the hunger games is such an important triangle to me because of the fact that people rooted for gale. gale felt like he was owed a relationship with katniss, and that was the reason they never worked. katniss didnt like to owe people, she didnt want to be expected of anything, and peeta quite literally only wanted her to be happy. it baffles me when people say that they shouldnt have ended up together because if they loved eachother and he genuinely cared for her goals and interests shouldn't that be enough? maybe he isnt for everyone but he was the reason katniss let herself love and trust that people can be inherently good even after experiencing what she did. Maybe its because i never liked gale, i think they are both important characters but it was clear to me from day one that gale never stood a chance

I feel like you're presentation of the hunger games's love triangle (Gale and Katniss side) is backwards. Katniss didn't have a crush on Gale, while he didn't notice her. He had a crush on her, never told her before she went to the game, and she was not thinking of love or a crush with him.

Admittedly, I just read the first Hunger Games for the first time so I haven’t read the rest of the series, but Katniss gave me ace energy the entire book. I felt like Collins wanted us to root for one of the boys, but she didn’t seem interested in either, or really romance in general. Maybe that changes in the later two books, though. In the meantime, I’m team Katniss.

People have already said Jem x Tessa x Will (Infernal Devices) but you said polyamorous with Iron Widow and my mind IMMEDIATELY went to Kieran x Mark x Christina from the Dark Artifices trilogy by Cassandra Clare. They may have all started out as secondary characters, especially in the first book, but by book three we got POVs from all of them and they were pretty much protagonists in their own right, I’d argue as much as Emma and Julian themselves.

Team Maybe Date Outside the Family xD killed me lol I honestly don't know if I've ever enjoyed a love triangle that much. I recently read The Hedgewitch of Foxhall and I feel like the the love triangle in there was mostly like......"Fine, it's for the plot" but I feel like that is giving it too much credit. The book was five stars to me but the love triangle just felt...meh. Plot device I guess lol.

The love triangle of the Star Wars original trilogy has one of the worst conclusion, instead of deciding that the princess will simply prefer a guy over the main character they added a twist that added some plot holes and that is only used to conclude the love triangle in a lazy way, and the love triangle is not that important to the story

To be honest, I found the development of Iron Widow's relationships to be somewhat mid (?). Spoilers ahead! From the beginning of the book, we're in the protagonist's perspective, and it's clear that Li Shimin behaves differently compared to the rumors. On the first night he spends with Zeitan, he shares his past with her, but Zeitan's opinion of him doesn't change at all. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I felt that their relationship could have been better if we saw a real change in Zeitan's behavior towards him over time. It would have been more impactful if, once they genuinely became friends, Zeitan opened up more about herself. Additionally, the pacing of their relationship development felt rushed. Instead of allowing for a gradual build-up of trust and understanding, their connection seemed to advance abruptly after certain key moments. This rapid progression undermined the potential depth of their bond. It would have been more engaging to witness a slower, more nuanced transformation in their dynamic. Moreover, the complexity of their individual backstories and traumas deserved more exploration. Delving deeper into how their past experiences shape their actions and interactions could have enriched their relationship and provided a more satisfying emotional payoff. I haven't read the second book yet as it's not available in France, so perhaps my opinion will change once I read it. However, based on the first book alone, I believe that a more gradual and detailed development of their relationship would have made for a stronger narrative (Sorry I yap a lot 😅)

Have to say, I kind of hated the end of Hunger Games. Like I get that Peeta was the person who understood Katniss's experience best but it always felt icky. Like the capitol had won in the end, because they got the couple they wanted.
