Welcome back to Rail The Gutter, Gutter-er's? lol
Today I got a semi detailed review on my Tifosi Aethons that I've owned since roughly June/2019. Figured I'd do this video because the cycling world (like many others) has a tendency of just making a crap ton of products, and a lot are expensive at times, and sometimes, there are just so many options that it's difficult to even make choices. Personally I chose these because I own just some plain Oceano Lincolns (look like Wayfarer's), and some knock-off Jawbreakers (don't judge me, lol), and figured I'd get some dedicated cycling glasses that can withstand the perils of time and space, and aren't going to cost an arm and leg to own, because if you can't buy it twice, then what's the point right?
Why worry on buying some super pricey sunglasses that yeah, look cool, but once they snap, it's all over. Or that one piece that broke isn't cheap. Why worry over that? I see no point in that. Of course, that's just my opinion, lol.
I like a brand that isn't super known, but has credibility, and that's where the Tifosi Aethon comes in.
The Nitty Gritty:
1. $69.99+tax (CA) = $76.60 (not bad at all for the all black version)
2. Interchangeable parts (super easy and fast to break down the entire sunglasses and clean or replace something).
3. Inexpensive parts (you can buy almost every single part cheaply, except for the Ear Arms, might have to call Tifosi on that one, lol). However, my guess is that the arms are probably like $15-20? Which means you can rebuild everything for the same price, or customize it your own way (of course price changes a lot if you have a Fototec lens ($49.99)).
4. The Aethons were some of the only shades I liked besides the Alliant & Davos, which I might still get? (I smell another video in the works already, lol).
5. In 1 whole year, I've only managed to lightly scratch the AC Red lens, and that was my own fault (snagged it on something, but I can't even see it when riding with them on). All the parts are almost new still. So all I can say is: DURABLE!!!!!
6. STYLE. Not all cycling glasses look nice, lol. Like any daily sunglasses for driving and etc, they don't all look nice, but if you like them, then who cares? But for me, I liked these because they got some nice wrap around style going on, and the clear lenses look pretty bad ass with just the black parts on it, lol.
Again in a world where we will pay a lot of money for some super expensive frames, I'd rather go for a cheaper one, that's just as durable (or arguably more than some of its expensive counterparts), and has customization options, and has a good style, but to each their own!
I hope you guys found this video informative and remember to: LIKE/SUBSCRIBE/SHARE/COMMENT (maybe I forgot something, or didn't know something, I'm all for constructive criticism!).
Till next time folks!
