People need to stop associating Tiger sharks as friendly puppies who like to be pet. But you got the Emma diver posting vids as well as that free diver girl, although she does warn against doing what she does, people see the videos and think it's ok.
This is why these sharks don't fear humans anymore. I really wish that some divers would stop feeding these animals, and don't do anything to attract them
Sharks have never feared people, they've been eating them for years with no regrets. The issue is that with "Instagamable" moments folks get taken up by the mystique of posting themselves into a digital legacy with little regard to their immediate surroundings. American Bison, the Grand Canyon and the occasional fortunate shark are just nature's way of saying Wake Up Stupid!
This is just so reckless on so many levels 🤦🏼♀️ These instructors should lose their diving certificates/licences, as they are putting inexperienced divers at great risk here! Pure idiocy imho.
Sorry, but as an avid life long diver i,m just not in favor of shark dives like this. I know that they are a money maker but what are we teaching sharks. I have seen sharks while diving many time in the natural environment. Don’t like this “created” or made up environment.
lets chum on the bottom, attract 15ft man eating tiger sharks, then get diving novices to sit in the chum and enjoy getting close to nature, what could go wrong?
@@saveourseas7 Cant you see they do !! every year a woman or man is eaten. Even if it's their leg or arm So quit lying Numb Nutz sharks eat humans !! NUMB NUTZ
This is just plain stupid...there are 5 tiger sharks and several comparatively less dangerous species baited into being there - come on man! think about the next guy/gal who dives that site and runs into these critters expecting the dinner bell.
I have been a Diver since 1974, and have seen quite a few sharks in my time, but what the folks here did not see, is that Tiger open it's 5 gallon bucket size plus, of a mouth and exhibit those incredible serrated and hooked teeth that cut through sea turtle shells. If that animal charged any person in this video, in a true feeding moment, the fatality would be immediate and it certainly would make an impression on those divers, especially the cameraman whose breathing rate indicates he is terrified to begin with, but the imminent feeding frenzy of multiple 12-15 foot tigers and some S.O.B. Bull sharks that are cruising in and out would finish off this group readily. Totally Stupid and Dangerous. This is going to turn into a group's worst nightmare at some point.
Gotta agree at some point in the future one these dives is gonna go severely wrong and I’m afraid one or possibly more of these divers is gonna wind up as dinner
Facts! A few years back at my house I found a deceased loggerhead sea turtle that was intact that a large shark bite on its back shell that was outlined in blood where the sharks teeth has penetrated. I'm no shark expert but due to size of the bite I knew that it wasn't a mako or bull shark. It was confirmed to be a Tiger shark. The short of a long ass story, I'm good on swimming with Tiger sharks because an accidental nibble will easily severe a major artery
First impression is whoever was filming this is obviously a novice diver, upside down, then turned over dragging themselves on every rock and piece of reef shaking that camera until I thought I was going to puke. Second, I can't believe the guy filming and his buddy were struggling along and after five minutes arrive to the site where all the others are with a load of already fired up sharks. This must be the most unorganized shark dive to have ever happened. The fat guy in the blue wet suit is lucky to have lived through this display of idiocy. His skinny buddy in the black suit wasn't any better. I am no expert in any of this but I have seen plenty of these dives in videos like this and on Shark Week shows. This was clearly irresponsible behavior and this circus should be forced to shut down immediately.
What in the entirety of f#ckness did I just watch? That many divers creating so much bubbles- sharks coming straight at them through the bubbles- this is hunting behavior. These people are crazy 😳
That was not hunting behaviour. The sharks wanted the food in the box, but they weren’t interested in the people from a food perspective. They even made a point of keeping their mouth closed/fins horizontal when right near the divers.
The viewing gallery seemed way to close to the action here. The tigers weren't small and judging from the buoyancy control and breathing of the cameraman the divers weren't all experienced. A bit more distance and maybe the peripheral vision of those watching would have picked up sharks moving behind them. If you are static sharks will approach from behind you, often making a circuit to do so just beyond the limits of visibility. Those watching had an intense and no doubt memorable experience. However, unless things change it seems inevitable that someone will be injured. When dealing with a 500kg+ shark if you think you are in control you are deluding yourself, you aren't, its false confidence. Its almost a rule, the unpredictable will eventually occur. In this case it will sadly be all to predictable.
i got to agree, first thing i thought was breathing poor when the video started, i also agree that this is an accident waiting to happen, the guides seem very confident but it didnt stop one sneaking in behind them. i personally wouldnt be signing up for this, its a numbers game and im not lucky enough
@@andre-dx4yw yeah.... there's like 8000 ways this can go wrong and only one way it can go right- I _definitely_ do NOT like those odds. Nope. ✌️🏃🏽♂️👣👣👣👣👣💨
That's exactly what I was thinking. If those big tigers seriously wanted any of those divers, there's nothing any of them could have done about it. This whole setup looks like a shark bite waiting to happen.
