I use Aethon too with red lenses. It's my favorite pair so far. The brow bar helps prevent sweat in my lenses when riding in the drops for a while. Because my Ebay Rk Bros sunnies broke after a year of use or has lense discoloration on mirrored lenses. So Tifosi has been my new go-to. Great review 👏 I just bought a pair of transition lenses with the "Rail" model so I hope those are good for me too. Tried the "Sledge " because they look good, but unfortunately rub my higher cheekbones a bit much to be comfortable in them.
very cool. just bought my aethon yesterday in white w red lenses. and 2 pairs of different lenses in the box. thanks for the tutorial of how to change the arms. I was unaware of that part. liked and subscribed. kudos and Aloha from Hawaii 🤙
I purchased these a few months ago and my only regret is I didn’t get the fototech lens! Will be getting one soon. Thanks for the video from a follow Texan
The Fototec lens is a great option, especially for a "second" pair of riding eyewear. It's so nice to start or end a ride in the dark and be able to see the road, but not get blinded when the sun is up.
I recently got a set of Tifosi Jet sunglasses with reader lenses. The frameless design is even lighter, if that helps for running... (Review coming soon.)
Thanks for the review. Do these fit close to the face, or do they sit away from the eyes a bit? I have long eyelashes and find that many sunglasses sit too close to my eyes.
The quality is very good. I will admit that the high-end (Luxottica) brands like Oakley do have finer finishes. But Tifosi provides a killer deal: durable, good-looking glasses with great optics, at about 1/3rd the asking price of the "big name" monopoly eyewear brands.
Thank you for the review.. I guess it doesn't have polarization..(?) But did you experience any glare effects (eg. off car windshields or other reflective surfaces on the road while riding?
The Aethon is not polarized. So yes, they are not as great at reducing glare as a polarized lens would be, but I haven't had any major problems so far. Tifosi does have other styles that are available with polarized lenses.
If I remove the brow bar, the lens of my Aethon does not touch my forehead. But I think it will depend on the shape of the wearer's face and the position set for the flexible nose pieces (bridge.)
Hi I have a pair of Tifosi Tempt glasses and the lenses are a little bit scratched now so I wanted to get some new Fototec lenses. I mainly cycle during the day both on road and off road sometimes through wooded areas etc so I think the 'Light Night Fototec' lenses will be OK but if it's very sunny will they offer decent protection? Maybe the 'Smoke' lenses would be better? I wouldn't really be using them at night though. Any advice? Thanks
Hi Phil! If you are going to use them during the day, I would suggest you go with the "Smoke" Fototec lenses. The "Light Night" lenses are almost perfectly clear unless they are exposed to some solar UV light. I pick the Light Night Fototec for rides that start before dawn or end after sunset. But any other time (i.e. during daylight) I use a darker pair. As of now, I don't have the Smoke Fototec, so I can't give you any direct feedback on them, but for sure, the Light Night is a very clear lens with basically no tint.
On the Aethon, the bridge (nose piece) is attached to the bottom plastic piece, so you have to use it. But Tifosi does offer several similar styles that are either a frameless "shield," or a half-shield with only a frame (or partial frame) across the top. For example, the Brixen, Tsali, and Slice are frameless; the Sledge Lite and Alliant are half-shield. The Alliant is probably closest in style to the Aethon: www.tifosioptics.com/product/alliant-gunmetal-light-night-fototec/
@@BikesBlades sure, thanks. I found that later. Sledge Lite is probably a bit too large for me. I had similar bigger glasses, and they were touching my helmet all the time ... (too big/tall above nose piece). Tsali is way smaller (will fit), but it could be just 5-7mm taller :)
