As February comes to an end, so does our series on TIG Brazing Copper and Brass. In this episode we look at how to weld (heli braze) Brass to Brass. When you are welding this material remember to use proper safety procedures, as Brass put off lots of fumes.

spelunkerd, we originally planned on doing these as a series in February ans see how they were received. We've had a lot a positive response, so you can plan on seeing more in the future. I can tell you that the next two heli brazing episodes will be on joining copper / brass to steel, bc we've had the specific requests, but we will add real world projects to our "to shoot" list. Before we release these, we have some prior requests coming out first. As Always, Thanks for watching TIG Time!

Hey Mr. Tig what alloy is this? C360? C360 has a lot more issues with welding than C693 for example. Specificity here might help people pursuing this same kind of thing! Appreciate ya!

I set my Miller syncrowave to 120 amps DC and welded two pieces of brass together beautifully. Amperage confirmed 120

I wish you had emphasized the zinc vapor coming off the part is poisonous, so good ventilation is more than just a good idea, it's an absolute must. I would have like to have seen you wearing a respirator helmet to set a good example. In the 1990s I (just once) oxy-acetylene brazed a cracked bronze backflow preventer valve body to the galvanized steel pipe it was attached to as an emergency repair. The pipe's zinc coating caught fire and burned blueish giving off thick white smoke. Not good ventilation and I was sick for days.

You neglected to say what the amperage setting is, and if the electrode is -ve or +ve DC!!

Although this sounds like the end of your planned series, it would be great if you were to continue. You could look for real world examples where you need to use these techniques for practical repairs....

What was your actual amperage for this pass? Was it really 120a or was it far less?

What are the numbers on that catalog page you show in the beginning of the video? Is that the psi tensile strength of the various brazing alloys?

Hi how are you going to weld the 3/4 square brass pipe the pipe is in casting
@lucuslanders8033
@lucuslanders8033 7 лет назад
Do you get a lot of distortion in the brass using this method? I often torch braze large brass sheets and the brass always ends up warping quite a bit. Im curious if this more localized heating keeps that down.

I wanted to weld brass . I have a TIG arc welding machine. Tell me the filler rod to be used for this purpose. I tried to fill brass casting defects like porosity with this welding. But failed. The problem i face is that welding doesnot stick to the base material and is removed easily. Please help to join brass materials and also how to use this fill brass casting defects

Hi Mr Tig I'm making chastity belts for my harem of bitches and i want to keep them pure to me, Im thinking of using stainless, but i hear copper might be better for it's antibacterial properties Is it possible to fuse copper and stainless together using perhaps some intermedium metal to join the two. Thanks for your great videos.
