Thumbs up for saving the day. You are 100% right about blaming the people that put him there, there's a well established system for approving pipe welders...
@@harleyme3163 Heliarc is simply tig welding using helium which isn't done very much these days, some helium in the mix is sometimes used but rarely 100% helium.
Beautiful welding you did my man! This clearly shows how hard it actually is to become a good tig welder!! The weld you had to repair looked terribly bad! You are awesome! 👍🏽
totally unacceptable in my jib to take more then 15 minutes to make a weld structural here, no pretty shit, we ultrasound all welds... you dont get 3/4 oon aa 1 inch thick pipe you lose your job
I feel guilty saying this, but I'm glad its not just me dont know how you could just go into ZEN mode knowing 'THAT' root was lingering under all your good strings.... loved the NO Autograph part hahaa
That right there with shocking man that had that look like rookie work!!!! But I know I've been thrown in situations like that and I've repeatedly said that I don't want my name anywhere around on that....
Man you a good guy I pray you get what you want and need in life I know you could have said way more but instead you just did what was needed and I even learned something from the clip thanks for your videos they help have a good one bro
@@X3MTIG thank you for your time iv learned a great deal watching your channel I’m sure your boss don’t like you filming taking time setting up but seeing in the field repairs are great with the commentary on heat and technics really helps me know more about how to do my stuff. I’m new and only doing at home things but have learned a great deal from your channel it’s as good or better than any other iv seen keep up the great work Be carful
It’s actually funny that he did pass the X-ray, but report was full of indications, and the only thing that saved him was, thickness and diameter of the pipe… good thing he did because I would be the one to fix it, lol!
It was impossible to know if his root had full pen, and honestly I didn’t want to know that! I was just trying to get rid off any indications on the outside .
Was doing some spool fabs In the plant, took over for a welder (tube welder, new to pipe and walking the cup) after he put a root and hot pass in. Well I didn’t check it and just finished it up. Well I checked inside for whatever reason and was horrified to see the root. Had to GRIND into it and burn the angel wings and fix a couple spots. Learned a valuable lesson that day lol. Great video brother. Half the battle of welding is knowing how to fix mistakes in my opinion
I hate coming in to mess from day or night shift. Atleast grind it smoothe and run a thin and clean hot pass before allowing another welder to see that trash. Some individuals just don’t take pride in their work. Your name/reputation is everything in this industry.
Ya I appreciate how much you didn’t throw the guy under bus. I know 9018 9percent &12percent very hard to learn not something that you should put someone on with no experience right. Company should have not done that Welding foreman etc. it’s kind of nice that you can film your own work I sure wish I could bro . Good video
*👀To be fair to the Guy that put the root in, at least He's trying. I always "root" for the underdog. I have seen too many jobs where so called "Welders" that can't weld get hired on just because they know someone that can get them on the payroll. They manage to get through the whole shut down without doing any welding at all. If you don't weld you don't get any repairs. 🙄*
Hi man, I'm starting TIG welding and I'm wondering why are you doing hot passes 2 and 3 starting by the top one ? At school and the company I'm in, they told me to start multipasses by the bottom one who will support the top one. Thanks.
*I'm surprised QC didn't get you to grind a little window to have a peak at the root. Why waste all that time grinding the root, hot passing, filling and capping it and X-Raying it if the root is no good.*
It was closure weld procedure, so welding foreman was with him, watching him doing root for 12 hours, lol, which is mind blowing, as I said, I don’t blame welder, but definitely foreman.
Ola Guerreiro.. Sou Tig no Brasil mais especificamente Rio De Janeiro , como é o trabalho ai De Soldador TIG ? Des de ja meus parabens pelo belo trabalho
Im suprised the inspector didnt call it a cut out. If you cant see that root what are the chances thats going to pass x ray? I know you cleaned it up and hot passed it but if he has IP or LOF i dont think you would fix that on the hot pass. You did mentioned your name would be nowhere near it and the inside of the root isnt your problem which is fair. Did it pass x ray?
