Welcome back to Rail The Gutter, Gutter-er's? lol
Today I got a semi detailed review on my Tifosi Aethons that I've owned since roughly June/2019. Figured I'd do this video because the cycling world (like many others) has a tendency of just making a crap ton of products, and a lot are expensive at times, and sometimes, there are just so many options that it's difficult to even make choices. Personally I chose these because I own just some plain Oceano Lincolns (look like Wayfarer's), and some knock-off Jawbreakers (don't judge me, lol), and figured I'd get some dedicated cycling glasses that can withstand the perils of time and space, and aren't going to cost an arm and leg to own, because if you can't buy it twice, then what's the point right?
Why worry on buying some super pricey sunglasses that yeah, look cool, but once they snap, it's all over. Or that one piece that broke isn't cheap. Why worry over that? I see no point in that. Of course, that's just my opinion, lol.
I like a brand that isn't super known, but has credibility, and that's where the Tifosi Aethon comes in.
The Nitty Gritty:
1. $69.99+tax (CA) = $76.60 (not bad at all for the all black version)
2. Interchangeable parts (super easy and fast to break down the entire sunglasses and clean or replace something).
3. Inexpensive parts (you can buy almost every single part cheaply, except for the Ear Arms, might have to call Tifosi on that one, lol). However, my guess is that the arms are probably like $15-20? Which means you can rebuild everything for the same price, or customize it your own way (of course price changes a lot if you have a Fototec lens ($49.99)).
4. The Aethons were some of the only shades I liked besides the Alliant & Davos, which I might still get? (I smell another video in the works already, lol).
5. In 1 whole year, I've only managed to lightly scratch the AC Red lens, and that was my own fault (snagged it on something, but I can't even see it when riding with them on). All the parts are almost new still. So all I can say is: DURABLE!!!!!
6. STYLE. Not all cycling glasses look nice, lol. Like any daily sunglasses for driving and etc, they don't all look nice, but if you like them, then who cares? But for me, I liked these because they got some nice wrap around style going on, and the clear lenses look pretty bad ass with just the black parts on it, lol.
Again in a world where we will pay a lot of money for some super expensive frames, I'd rather go for a cheaper one, that's just as durable (or arguably more than some of its expensive counterparts), and has customization options, and has a good style, but to each their own!
I hope you guys found this video informative and remember to: LIKE/SUBSCRIBE/SHARE/COMMENT (maybe I forgot something, or didn't know something, I'm all for constructive criticism!).
Till next time folks!

I got davos and gotta say, they wrap my face so well, but i think i will return them, cause one piece lenses take so much space to carry spares around. You practically need 2 tubes equal space, to carry spare lense. With older, less popular these days, separate exchangable lenses, you can find a reasonable size box, and carry them stacked on top of another, taking much less room in a much more practical package.

I personally carry two lenses literally all the time and they don’t really take up any space. But I do carry it in a fanny pack that I have on me all the time to avoid having it in my jersey, but I understand the limited space on your part. But if it works it works! 🙌🏻

@@railthegutter I'm surprised you do it this way. But I've seen a video with a guy saying he clips the glasses pouch to the shorts with spares inside. And he was riding off-road. Maybe tourism. I don't mind falling off the bike from time to time, and care about my stuff quite a lot, last glasses served me for ~15years. So I can't imagine risking breaking spare lenses during minor fall. Saying that though, I might loose them on first week if I'm unlucky.... I generally no longer carry anything on me, even wallet can be damaged by the sweat. I also find tifossi have way too long ear pieces, they tend to collide with helmet's rear strap support. They didn't change this feature for 20years, so probably treat them as their design feature, and maybe aim at people riding with no helmet or with only shallow road models?

Love mine. Great fit, and the ability to buy a replacement for every part is a plus. You can also order directly from their site and do full custom colors from a decent color selection.

I agree! Super comfortable frames, and the ability to customize them before they ship is definitely a win on Tifosi's part. Ordering directly on their site is also very simple and straight forward. Thank you for watching and hope to see you at the next one!

Welcome! I’ve used a crappy helmet from Amazon (think it was from Basecamp?), I have used two Bell Helmets (Falcon and Stratus w/Mips), and honestly, I haven’t had a problem wearing these below the helmets brim. They do wrap around your face a tiny bit for a snug fit and that helps keep them up. I personally wear a M/L helmet usually as well (54-56cm usually). I hope this helps!

Bro, what a hollow review. You owe me 9:16 minutes. 8 minutes of talking about specs that everyone can read on Amazon, the last minute I hoped to hear some relevant information and actual review after a year of use but nope there's nothing. Thank you for nothing.

Hmmm, well there isn’t anything really bad that I can say about them because they have worked for me. That’s I think my entire point. But if there is something that you’re unsure about, you could just ask me? Lol Glad to help! 🤘🏻
