Also, welcome to just growing up. Was there anyone who wasn't made fun of at some point for something? I was unpopular throughout school, but my little sister was in the popular group in her grade, and I remember her coming home crying because she made a "B" on a test that her friends all made an "A" on, and they made fun of her. My point is, there are different levels, but that EVERYONE gets picked on or made fun of at some point, and some people get it worse than others. I just can't with the Tall Girl movies.
its truly in the category where it seems too good to have been made by netflix. Like if you told me it was an indie film i would believe you (film geeks come @ me i dont care)
I know that criticizing Tall Girl is like beating the deadest of horses at this point, but they really do make her seem marginalized with no community that she can relate to. Like she would be average height on any serious volleyball team and would gain confidence to boot. How did the writers miss this?
@@isabella79282 It's also just such a bad insult. Teenagers are the most brutal people on the planet and that's what they came up with? Arguably the most unrealistic part of the movie, and that's saying a lot.
As someone who hasn't seen Work it but is a classical music nerd... "Everyone plays the cello." No??? If anything, everyone plays the VIOLIN. That actually might have gotten a chuckle out of the strings playing viewers. The only way they could have missed more was if she said "everyone plays the viola."
The Half of It gave me unrealistic expectations that I would someday be driven to a secret hot springs while Sharon Van Etten's 'Seventeen' plays in the background, which in my opiniyon, is simultaneously a slay and asdfghjkl
Netflix has disappointed me so many times that I watched Set It Up purely for the cast and fully expected it to be cringy. 25 min in and I said out loud to myself "wait... this actually is good... wtf"
Before the Kissing Booth 3 released, I made a bet with a couple friends about how it would end (winner gets free dinner or whatever). The bets made were: 1) Elle chooses Noah 2) Elle chooses the POC option 3) Elle chooses herself I didn't expect to win but I did
I personally looooove Someone Great. One of my top tier comfort films - despite some so-so dialogue I think it's a really beautiful representation of female friendships and the complex emotions of a breakup (the scene near the end when she's on the train always makes me cry). Also tbh as someone who is nearing 30 and who is very much in the midst of 'changing seasons of life' I'm probably pretty much dead centre in the target demographic. This movie made me feel SEEN but also targeted 💀
I think that movie is so realistic, you know. It's not about happy endings, sometimes relationships end and that's it, we have to move on. Even Taylor Swift wrote a song about that movie, that's how great it is
I watched it once and couldn’t rewatch it. I only remember crying watching it and felt like I couldn’t do it again lol. Also, movies are better the 1st time you watch it, so I’m not risking it
Omg I’m so glad that you put Set it Up in the first row bc I can’t stress how much I LOVE that movie. I just feel like it gives me an early 2000s vibe but it’s also so unapologetically 2018 at the same time. It’s great.
me personally i loved To All the Boys i’ve loved before and my only criticism is that the characters are somewhat bland but me personally Peter (specifically in the first movie) is my ideal man and i feel like Laura is very relatable to me in terms of her introversion, it is different in the sense that i suffer from introversion so much it’s a literal disorder but this character helped me understand that really the worst that can happen and that’s what happened to her but it ended up ok. the final scene at the end had me crying and i’m so glad she doesn’t end up with the boy next door in this movie (i choose to ignore the other 2 movies exist tbh)
How did your brain not turn to a pile of mush after watching all of these? Tell me your ways! My brain cells never replenished after watching just 20 minutes of Love Hard
I actually thought in "Look both ways" the route where she kept the baby was the better option because she still managed to launch her career, become a mom and get with the guy she wanted. It seems to me like a better future than the exact same one, but without the kid. Just my opinion though, totally respect it if that's not what others want.
Listening to all the plots of these movies in a row, why do half of them have the exact same plot? Two people pretending to be dating for some reason, only to end up falling in love. Also I think the kissing booth 2 deserves a tier of its own. It literelly takes the first movie, which was pretty bad, and just makes everything worse
love hard and holidate can't be on the same tier. holidate was and still is my comfort netflix romcom aside from set it up but its mid at best. love hard on the other hand... what the fuck was that even about
Set it up has finally put a name to something that has plagued me all my life and no one understood: "the over-dick around thing". I am ready early, I think I have time to waste, and then I get late because of it. Ever since I discovered that word, I have been using it everyday. And for that I will be eternally greatfull! 😅
Hey, please consider giving Isi und Ossi a watch. It's a really nice German rom com. The best part is that they made a young adult Rom com with a classic plot device but it still delivered a fresh, original and funny story. Foreign language films are truly great for refueling trust in modern day films.
Girl I LOVE your videos I get so excited when they come out! As another young South Asian woman I love hearing your opiniyons :) You have awesome commentary, a great sense of humor, and such a calming voice to listen to!! Also your wall tapestry is my laptop case so clearly we share great taste LOL. Keep making amazing content
I kinda like that the first movie of 'To all the boys' is kinda high. Idk why but this one comforts me sm Also I'm happy to find really good movies in this tier list cause I'm far from romcoms but now I'm in this sorta mood and I really wanna watch smth like it
I agree on look both ways, they could’ve delivered it better cause they made it seem as if having a kid is the most depressing thing that can happen to you when it’s really the opposite lol like it’s not the end of the world🙄especially when there’s other options too like they make it seem as if she had no way to escape pregnancy and her life is over which lowkey pissed me off ngl lol
I really want to know your take on Crazy rich asians bc some people say its good, its classic. And my friend said its a bad plot so anyone out there how is it really??
Wait freaky Friday director directed he’s all that? That’s crazy. Should’ve just gotten the director of the original. Also pretty sure producers and writers are a big part of the making of mean girls aka Tina fey and the writers/producers just weren’t doing it in this one…not to mention a clearly inexperienced tiktoker attempting to act so…there’s other factors to consider when making an actually terrible movie lol could never compare to mean girls or freaky friday either, they’re too good of movies to be associated with it lol should be a crime it came out in the first place
Look both ways-didn’t see it, but if the reality where she’s not pregnant is slightly better even if they intended to present the idea that it works out both ways…in any case I don’t see the problem with that-it’s realistic. It’s honest. There’s no reality where things are better with kids than without, even if you can be okay & happy in either reality, let’s be real, having kids fundamentally takes away opportunities and things in life which make it that much harder to truly live your best life.
It annoyed me so much that they race swapped John Ambrose. I'm so sick of the POC love interests seen as backups plus I thought the original casting for John Ambrose was pitch perfect and apparently they never even told the actor he was fired he just found out on Twitter
Can someone tell me the diff in the plot on the kissing boot Trilogy and to all the boys ...except the ending ..I mean WHAT the hell ...they should've atleast released them at different times..lol
also i have a letterboxd review of purple hearts saying "the romance wasnt good enough to make me forget that he was a misogynistic republican, worked on cassie but not on me"
this channel is my new obsession!! love your takes! i have this thing with a friend of mine that we meet to watch bad rated netflix rom movies and now our list just got longer hehe if you want a movie that doesnt make any sense and its terrible to watch, check out through my window it feels like there are four different movies happening at once
i’m binge watching ur chanel and every time i see one of your videos i get in awe with how beautiful you are 😭 not only beautiful but also funny!!! loving the chanel ❤