If this can be done with tiger sharks, then it can be certainly done with Nile and saltwater crocodiles…Y’all should give it a try and live stream record it👍🏿👍🏿
Maybe the reason sharks attack people is because people dive down into their territory and poke a prod and slap them..i'd bite the shit out of anyone doin that to me in my home.
No. They are baiting the area, and sharks have grown accustomed to being hand fed. This is just learned behavior. They associate humans with food, and go for a nibble because that's what humans have taught them. Human = Food.
Don't think you'll be able to gently push away like that if one of the sharks decide to come out of the blue with it's bucket wide mouth wide open coming in hot at 50 mph right towards your face 👀
at the same time i am seeing (i knew already though.) that leading a group of total BEGINNERS (including an elder man, i saw.) in the middle of a tiger pit is anything but smart (not to say it is completely INSANE and IRRESPONSIBLE.)... these instructors are either stupid, or crazy.
The word I would use is "greedy" - some people will take anyone's money. It's obvious they have no respect for the reef or care much about the safety of the people in this group. Sad.
Call me crazy but if I were with a group of that size and everyone facing different directions, with views sometimes obscured by bubbles, I would ask that we all be on our knees, in an outward facing circle so all angles are covered. Just me though ig 🤷♀️
Baited the area..baited the sharks..then one guy reaches out to stroke one...ffs...seems like incompetence all round to me..plus it`s a big ass tiger shark...I`m mean...Really?...
At first the tiger shark appears to be interested in the bubbles, this is why most divers who swim with sharks use rebreather, then the animal starts to exhibit hunting behaviors. Marine biologist believe that the bubbles escaping to the surface sounds similarly to that of a struggling wounded animal.
Over grown reefy( reef shark), they're just like wild dogs, stand your ground, you run, you get bitten, try not to show fear, they have the sixth sense, they know what they're doing. Alot of the time they're curious, feed mostly at night, (scavengers)....I been a commercial diver for 25 years in Torres Straits,( lobster or painted crayfish)...that's on hookah gear, heaps of bubbles, from 10-40m and have encountered all sharks in the tropics, murky to clear waters, doesn't matter..... respect and take care👍
Most divers don’t have access to or can’t afford a rebreather, a ridiculous comment with absolutely no merit, the Shark is jacked because they baited the water, heavily, and they have a dozen undertrained divers just sitting on the bottom next to a crate stuffed with dead fish, it’s just stupid...I’ve been diving, free diving and surfing for over 30yrs, rebreathers are for deep or extended dives not recreational shark dives, a decent scuba set up can be had for $1,000 to $2,000, that’s every thing included, a rebreather just for is $10,000 just for the unit another $5,000 at least in accessories. ( not to mention the training class is $2,000 ) it’s just not feasible a day shark dive at a resort or dive charter
@@bigeyetuna6228 i was thinking of doing a shark dive but after watching this....it really isn’t safe....certainly putting life and limb on the line.....half the time they are physically fighting the sharks off....not my idea of fun!
@@robertmast7451 those weren’t reef sharks thoughts were hugh tigers and i think i saw a few bulls that were darting quickly in and out....not sure i want to do this now
This is like trying to do something with horses, dogs, and chickens milling about. They get so curious and “helpful” we spend more time pushing them out of the way than getting done what we set out to do. So, has this reef suffered an environmental issue? I’m not seeing the typical plants, corals, and anemones seen on most reefs. The surfaces are nearly bare.
It's frustrating to watch so many people grabbing at and clinging onto the formations. This destroys reefs quickly & is painful to watch. Dive outfits worth their salt instruct new divers not to do it, teaching buoyancy control instead, in order to protect the marine environment. This dive was unprofessional, dangerous, and destructive on many levels 😩.
@@beekneed as a certified open water advanced diver, I agree 1000%... extremely hard to watch such inexperienced divers just TRASHING the environment like this!
I went to school with the parents of the girl who was killed in a predatory attack by 3 tiger sharks in the Bahamas, and I can say it had to be terrifying for Leslie to have that sort of slow, drawn out attack. Tiger sharks are slow, purposeful, and stubborn killers unlike a great white where the attack will come from below and probably incapacitate you, kill you, or at least render you unconscious while it eats you. Like Doctor Grant said about Raptors in Jurassic Park - "you are alive when they start to eat you, so show some respect huh?"
