Agree with everything you’ve said Nick. May put some of the jury’s out in poor tho.

Mcatee is just too much of a luxury player for a team like us who were low on cofidence and stuck to the bottom....needed grafters and peoole to put themselves about and he often went missing when it got tough

I thought Wilder was a mistake. What were they thinking? He is very negative with his tactics. Makes defensive substitutions. Bournemouth away, Fulham hone QPR home to name a few as he ignores a simple fact. We can't defend very well so defending leads is asking for trouble. Reactive rather than proactive substitutions. An OK transfer window, but I count 4 strikers gone and only 2 signed. Moore and Campbell. Kept hold if Hamer, Arblaster and Anel fortunately. I have suitably low expectations this season and definitely can't see automatic promotion and would be pleasantly surprised if we make the play offs.

Good grief, Vincent Kompany is off to Bayern Munich! What next, Paul Heckinbottom to Real Madrid and Rob Edwards to PSG? It seems that relegation is now a positive on the CV 😂

Disagree with you on lots of those, but the biggest 2 are... 1st Ivo... bringing in a keeper that hasn't played much football, then putting him behind a defence that look like a scared rabbit facing car headlights, the lad never stood a chance. As a defender, you should know, a keeper is only as good as his defence, if that doesn't exist (like ours).....? 2nd (and i'll get slagged, but who cares?) is Wilder.... belongs in "what were they thinking?" couple of million payoff for Hecky and bring in someone that made zero difference, stupid idea. The old adage, never hire an ex manager certainly applies, sorry, I'm with Warnock on that one, poor managerial style, don't trust him, don't like him (and I went to school with him).

Judging Curtis for a cameo appearance in a poor team v Everton isn’t fair to him or the club , its a big step up from LOI to premier league, he’s been ok in the U21’s scored other week as well , give the lad a chance to develop like Everton did to DCL

Put McAtee in underwhelming for me. He had a minor hot streak. Beside that he's been poor to anonymous, especially when we haven't got the ball. He makes no effort to track back and defend. As for Wilder, how can he not be poor? We've had more humiliating batterings under him than any other manager. We are a football embarrassment and the piss poor defending at set pieces is inexcusable. Add to that teams come to Bramall Lane expecting to win, and worse than that our own fans turn up at Bramall Lane expecting to lose. Jury's Out? Poor, beyond words. Absolutely dire. I do agree about One though. This kid has huge potential but he needs a loan move, he's not Championship standard yet, but he can be with the right move and experience.
@philippepalmer2968
@philippepalmer2968 4 месяца назад
not having Tommy Doyle alongside him on and off the field was in my opinion the reason why McAtee had a poor season compared to last year.It was a massive strategic mistake by the board and Heckie not buying him especially when you consider he went to Wolves for £5m,an absolute bargain.You could tell and he more or less admitted it in his last game & week for us,he wanted to stay with us rather than being moved on.
@SheffUnitedWay

I can’t disagree with the wilder comments but left him as jury’s out because I desperately want him to orchestrate our bounce back.
@SheffUnitedWay
@SheffUnitedWay 4 месяца назад
I don’t think we’d have ever got Doyle for £5 as it was part of the Nunes deal but maybe £8m or £9 could have done the trick if City weren’t trying to include him in the deal.
@philyates7670

@@SheffUnitedWay I get that, but weren't you judging these as signings and how they did, not the potential of what they might do?
@philyates7670
@philyates7670 4 месяца назад
@@philippepalmer2968Doyle wouldn't come as he didn't agree to the wage percentage drop if we were relegated. He wanted to come and we could afford the fee. This was the only stumbling block.

Way too soft on Trusty and Souza, those two along with Anel are right at the core of why this season has been such a nightmare. They've been diabolical Good list otherwise
@olivergwynne5607

One positive I could give to united's plan this year was that despite big injuries, we have largely been able to field an 11 where everyone was playing in a natural position. No baldock in at left centre back. In fact some games we have even been able to debate who should get a start. With a lot of these signings I could 100% see the logic at the time and they just haven't worked out. I know it sounds stupid to say, but I would bet if we were doing better as a group, more of these signings would worked. I think we have looked for hidden gems abroad and found that there there's a gap in talent with the English leagues and should have instead focused on lower championship and league one talent. I do think there has to be criticism of the risk averse nature of our strategy and the recruitment team, as we are now with a threadbare squad despite 3/5 years of premier league money. Investments in the training ground should have come a lot sooner and would have prevented key injuries and helped to attract players. As a club we have never been good at spending money and we should have looked to make a move for someone from Southampton or Bournemouth with experience of building on a budget.

I absolutely agree that if the team were picking up points Archer and Vini would have been much better. Both to me don’t seem to try and drag their team through the bad times unlike players we’ve previously had.

Vini Souza is the only one who I disagree with he for me should be in the poor category but each has their own opinion mate
@ttblade
@ttblade 4 месяца назад
Very generous assessments, probably because we have such low expectations as Blades. Taken off my Rose tinted glasses and Wilder = poor; McAtee = poor; Trusty = poor; Archer = poor; Holgate = poor; the rest as they are above. That would put 7 in the poor category which would better explain how bad we were. Only Hamer and Diaz can be pleased with how they performed, none of the others would get a kick in any other Prem' team, including in Luton's or Burnley's teams. I think they should all (barring those two) be ashamed of their own contributions.

Disagree with Vini tbh, should be in decent at least. We have criminally misused him as some sort of deep playmaker which Arblaster is built for but then play Arblaster as the deepest midfielder. Pretty much every game we picked up points in this season, especially Luton (A) and Brentford (H) had Vini playing well and not being left completely on an island to defend 3 players at once. When Fulham, Milan or whoever gets him and he's good I don't want to see any "why couldn't he do that for us".
@SheffUnitedWay

Pep wouldn't have carried on playing Souza after he slated the team publicly, he wouldn't have carried on playing Anel after his silly red card against forest and he wouldn't have played holgate again after the Brighton game. Probably wouldn't have brought him in in the first place. Any manager that feels the need to mention that other managers wouldn't have done any better in the same position as themselves this season in their post match interviews has delusions of grandeur about their own ability

Vini deserves plenty of credit. Offered very little with the ball but as a cdm for a team as poor as us his job was always going to be making tackles. With the 3rd most tackles in the prem this season i would say he is 1 of,if not the only player who actually did their job this season
