Tiger 59' in World of Warships Legends 4K

First of all: Thank you very much for giving this ship a fair chance! 👍 Unlike other CCs, you didn't prejudice the Tiger '59 by simply adopting the PC player community's opinion or the so called "common opinion". I really appreciate that. Coming to my personal opinion... I absolutely LOVE the Tiger '59! 🐯👍 It's one of my favourite ships in the entire game. I usually play a lot of British cruisers and even though I've never been a fan of Minotaur, I was curious about Tiger since the first announcement and bought her on the day she appeared in the shop. Minotaur turrets, smoke, radar, good heal... She's got the full package! 😁 I didn't focus on concealment, but on a more agile build, which works out fine for me. I enjoyed two of my best rounds ever with this ship. One with "Kraken released" and the other with 140k+ damage. Everything is possible with Tiger. And believe me: I'm not a good or experienced cruiser player. So I would not agree on the "high skill floor"... 😉 I've got much more problems with Belfast. 😅

I’ve been having lots of fun in this ship. I run Jellicoe with Mikawa and Swerzki as inspirations and it’s been a blast. An agile build works great on this too. But I tend to play it more with my concealment build.

Utility is key for this ship and if I had to buy her, I’d set her up as a AA/concealment/radar cruiser. Her 8.5km radar range is very good and while her AA is decent, it’s nothing to snuff at. Smoke screen is a huge help, given how fragile this ship is, which also doesn’t hurt to use “Fulgosi” for inspiration to help increase that smoking screen deployment time. While not the best ship in the hands of novices, she can be a huge asset in the hands of an experts. I’ve already bought her “lucky” camo, in the event that some how I buy a random crate with her in it, I at least have a good camo to show off, better to have it and not need it. It a crime shame that there isn’t a commander with a base trait that increases the radar range and duration by 5%, a commander like that could make this ship a terrifying foe to any destroyers lurking in bases for quick capture.

A well know fact is that the importance of Aviation on land and out at sea grew each year during World War II. In response to the rising threat, it was natural for the British Navy to be lightly concerned about improving the anti-aircraft defenses of their cruisers. At the same time, the Admiralty no longer wanted to build specialized AA defense Cruisers armed with dual-purpose light guns. The only logical way out of that situation was to create dual-purpose large caliber guns that would be effective against both surface and air targets. The British managed to accomplish that after the war, and it was decided to install new 152mm dual-purpose automated guns on several light Minotaur-class cruisers that had been laid down between 1941-43. However, work on these ships was continuously delayed, and the decision to finish construction of three cruisers using a new project was made in 1954. Five years later, light cruiser Tiger named Tiger '59 in PC (Legends now) entered service in Great Britain's Royal Navy.

Yeah, sure sure looks like the future less sold ship of all time, in this game. Every other premium ship of the tier seems to have something over her. I bet we will be seeing her a lot as a gift in crates... Good video as usual. Great to see team mates help you get good content.

I know that by the time this ship was launched traditional deck launched torpedoes we're gone in favor of wireguided/homing torpedoes or air launched from a helicopter but a ship of this design really needs something other than just 4 guns similar to how fast Friesland has been powercrept or how easily Friesland can be countered

Great review and after having played a fair few games in this myself, I'd completely agree with your assessment. Without torpedoes and sonar and with sides this delicate, its no good up close and its too inaccurate/difficult to aim to be a long range sniper. Mid range support using cover though? This thing can shine, using its good agility and radar to ambush distracted opponents. The AA is also fantastic and very relevant in the current meta. Friendly bbs will really appreciate you being within 5km!

I do agree that this ship could use at least one rack of 4 torpedo launchers per side. It would be nice for the radar ambushes in my concealment build but oh well. It’s like a Friesland with a citadel. Fun ship

Well its a Tiger, not because of the dangerous claws, not because of its deadly fangs, not because of its sheer power, but because its literally one of the most unsuccesfull predator in the animal kingdom 🐅🐯 Flandre 🍷🥖

This ship is blessed. It's a team support ship but has my highest win rate in ranked. It just seems to pull good teams. Even if her firepower isn't great, 40 seconds of radar is pretty intimidating on cap contests. She's so much smaller and more nimble than the other tech tree UK CL. It makes peaking around islands or dodging torps so much easier. Regarding the AP vs angling...most of the time this doesn't apply because your shells are falling onto the enemy vertically and, like with tech tree UK CL, you're aiming for superstructure anyways unless you're somehow alive at point blank range where your shells aren't arcing. Incidentally, as I watch the vid, I notice you aiming at ship hulls as though you weren't shooting at them with AA guns. Aiming for superstructure is the way to go. Even with the improved pen angles, the armor penetration of these tiny guns isn't great. Plus, since even damage saturated superstructure (burned out by HE spammers) pays full damage for AP hits, you're not losing anything by aiming for it.

DD division Hunter like the Fiji probably be best. Think you are right.

Sometimes is hard to know if you recommend or not a ship. We would love if you were a bit honest. Like for example (you could grade ships from 1 - 10, or at the beginning explain why you don't like or recommend the ship). On this review I felt like you had mixed feelings. Like a part of you was trying to recommend it, while the other part said at the end "No, don't do it" I really liked your video, and hope to see more of you in the future! But try to be a little more shap/honest, people loves that

I guess to make this ship really shine in it's support role it should just straight up get the radar from Minotaur to: 40 seconds duration and 9 km range. Making it incredibly dangerous for opposing destroyers.

Got this in a winter 22 crate...and I'm not impressed. If I wasn't a solo player I could see the potential of her. But with these teams. You end up either wasting her smoke or trying to kite away in a slow ship with what seems to be a massive citadel. It's definitely a great free 10mil credit booster though.

Ok hear me out. I have Belfast and Tiger 59. I enjoy playing both ships. But Tiger is more of a dd and cruiser hunter trying play the ship beyond that and you will be disappointed in results. So when i play this ship i got after dd and cruiser youll get citadel hits but if you think you'll get it on bb. It's not there. Three second reload equals to about 16 shoots in sbout 12 seconds thats pretty good giving it only has two turrets. I had good games with the Tiger 59. Especially when people don't take you seriously until you light them up then it's the oh shit ok this guy is playing serious. Its heavily a opinion and experience for me with this ship but i do like a challenging ship because the reward that comes with a good game.

If you have Belfast, you don't need Tiger 59.

Honestly a lot of RU-vidrs for PC consider this the worst premium in the game bar joke premiums like mikasa. Even then I got to give props to whoever 3D modelled mikasa and decorated her because she looks gorgeous. Unlike Tiger 59 which looks like the IKEA furniture design team was contracted to design and build her for how ugly and weak she was in real life as much as in the game. While it's possible to do well in anything if you set your mind to it. I would rather chew rusty nails until clean then spit them out onto a pile of wood before using my own gentleman sausage to hammer 🔨 together a completely new ship with said nails, my blood and sheer contempt for Tiger 59.

Here I'll just translate your calm demeanor for anyone else that stops by. EVERYONE THE SHIP SUCKS. Now that that's out of the way, I enjoy some ships that aren't necessarily "good" like Bismarck and Amalfi, but they at least offer something different. Tiger 59' just lacks any meaningful utility. No point in that smoke, radar, or heals if it has the firepower of a straw and spitballs.