Despite everything I've read, I 110% believe that it wasn't three sharks that attacked her. I believe it was just one that attacked multiple times. If you study shark research and conservation, it just doesn't happen. Sharks do not attack humans in packs.
@@heatherninneman558 bullshit. Depending on the species it most certainly an happen. I've had a pack attack of whalers, there is video footage of two Great Whites attacking a surfer. It happens with hammerheads, bulls and several other species. I'm a shark diver and have been for 40 years.. You are a clueless landbound RU-vid commenter with zero shark knowledge.
@@heatherninneman558 Well they don't coordinate like orcas but if more than one is present in the nearby area they won't pass up the opportunity to feast on the same prey
Now what happens when these same sharks encounter a swimmer, a surfer or another diver who doesn't have a box of food?? What happens to them?? This is just like the crazy lady who was feeding wild coyotes raw meat smh....
That's exactly what I was thinking. Remember the Grizzly Man who moved to Alaska to live with bears and the little old lady who lived alone and fed "her Friends" the bears from her front porch? They were lonely and thought the bears loved them and they had a special connection to them. Well, only the humans felt that connection. The bears ATE both of those people. These sharks are not domesticated or pets. You are meat and they eat meat. Period.
I used to assume that too. But If that were correct then Tiger sharks would be killing people all over the Bahamas and Florida, but they aren't. 99..9 % of the time sharks just don't try to eat people..Way more people are killed by pet dogs every year than by Sharks. And when a shark (or dog ) does attack a human its usually not for food but because of territorial aggression..we don't know enough about what provokes aggression in Shark.s
These people are what you call thrill seekers, just like skydiving, mountain climbing, etc. A huge part of this is the thrill, yet danger of the “sport”. They know how dangerous it is. I say, GO FOR IT!!
What if one or very possibly 2-3 sharks who weigh a ton+ decide to attack, you won’t push something like that away would you? If it bite at the head and you don’t lose your head there’s a chance the tube with oxygen can suffer damage and your done. So many things can go wrong 😑
Please stop destroying the sea floor and learn to control your buoyancy. You wrecking the place, and look behind you every once in a while as that is usually where the shark is
For sure. I was taught to hover, don’t touch or stand on reef, certainly don’t interact with the wildlife. Serious buoyancy and breathing control here. Just watching them swim with arms flailing all around - bloody amateurs!
@@michaelwilwand8036 Inefficient buoyancy is the quickest road to decompression sickness too. Tend to fill that BCD full of air and shoot up. Before you can even do anything it’s too late... you fucked up
Who ever lead this dive should be stripped of the diving certification. Stupid, reckless endangerment of the other divers and disturbing the sharks and other marine life. One bite and it would have been a mess for that group.
and barely tickling the tail fin of a shark (at 8:13) will do nothing but annoying him (in a bad way for your own survival.). on top of that with a pack of duskies later on (which are more than 'easy-frenzy'.)... cherry on the top : all that little world in fairly murky waters (sharks can hardly discriminate their preys from non-preys.)... and you get : a band of assOs who paid money for committing suicide in joy and laughers.... congratulations, folks ! (ironic.)
It's notable how the tigers were more interested in the divers than in the bait boxes. They were clearly conditioned to associate divers with food. DON'T FEED THE SHARKS.
These types of dives are infuriating. To be perfectly honest, watching that one guy baiting and harassing those tigers had me almost hoping for a real teachable moment for anyone else thinking of acting that reckless and stupid, especially with clearly inexperienced divers.
What in the bloody hell is going on here. This is a MESS! you got divers flapping about all the over the place. Flipping & flopping over these tiger sharks! some of these beauties are huge. These people are completely dull! How an accident didn’t happen here I’ll never know. Just well done to the sharks for exhibiting great behaviour cause these messy ass people did not! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Wow I'm usually the only one commenting that risking your life for shark porn is a fool's errand. Glad to see others here noting that you don't need to molest wildlife (and risk your life and others' lives) to enjoy nature.
If that shark actually tried it could of tore them to pieces in seconds and no amount of pushing would help. Those sharks can attack at over 35 mph and easily turn back from a push and take your arm if it wanted.
This is crazy, asking for it, idiocy. Take the lid off the chum box, stay in the middle of the churn of it all and pet the 10'+ dozens that came to check it out. Those poor tourists!
These divers are destroying the reef. Crabbing the rocks and laying all over it. Any legit diving company would not alllow and teach you to avoid doing this. If they would’ve got bit they would’ve deserved it and I would help the authorities wouldn’t kill the shark responsible.
Have they not watched that one video of that poor young man in Egypt last year that was swimming with his girlfriend? Him screaming for his dad haunts me. 😫
