To all the people taking this test; remember to use your time. You don't need to rush. Go over your mental checklist, get comfortably positioned and do your dry runs. Use all the time you have, it's not a production weld. Thanks for another solid video Jody. Wish more people liked and commented on your videos. These are priceless teaching videos.

I hate my tig finger. It makes me want to spend more time welding. I already spend too much time welding and the tig finger makes it easier and more comfortable to weld especially in those times when things get hot. Please stop making this as my family life is not going to pot. I just spend too much time welding now that I have the tig finger. OK......I really love it and recommend it to anyone who welds.

Tig finger by far one of the best things I've used in my welding career. You can use it for every process, any metal type and all around saves your finger from being burned while freehanding. I recommend a lot of friends to try it and their skills have improved as well as mine. Jody you the man, thank you for all the tips you've given everyone. It's been a very good tool before I take a welding test, just pull out the phone and look up a video on the and bam, I've got a job. So once again thank you for the well designed products and the mentioning of the Ck stubby kits. They've all help me and a lot of viewers out. So thank you Jody, much appreciated!

Get you a tig finger! Buy the pack. It's the only way to go. It takes many many months to wear one out. It's nice cuz you can put them around your work area and always have one in reaching distance! Jody, thank you for another great video. I heard you make a comment about you once did boiler work in another video. I understand that R-Stamp repair and alteration work is a review of quality control, documentation, and compliance. But can you shed some light on R-Stamp welding, the process, and your experience with it in a video?

I wish I had the good equipment you have, when I first started Tig welding , the knowledge of the technique of walking the cup etc , my first 6G test was on steel six inches sch 80 no backing ring and I think I was lucky to pass it as they just come out the office and told me no practice time, I have to take the test to be a grade A mechanic in the boilermakers job. I free handed it and was it tiring, but I was in good physical shape in those days. They didn't allow wide weaving like you were doing, but I passed the bend tests what a relief. Your are very good at what you do a person can learn a lot from you. I have since taken many tests both pipe and steel in all positions , even in xray work. I'm retired now but have lots of equipment and I build and repair a lot of stuff and having a lot of fun.

Bought a couple of TIG fingers to weld up a battery frame on an electric motorcycle. They are absolute lifesavers. Bunch of awkward angles on 1" Al box section, and it gets hot quick. Took the bike to the TT zero at the Isle of man, and our team placed third. The welds held, so I guess I didn't screw it up too much :)

Tig finger works great! I personally prefer walking it no matter what unless it's smaller then 2in. It's more consistent walking and way easier not to dip your tungsten or even slip off the pipe if your finger isn't planted properly: both are great techniques, I'm not just 100% comfortable with fingering/freehand like Jody the welding sensei

I love my tight finger. My coworkers call it a cock sock. I've been through 3 of them but I use them for tig, might, and stick. I looked some up online but didn't know if they where your product I guess they would all work but I like your welding videos and want to help support what your doing. Also I just took a job building 300 ft diameter storage tanks most of the welding is jet rod on floor sheets and flux vertical. The fcaw 0.45 wire 75/25 gas is 5ft sections up hill. I didn't see if you had any videos on tricks to setting the machine and completing a 3G fcaw plate test. Really I would like to see how you would run it. Maybe pick up some more techniques from you. I tig weld stainless pipe parts for use in power plants, they have to be full penetration and are anywhere from 1/2" to 10" diameter, schedule 40 to 160, with the majority being between 3/4" and 2" dia. Sch. 40. Jodi's tig finger is absolutely essential for what I do. It saves me so much time that it can pay for itself in just a few welds, and it lasts for months. I'll keep buying them till I stop welding.

Tig finger is great. As all test, pretest information checking double check test material to be clean and kept clean, stainless steel kept clean, if your wire brushing if stainless steel I've all was gone with a stainless brush ,aluminium I've always found that stainless Steel wire brush is the way not a steel wire brush. Pre preparation is the key try to keep calm, You can have a good relationship with test examiner. 😊 Good look to all out there Dave wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Just revisiting this video. I will add a comment about the TIG finger, I use mine allot for stick welding if you can believe it. I have a TIG Finger! My rationale in buying one was that it was inexpensive, and it couldn't hurt to have it handy. Well, it works incredibly well. I used to handle red hot ceramic art pieces with gloves made of the same material, so I knew it would work. In places where I'd feel heat within seconds and have to adjust, I feel no heat whatsoever with the TIG Finger; in fact, I've never felt the heat come through when using the TIG Finger (not at all surprised given the material it is made of). Moral of the story: it's inexpensive, it's convenient, and it works, so why not have a few in the inventory?

I use a TIG Finger every day. It's saved a lot of fingers and lot of projects as well. I use it for every kind of welding (TIG or not) where I might need to prop and eliminate the need to rush through things. I wear a TIG finger out every couple of months and I'm very lucky to know of a good source for new ones. I've even taped a TIG finger inside the elbow of my welding jacket to make a nice prop while stick welding.

Hello. I haven't welded in 3 yrs, but for 5 yrs i Tig welded in a production atmosphere. I welded many pipes in many different positions. But I never got certified. Right now I would like to get a job as a welder again. But before I do I wanna be certified. When I go to my test, do I need to cut the pipe, fit it, and tac weld it? I know it's probably a stupid question but I just want to know the steps that I need to know. Thanks

My TIG finger is the ticket. I use it for Everything especially for Plasma cutting. If you've ever done any work on aluminum, you will get to know how hot metal can get really fast. The TIG finger is the only way to go... too bad they don't make complete gloves with the same material. I'd buy a few pair of them.

How do you know if he has carpel tunnel or not? Not that you made a bad point, but I've been doing it for 25 years without swinging my arm and no Carple tunnel. Maybe you can have a bad shoulder from a repetitive arm swing? It's just my opinion. But I thing swinging your arm is more work, and using your wrist creates a nicer and tighter bead. But everyone has there own technique.

I production weld single phase pad mount transformers with mig. For some of the welds my fingers were getting pretty hot, or I had to stop and take time to put the guide on the nozzle. This takes time as well as it snags on the tank and gets in the way. I got a the finger and purposely made a pass with my finger on the backside of a fillet weld. I never felt any heat through the glove with a 36" pass, the metal was 12gauge mild. We wear stick gloves and without the tig finger if my fingers are even close to the backside of the weld, they're cooking within 1-2 inches.

I bought a couple tig fingers about a month ago, but the gloves that my work gives me are incredibly oversized for my hands and rather thick anyway, so it's difficult for me to get the finger onto the glove unless I just wear regular work gloves, and then it actually works great. I wish I had bought the XL finger at the same time though. If your gloves are thick or oversized, get the XL tig finger, better to be safe than sorry when it arrives and you find out it's too small to fit properly on your glove

The TIG finger is it. Night and day difference not only on pipe but with all welding - if you can prop you are steadier and if you're steadier you make better welds. Also it protects your gloves making them last way longer and saving you money. I bet it doubles the life of a pair of gloves - or at least keeps them comfortable and loose for a lot longer.

If I don't get my tig-finger out with the rest of my gear when I'm starting on something, I always reach a point that I have to stop to get it. It's simple and works great!

Ive been using my tig finger for about 5 months now. It helps for a little while but by the time im done with the hot pass i start feeling that heat through it. So i throw a cup in the tig finger.
