachother, they are miles harder than any heal or regular melee cleaves…DK+disc also a rank one comp from the past, my experience…forgot about mage+sp, thanks for adding it…mage or even rogue with balance could be good, idk about warlock, I feel like they’d lack peels…thanks for the in-depth comment!
@@dragoljubmihajlovicc Then you must be used to some private server. Their only burst cd are wolves that bite for less than 1k on retail clips. Sometimes only just 200.
Did I forget to mention it? 👀 yes, very similar to disc+mage, you just do a bit more damage with sp obviously, and it’s frost mage that you need in this comp - otherwise melees would just destroy you in seconds, B tier comp
yea I don't think I could place any mage comp in S considering how many hunters there are in arenas which counter mages pretty hard, but that is not to say that an A or even B tier comp couldn't get all the way to rank 1, they can, it's just less likely than with the S tier comps
I don't remember ever seeing it played at higher level on Cata, I think there are many better options for both specs, but it could potentially be like a B tier comp maybe
It's terrible comp. MM Hunter has the worst sustain dmg of any spec that's at all played. Literally any other class is better with a healer than hunter in cataclysm. No dps/heal comp with half-decent players will die to it. If you look at any good 3s gameplay from a hunter, most of they do is CC, debuffing, switching pet and throwing around Sacrifice. Big part of why is because nothing besides Chimera Shot does any impressive dmg.
@@MEYTRIX So did I see enh/feral as rank1 in s9 of Atlantiss like 8 years ago. Doesn't mean anything. I'm not saying literally noone ever played it on high rating but the reason it's so rare it can't be even called a niche spec is because both of those specs fulfil very similar roles. If one of the two doesn't need to stun the kill target because the other one will cover that part, then their usefulness degrades a lot. Same can be said about peeling potential, both of them can do it a lot but neither needs it a lot themselves due to several defensives and passive healing, so either one is easily replaceable by a lot of other specs. Furthermore, if it's supposed to be S tier, then logically it needs to have at least some good match ups against other comps within that tier. And I really can't see even one. Being S tier spec alone doesn't make it automatically have good synergy with all other S tier specs.
